  1. We also put TTC on the back burner for my surgery. I have a son who is 2 1/2 years old and I would love for him to have a sibling. But it's much better for me and "future baby" to be at a lower bmi. I'm hoping to lose 100 lbs before TTC again. I undersand the desparate want for another baby and it doesn't seem to get any easier no matter how much I say it's better to wait.
  2. I've taken out some WLS books from the library, I've been trying the recipes and trying to read all the tips to prepare myself.
  3. Have you attended any support meeting? I'm not banded yet, but I still like going to them, to ask questions and whatnot. They have them at my hospital but I also know of other groups like Long Island Post- Ops, you can find them on facebook as well.
  4. Hello! I'm in Coram, going to Dr. Ahmad in Port Jefferson. I'm being banded in just over a month! I would love to get together for a walk or something sometime
  5. I started going a few years ago and I LOVE it! I remember the first time I went, I saw all these "old ladies" and thought, this will be an easy workout. I was wrong! I was litterally sweating while in the water, it's a great workout. You do cadio and weight training. My place stops for the summer so I can't wait for next month to start going again.
  6. I'm over 300 lbs and still ride my bike all the time. I would recommend going to a real bike shop (not like walmart or target) and tell them what you're looking for. They will know the right height, seat, etc. for you. It may cost a bit more than chain store ones but if you go to them and get a bike that is uncomfortable, you won't ride it. So spend the money and get one that best fits you.
  7. I know the feeling, my insurance makes you wait 6 months from the first weigh- in, I started the process in March and will be banded in Oct.
  8. I will tell anyone in the world, except my in-laws. They have been VERY verbal about my weight and just like my weight being none of their business, neither is my WLS. Good luck to you!
  9. I would thake them out, I'm pretty sure they would ask you when you checked in at the hospital if you had any and would make you take them out then. That way they are safe at home, but rolling around in a bag or in your pants pocket.
  10. Hubby ordered me the sampler pack from bariatic fusion, so far I like the cappuccino and cinnamon bun. Hated the chocolate (actually had to toss it because it had a weird after taste).
  11. If you had asked me 2 years ago if I was going to get weight loss surgery, I would have said- no way, I'm going to lose weight by myself. But I've yo-yo'd too, and I need this weight to stay off! I was lucky enough to have my son naturally but once we started to TTC again, I knew I wouldn't be able to have another at this weight. I made this decision for myself, my husband, my son and any future children we have. It will be much healthier for me and baby if I'm at a lower BMI.
  12. Great for you! Happy Birthday!!!
  13. Just got back from the doc and it looks like I can't get banded until October, their schedule until then is full It's ok, it will be worth the weight (pun intended)
  14. I just got back from the doctor and while I had hoped for a Sept. date, it looks like I will be getting banded on October 4th! I can't wait for some companions on here!
  15. I attended my seminar in March, my insurance requires 6 months weight monitoring so I will be able to have surgery this month or next.
  16. Hello! I see him on Thursday, hoping to get my surgery date then! Have you been to a support group meeting? I've been to a couple, I really like them.
  17. I'm in my 20's but I live in Suffolk county.
  18. Same things happened to me.
  19. My surgeon asked me to lose 10 lbs before surgery, my surgery isn't until early Sept. but I'm afraid I can't lose the 10 lbs before then. Has anyone experienced this and what happened? Thanks!
  20. I'm 25 and 315 lbs and will be banded in Sept.
  21. In about Feb. my husband and I decided to try for another baby, but my body can't handle that right now. I need to lose weight to have a heathy pregnancy and baby.
  22. Great work and good luck on the 18th!
