  1. I'm not sure of the caloric value but I'm into pan drippings! Lol seriously though, my mom made a slow cooker pot roast and I added some water to the juices to make me a broth and it was delicious and still considered a clear liquid. We also had chicken fajitas and I did the same with that. I only suggest this if acid is not a concern for you. If acid reflux is a problem the spices might bother you. And, if possible maybe a no sugar added applesauce with a scoop of protein powder for a snack once or twice a week. I'm still trying to figure out what's good and what's not so good luck on your journey!!
  2. Had my surgery on Tuesday. I only had ice chips and liquid Lortab for 2 days. Started eating and drinking clear fluids yesterday. Realized I wasn't satisfied today. I'm thinking this is when the shock has settled in for me. Overall physically I'm feeling ok, but emotionally and psychologically I'm unsettled. It's as if my mind doesn't want to let go of food but my stomach is just not interested. I know it will take many moons for my mind to catch up but what do I do in the meantime. I'm realizing that food has been a sport and a hobby for me!
  3. This surgery is new as far as weight loss surgery but gastrectomy (or stomach resection) has been around for ages. People with stomach cancer or tumors often have as much of their stomachs cut out or more than those with the sleeve.
  4. I love this board!!! I swear I can find a topic on everything I'm going through. I'm 2 days out and my mind is losing the fight with my stomach for the first time ever! I starting taking a Zantac today and that helped. I said to myself this afternoon, "what have I done?" ! It's hard but everyone on this board has been through what I've been through and seeing the weight loss and positive stories is so encouraging! Man, I can't weight until I can eat an egg!
  5. Yeah I can understand the weight gain. I gained about 4-5 lbs from the iv fluids. Hoping to get those off once I start getting my protein and daily fluid up. I wouldn't worry about it this early.
  6. I am 2 days out and have a grumbly sleeve. Every time I sip something the grumbling gets louder, then calms back down after 2 minutes or so. But it's a constant sensation. Anyone have similar rumbling?
  7. 24 hours out! Feeling better than i did yesterday. I have only tried water and ice chips so far and they make me feel extremely full, so im scared to try more. Gas pain was what everyone said it was horrible. But walking and gas x strips seem to be doing the trick. Just waiting in the doc to come see me and I should go home today. My doc doesn't do any external kind of leak test. Is that normal?

  10. Will be at the hospital at 645 surgery at 845. Good luck and God bless guys!!
  11. I have surgery in the morning. Wow, I had my mom take some before pics (I will post when I'm comfortable, I promise!) I cried looking at them. Not looking for sympathy and I'm sure everyone here can empathize, but I'm so ashamed of what I've done to my body. I had pics taken with clothes on and clothes off. I did not realize that I had gotten so heavy. I'm glad I took the pics tonight because I was so nervous about tomorrow but seeing these photos I know I'm more afraid to continue on the way I have.
  12. Weigh to go!! You look great!!
  13. You're awesome! And, you are so inspiring! Good luck and best wishes with continuing your journey!!!
  14. Yay Stephanie!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a new you!
  15. Don't be embarrassed here, I cheated too! I'm doing better and you can too! Try to see the light at the end if the tunnel. Good luck!
  16. Thanks for the recipes!
  17. Yeah, that sux. When I first considered WLS (it was the lapband 5 years ago) my BMI was only 35 and I was told I didn't qualify. Now I have a week until sleeve surgery and my BMI is a 48-49 :-( I tried 7 different weight loss approaches in the past 3 years and have lost some and gained back more during that time. I hope things work out for you.
  18. Weigh to go!! Share some tips!!
  19. Yeah, everything I'm on is liquid only. The red pepper soup is liquid only. I just hate healthwise products! I only have a little while longer before my surgery. And my doc has his pts on clears for 2 weeks, full liquids for 2-3 weeks, and pureed for 3 weeks. I'm just trying to deal with the thought of wanting different food so bad right now! I'm hoping post sleeve will be better, my stomach is growling so loud when I'm with my patients in the exam room it's embarrassing!
  20. I tried the hot chocolate today, it was awesome! I bought some soup from the grocery store, a roasted red pepper and tomato soup with low cal/low carb, it was pretty good. I also bought some jello and popsicles even thought my sons will probablly eat the majority of those! Only a little while longer.
  21. Good luck with the diets and surgeries everyone! This liquid diet for pre-op is kicking my butt! Medifast products taste like dog food to me :-/
  22. Thanks! I'm trying to make it through. This week just seems to be going so slowly!
