lizzyshade got a reaction from Pre-OpLoser619 in Shopping At Home
Today I went through clothes way in the back of my closet that I haven't been able to wear in a long time. I felt like I was shopping from my own home. It was great to put on old favorites and have them fit! I went to dinner with my husband and felt pretty for the first time in a long time. I'm not near to the weight I want to be, but for now I'm going to enjoy the little victories! It's amazing how two less pant sizes will do for your self esteem.

I do drink coke zero. Not very often but if I want one I get it and have no problem drinking it. Some people think it will stretch out your stomach but my surgeon said he took almost all of the stretchy part out and what I have left is fairly muscular and will never stretch out. My motto is all things in moderation.

lizzyshade got a reaction from Just Keep Swimming in Sleeved A Week Ago
I really went through hell my first 3 weeks after WLS & thought life was never going to be the same, wondered about mistakes too. But then I started improving every week, like someone else said it just takes some of us longer to heal & adjust. Took me 6 wks before I could say I was mostly back to normal. Just get through each day for now & it will get better!

It's really kind of hard to explain the frustration and depressed feeling you get when you are around other people eating. It takes a long time to be able to eat more than a few bites. You want to eat, but when you do, you feel stuffed after a few bites. It's very frustrating (the best word I can come up with) to think you're going to eat, and are prepared to eat, but then get so full so fast. These are the times we think "what have I done to myself?"
Now that I am past 3 years, I eat very normally. I try to remind people who are newly sleeved that it won't always be that way.
It's really good to work on our issues with complusive over eating and binging because it's very easy to regain after 3 years. chips Cookies, and pretty much all junk food goes down like there is no sleeve there.

Did your doc not give you some post-op instructions and guidelines??
I have tape over my incisions on my stomach. I was told to just continue to shower regularly with them and eventually they will get looser and fall (be able to be pulled lightly) off.... and I can attest to this because I had the some type of tape for my first surgery and this is what they did. About 10 days post-op they were pretty loose and I made sure they were loose enough to pull off so I didn't rip any of the scab (big no-no).
My doc has us start taking our Vitamins and supplements at 10 days post-op.
The post-op diet for us is 10 days of clears, 10 days of full, 10 days of mushies then you can go on to normal foods (as your sleeve will allow).
If I were you I wouldn't worry about calories right now, you shouldn't be consuming enough to even worry about it. What you should be focusing on is trying to get your Protein in, which will aid in fat loss (versus muscle loss) and also is a natural appetite suppressant.
If you're not already, I highly suggest joining a site like myfitnesspal.com or dailyplate.com!!
    I wish you luck!

I don't track calories, I measure ounces starting with 1 & worked my way to 2 over 1st 2 weeks post op. I eat every 3 hours & drink fluids in between. Cream Soups have worked best for me @ first single cup o cream chicken made with chicken stock (has extra protein), then others I could blend. Tomato/beef based has been too strong so far. Bathing, after wounds completely heal, but @ least 6 wks I was told. In Oregon, here though anytime.

Unfortunately, we sometimes do learn things the hard way. The only up side to that is that we learn them permanently that way! Hope you're feeling better soon!

I can't ever seem to do things the easy way, yesterday I went to dinner with my husband and ordered cream chicken Soup. While we were talking, I was spooning in soup until I realized that the last swallow did not feel right. I overate for the first time since my sleeve. I probably ate 3.5 oz before I realized what I had done and up till then the most I've ate is 2 oz at one time. I was in so much discomfort, full to almost pain for a few hours. I bought some plastic 2 oz cups today and from now on I'm going to take those with me and pre-measure my food. Today was another learning lesson, my husband & son got fresh strawberry milkshakes on our way to a Father's Day dinner and I decided to have some, probably had 1.5 oz. Within a half hour of getting to the party, I felt flushed, sweaty, had twisting gas pain, and finally diarrhea. Classic dumping syndrome. So this weekend has been about learning lessons the hard way.

Thanks for the input, I guess I am just healing slow, because it will be 2 wks on Monday since sleeved & I still don't feel like I could work a full shift. I'm going to take 2 extra days & then work a half shift the rest of the week. Decided I better listen to my body because it would be worse to go back to soon & end up taking more unscheduled time off.

Yes, your sleeve will "stretch". Actually, the swelling inside it will go down and you'll have increased capacity. I can eat 4 or 5 bites of watermelon now and it's really good, but I'm full. I usually do fruit as Snacks instead of with meals for just that reason.
