  1. im the same. i cant wait until im off my b/p meds either.... im hoping desperately that i can come off them eventually. i had a history of fainting from a very slow beating heart when growing up and in my early adulthood. i dont know why the b/p has gone to the higher side now... practically the same symptoms of light headedness and fainting... its weird. i so much want to get off the meds.
  2. i always use chili in the jar... ready mashed and ready to go. I jsut love the beans... try them, they are so tasty.. im really benefiting from them now, this morning found id lost another kilo... 2.2 pounds. real quick. i seem to stop losing and then have a spurt on overnight.
  3. i had three cc's the first fill. the second fill i had one and had to have half removed. im due to have the other 1/2 in a few weeks. im restricted but getting slightly hungry before the four hours are up. i have mostly protein.
  4. i weighed myself this morning and im down 42 pounds now. in five months. Im thrilled to bits. I have been eating a normal diet, just a fraction of the amount that i had before. Apart from making high protein soups its been normal eating for me. I found that cooking meat in my pressure cooker took care of the meat being too dry... that was a wonderful find. Im chuffed this morning..lol.. way to go.
  5. im four months post op now but still remember how i cooked up my own soups. I used beef/chicken broth... onions, salsa,(mild) one potato, small amount of pumpkin. when cooked i blended it down. I never made soup up so that it was thick ... always made sure there was enough fluid to keep the it liquid. i also added some garlic powder when i poured it into a bowl. i found that while i couldnt have thicker soups i could tolerate more flavour.
  6. it will help you a lot. the last comment i made i intended to write more but was interrupted. lol. It seems to me that lifting the arms like that opens up the ribcage enough to help the trapped air come back up. Ive never had so many issues with burping before surgery. it wasnt a problem at all. For some reason it seems to come with the surgery and im not sure why it happens. i just know that now its an issue that i contend with nearly every day . You will get practised at raising your arms to help get rid of the air... lol... i just hope i never have to do it in a restaurant.. lol. I dont have to do it when i eat slowly and wait between mouthfuls. its when i eat too quickly and im distracted that the air seems to get trapped and then i have to get it back up again. i hope this has helped you a bit.
  7. congratulations to you....it is a good day indeed. I know how exciting it feels... im the same way.
  8. i do feel for you. My experience with burping as been..... the problem was there immediately post op with me. Ive had ongoing episodes with it. Mainly now when im eating. Ive learned to just stretch my arms back over the head and put my hands on my head to expand my chest a bit and it usually works well. sometimes in the middle of a meal it happens and then i know i havent been eating properly. Usually its a sign for me that i need to slow down.
  9. ohhh.. what wonderful news for you.... and im jealous lol. im still on meds for high b/p.... but i hope to get off them eventually. Your cholesterol level was good as well?? you are off to a wonderful start. congratulations !! .. its well worth it. !!
  10. yes, this is like me....
  11. no... not everyone has got it together straight after surgery. Everyone reacts differently. I think the main area of encouragement for you is.... just take each day as it comes. Post surgery brings its own issues, with each one of us slightly different but issues all the same. The soreness, gas, and feeling overwhelmed is all natural. YOu arent alone in this. I went through all that you are talking about here. I wondered what on earth i had done to myself and thought i would never ever cope with it all... but as the days went by, my body reacted in a better way, the pain started to lift and mentally and emotionally i was able to get my head around it all. I think that the main thing for you right now is to try and sip your fluids continuously.. rest up and try and relax a bit. i know this is sounds easy and it isnt but you have to give yourself the healing time and as your body heals your mind will get around the whole banding thing. You arent alone. Hang in there.
  12. it sure must have been scary for you. im wondering about your blood sugar levels... and remembering that your body is going through tremendous changes right now. and thats hormonal as well. i hope that its only an isolated incident. i have episodes where some days im giddy off an on all day. Other days not so much. it could be not enough fluid with me though and im battling trying to change that.i crush my b/p meds up and put them in my coffee of a morning... about mid morning. it goes down well.
  13. thanks for this. will be trying it out.
  14. some people have smaller meals and four meals a day. If this continues perhaps you could look at doing that?
  15. ...talking about peas... i use dried sweet peas for soup all the time. i use them as a base and add tomato , chicken, salsa, all that sort of thing.. pumpkin as well. I buy yellow dried peas and green peas. I also buy lentils.... i love chick peas... add these to soups. you could cook them up and use them in a puree.... in fact they would be really great i think. Can you have onions ?? i usually brown the onions in a little olive oil first. I use a pressure cooker and the flavour comes through really well.
  16. i can add to this comment with the utmost confidence. I too am a patient of Dr Wilkinson. i have found him to be excellant in his field and very easy to talk with. i agree... try him and see what happens. its only the cost of a phone call.
  17. I wonder... is it the amount you are eating? how much each meal are you having? Some people dont have obvious signs when they have had enough... do you notice, at any point, a difference in how you feel when you are eating your meal? could you try cutting back on your portion and see how you go?
  18. just want to make a comment on dry meats... i have a pressure cooker and it does such a marvellous job with cooking chicken, beef, doing soups... you name it, its really good. Not only that but a whole chicken cooked beautifully in just over half an hour... corned silverside, 3/4 of an hour... i make fresh bean and pea soup every day... takes about 20 minutes. i wouldnt be without mine. im finding it the best way to cook meats and keep moisture in.
  19. i get the same thing. i dont get either at any other time but i know that if i start sneezing and hiccuping that im in for a bad run. Its not chewing enough and not waiting long enough between mouthfuls. Every time.
  20. well put.. this is the best way to go. No doubt.
  21. i agree... he/she is beautiful.
  22. i would say you maybe a bit too tight... when i had a slight unfill last month the dr asked me the very same things you just mentioned here as suffering from.
  23. i drink coffee black without sugar. i have up to four cups a day... one of them is decaf. it hasnt made the slightest difference to my weight loss.
  24. firstly... i use morter and pestle to grind my tablets up and put them in black coffee... Im sure i did read somewhere here where an MRI is perfectly safe with the band in place. I dont see why it shouldnt be.
  25. ..im the same and i had no idea how bad i was before. It seems that having the band in has intensified the urges... maybe because my entire diet has changed? im not eating bread anymore and hardly ever have any white processed flour. but... if i eat as much as one square of chocolate, or have one piece of licorace.... away i go. its hard.
