  1. id call and ask your doctor to be sure as you can tell from the comments the variations depends on the doctor.
  2. that is 100% correct. so when i do eat (i make sure i am getting the Protein, veggie stuff in me) and i do drink my shake (like you in the a.m.) i like knowing i have that jump on the protein and I LOVE my shake so i dont mind the way i see it, my bod has some extra (fat) on me and if it needs to borrow some from my a ss area or thighs, be my guest
  3. thanks for all the nice comments guys. it means alot...i just wonder what is next on my *silly list*
  4. it started thinning out a wee bit about 3 to 4 months post op....i asked my dr what gives as i have fine hair anyhow, he said it is normal and to keep up with my protein..some use biotin, i do not..who knows, it may just help you...couldnt hurt to use it......and here i am at nearly 9 months and my hair is thicker than its ever been and growing fast also (just like my nails). gotta love protein..
  5. thinking of you at this time sharon. hang in there okay
  6. any WLS has good and bad and there are pros and cons. you will have some that have complications and some that have none. you will also have people who are widely successful as they follow their dr's instructions and then you have people who do not do as well and blame everyone/everything (including elvis) that its the bands fault..those are the ones who are the most negative usually. regardless of which you get, the band, the sleeve, the bypass , the ds whatever, you must chance how and what you eat....exercise and develop a want to attitude... to want to lose weight bad enough to do what you have to do to lose weight...putting all excuses, high school drama behind and get on with it. the band is not overly hard (and its not overly easy) but if you help this tool the dr gives you, you can be successful.....that choice is up to you.
  7. i did and made my vitamixer earn its keep..(blend til super smooth)
  8. i am surprised your dr/nutritionist didnt advise you of this....but some do and the majority dont.....i lived on diet soda and thought id die with out it...nearly 9 months without one....and I haven't died yet because of it...my choice to listen to my dr.
  9. i think alot is based on age, weight, heritage etc....i think as you lose and exercise, you can/will tone but there is always that chance of saggy..you can later have surgery if you want...just keep doing what you are doing as you are doing great in my book. ps, let me add, i'll take saggy over seeing the scale over 300+ again

  11. i dont do the juice, i do pineapple itself...maybe that could help...but id def say use one of those woman ones in pink box..
  12. if i needed to, i would...but if you feel better, ask your dr. (i find me eating pineapple helps me move things along)
  13. jim can i add something....i eat when i am hungry.. if i am not hungry (at lunch) i dont eat....if i am not hungry at dinner, i dont eat i think of a baby....they eat when hungry and then turn their head when full..... you have done well....but i can read myself in your words.
  14. i would like to help also but i also dont do facebook
  15. i also had my gallbladder removed in 04 (when i lost 70 pounds that year)...it was emergency surgery and hurt between my shoulder blades i mean terrible.. i had like 3 or 4 (attacks) and each time in emergency room.....the last time hub told them i was staying til they fixed me.....
  16. so you are losing......and you want a fill (to help you lose) more? i think you are doing exactly what you need to be doing. my dr wanted me to have the bypass also but like you i was too (scared)...i told him the band was for me and i'd be his success story. and you know what i am....make the band work for you by helping it. and you ARE. i dont have any fills but am eating alot of Protein in my allotted amounts like you are...get a fill when/if you are ready..i am living proof that you do not need a fill (to lose weight).
  17. day 5-8/9 were the worst for me...my left shoulder i would have gladly let jason from friday the 13th movies cut that sucker clean off...i used the gas x (didnt help that i saw), used heating pad, a hot shower directly on my shoulder and walked as much as i could and def kept up with my pain meds.......and then one day i woke up and it was gone..i know it doesnt look like it now, but it does and it will get better.
  18. i wish you the best...just think your new year is about to start. how exciting..keep smiling today as its a great day.
  19. why tell anyone? its your business and if you wanna share then by all means share...there is alot of people out there who have no idea what the band or any WLS for that matter actually is or what it is about (only the quick/easy fix). ..yeah right on the quick/easy fix part. so dont worry about what could or could not be said...i have found those who say negative just dont know what it is or understand how it works....i told people at work and my hub.....and if someone asks me today why i got it, i merely say to save my life and that is exactly what it did...
  20. well it is major surgery so yeah, it is gonna hurt somewhat and be uncomfortable...and hard to believe but in a months time, you will be right as rain...you must think positive and give yourself some time to heal....being a debbie downer will only make you feel more miserable....so head up and realize you made a terrific decision....give your body some time to heal/adjust....it will be worth it....
  21. i have low blood sugar and this happened to me also, and i had that happen just a bit ago....i keep reg popsicles in freezer for when i am home to help and that is what i did during my pre ops/post ops....(all liquid stage)..
  22. you will gt through it one day at a time...finding want power and believing in yourself...you will get many answers in regards to size of foods...i myself make it jelly bean size or a scrabble tile size...and merely chew the mess out of it...dont over think it..embrace the changes and just do it...
  23. will get on my magic carpet and be right there,,,,,,,,,
  24. YOU will.......jut keep going forward and NEVER look back... find that want power deep inside you and make it happen
  25. i am kinda on the short side......and 8 months ago, i was about as wide as tall..my stomach played a major part and stuck out alot....take a gander at my profile pic in green if you dont believe me.. anyhow, i noticed today while moving the wet clothes to the dryer that i could stand on my tippy toes and reach nearly all the way into the washer to get the clothes out...where as before, i couldnt reach more than half way and more than a few times had to get the ole man to help...now that was a wonderful moment for me and even teared up a bit at just how far i have come since june 6 now i know what your thinking, kinda silly yeah i know but when you notice your stomach doesnt hinder you as it once did, its pretty big (pardon that expression)....(IE: seat belts, crossing my knee over my legs, seat in car, clothes) you get excited. thought i'd share another silly success
