  1. didnt your dr give you a post op diet to follow?, if not id call and find out its best to go with what he/she wants as what worked for me may not work for you...steph gave some great suggestions though...congrats on your surgery
  2. sounds good to me
  3. well said missy i dont know enough about dr kuri to speak so i wont but what i can say is its best to try to find a dr near you in case you have questions, need fills, complications...just seems more logical to me...although some have had great success and some havent...i feel choose your dr carefully.
  4. add me in..the more i lose, like lab, you can see it i like touching it and i love knowing my little helper is there my secret weapon
  5. grill chicken and veggies is great.....if it was me, leave off the bread Protein fills you up and helps you feel full longer...in my opinion, bread does not when i eat, i am gonna makeit count dont overthink it go out with hub and enjoy dinner
  6. any surgery can have complications its part of life...try not to worry about what if...... if you eat your allotted amounts, better quality foods and exercise (do whatever you can), the band will work...when i started, i could hardly walk... my starting bmi was 62...just make good choices, use common sense and find want power..we all got it..we just gotta find it
  7. if all you had is a shake today, then you need to eat if hungry pizza is not very filling (bread)..but eating a piece wont hurt...but try to eat better quality foods
  8. way to go my friend.........soooooooooo proud
  9. hey...quit talking about coors light....making me thirsty
  10. lab...great post and LOVED what you wrote: "In the beginning I think I expected the band to do the work. Now I know while it helps with a feeling of being satiated, it is I who control how much, and the quality of the food that passes through it."
  11. well the pre op is to prepare your insides for surgery and like tmf said, we have read posts from people whose dr's wouldnt operate because the pre op didnt make the liver nice and small..i couldnt bear waking up and the dr telling me he didnt give me the band for that reason and that was the main reason i disnt cheat...tooo scared..and not cheating made me strong mentally......in my opinion, cheating is only cheating yourself seems we cheated enough in our past to make us need wls.....what are you gonna do when when it really gets tough??.. (in my past, i turned to food and hence why i got obese)... need to knuckle down and follow the best you can what your dr advises. wishing you all the best
  12. major surgery..they cut you and sewed things on you..yup, its gonna hurt my port area was thender for abut a month...it will get better every day i know it doesnt seem that way now but before long you will be on here telling people that also
  13. its best to try and follow the pre and post op (diets) as best as one can the majority of us couldnt follow (how to eat correctly) and hence why we have wls...some things are just worth roughing it out and not giving in.....
  14. 3500 calories is a pound......ate or drank if you eat more calories than you burn off, you will gain or not lose you say you eat a cup of food...is it lean protein/veggies/fruit or high fat/high calorie? only you know that answer. maybe a visit to your nutritionist can get you a refresher.... hang in there okay...
  15. you got great advice from miss and donna and duchess and kc the band or any wls wont stop you from eating anything the band will help you eat less.....that is how i understand it to work..and i speak from my experience only that being said, you can eat what you want but there are better options nothing is off limits...you are not on a diet..you wanna go to a restaurant, go no where have i saw where you cant go...just pick and choose instead of saying i cant have this and i cant have that and what if that and what if that, how about say i can, i will and i do...you say you want to lose weight, then do it.. you lost 30 pounds so you know what to do eat your allotted amounts, drink alot and remember 3500 calories is a pound..ate or drank if you take in more cals than you burn off, we gain, its simple but unless you truly want it, it wont happen, no matter what wls one gets i know this to be true...i was over 300 and eating and stuffing my face and saying i wanna lose weight..but until i finally (took responsibility) nothing would happen. the band will help...you help it.. i believe in you, even if you dont believe in yourself.
  16. that is me also.. so when i am truly hungry and not just head hunger i eat..but eat Protein filled foods or have a Protein shake
  17. well, dont worry now.....at least it wasnt a couple of pizzas all is well
  18. remember oprah? she lost a huge amount of weight on a liquid diet so yeah it works but once one starts (overeating again).......well, you know what happens agree with miss and meinto, let the band do its job and you do yours by eating your allotted amounts and eat better quality foods
  19. you lost 23 pounds THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FANTASTIC
  20. well, whats done is done eating is not bad,,,some things are just better to eat than others.... just stay with your allotted amounts and eat more filling foods
