  1. I'm looking for someone or several someones who would be interested in meeting at the lakefront (South Shore area, near 63rd and the Lake Front) to walk at a minimum, three days a week. I work 8-4:30, so it would have to either be early mornings or in the evening. I know I can go alone, but it's a lot more fun when you have a buddy! Hit me up if you're interested and we can make something happen! Thanks!!
  2. OH I live right on the lake front, my husband and I go bike riding all of the time. I just want to get in a good walk in mornings or evenings...and unfortunately, the crime has gotten a bit out of hand lately, so being out when it's still dark alone, doesn't feel safe anymore! Also, I'm just a social person...I like working out with a buddy! Stay cool in Texas! If it's 100 degrees here, it must be 150 there!
  3. I have had my band filled twice since my surgery in April and I still do not feel any true restriction. I can still eat a whole salad or an entire sandwich. It's not like I'm gorging on crap, but I thought I would be getting full on say, half of a sandwich or half of a salad or cup of soup. I initially lost almot 40 lbs post surgery, due to not really being able to eat. Now, I'm not losing anything, although I've had two fills. This is so frustrating!
  4. I see Dr. Myers and he is very conservative with the fills. I'm gonna give it another month though!
  5. I pre-measure out all of my protein at the beginning of the week, so I don't have to think about it. I have a food scale, etc...If I eat a whole sandwich, it's because I am hungry. Eating one cup of food does not make me feel full, and an hour later, I'm nibbling. I've been drinking tons of water to try and fill the gap, but it would be nice if I didnt have to do all of that, now that I have the band. I am trying to wait before I get another fill (for what I honestly do not know, don't want to seem like a "fill junkie"). I just thought I'd have the same full feeling I had immediately after my surgery when I got my fills.
  6. I got my first fill last week, and I do not feel any restriction. I am still able to eat as much as I was prior to getting my fill. I eat a small amount and I am hungry about 30 minutes later. I wake up starving...is this normal or should I talk to my Dr. about adjusting my band with another fill? My Doctor leaves the band empty after surgery, then fills after 6 weeks. I haven't lost any weight since the 25 lbs I lost after surgery.
  7. Thanks! I have My Fitness Pal, had it before I got banded. I'm not worried about my eating. I haven't gained any weight, I just haven't loss. I'm down 40lbs since my pre-surgical visit, I lost 25lbs post surgery, but now nothing. I really thought that after my fill, I'd feel some restriction, I feel nothing. But I'll keep doing what I'm doing and kick up my workout routine to kickstart my losing again.
  8. Thank you for the response. I thought I would walk out of the Dr.'s office and take one bite and be stuffed! I am so nervous about getting stuck and all of the other horror stories, I am very careful bout what I eat, but I'm just not feeling full. I will continue what I'm doing and hopefully the fill full feeling will kick in.
  9. I had the same problem, ended up in the ER. What helped me was colace and suppositories. (Sorry for the TMI). Also lots of fluids and a bit of daily fiber.
  10. I am 3.5 weeks post-op and this gas is killing me! I have walked, taken Gax-X, drank Peppermint Tea, lie on my bed in ridiculous positions...nothing is helping. It goes away briefly, then comes back with a vengence and the pain is unbearable! I am so afraid to eat anything, for fear of the affect it might have. I'm not sleeping well, I have severe back pain, so along with the gas, I'm having to take advil for the pain. This is horrible. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am trying to stay positive, but every day I feel like this, I am regretting getting the band. I am normally a glass half full kind of person and I RARELY get sick. Even being overweight, my only health issue was my weight, so I am just unsure as to what I am doing wrong! All I know is that I am starting to become depressed because I feel like I can't get better. I'm stressed, missing work...and it is feeling like more of a headache than it should be. The other day I spent an hour in bed just crying, because I felt so horrible and nothing seemed to be helping. Is this just a phase and will it get better???

Post Surgical Gas Won't Go Away!!

I have them! I went through Colace, and Enema and Suppositaries...but once I was in the hospital, they gave me the world's biggest enema...and that worked it out. (Sorry for the TMI)

Post Surgical Gas Won't Go Away!!

Thank you for all of the input and support. I actually ended up in the ER on Saturday and they admitted me. It seems to be a combination of things. The constipation from the pain meds aggravated the incision sites, well the muscle underneath. It also contributed to the gas. Additionally, my not eating enough, for fear of getting sick, did not help matters. I am back home now, and officially on Short Term Disability until I feel 100% and can go back to work. The good thing is that they did a scan while in the hospital, my band is where it needs to be. So hopefully, by the time I go in for my first fill on the 24th, I will be OK!

Post Surgical Gas Won't Go Away!!

It is right in themiddle of my chest...it almost feels like i have a bouy floating inside of me. My surgeon thinks it is gas, but it is getting worse...I will be trying to get in to see him this week.
  17. I am constantly feeling like I have to burp or have something in my chest...Does this mean my band has slipped? I have a feeling like something is in the middle of my chest and I have to make myself burp. I am only 3 weeks pre-op and my band has not been filled. Up until yesterday, I was having severe gas, so I don't know if this is related but I am so afraid of a slip. Also, I have not been eating a great deal because I am afraid getting gas and suffering the pain of the gas again. If this is normal, when does it end. I didn't think recovery took this long!

    Help...has My Band Slipped?

Glad to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I am literally getting depressed over this! I cannot sleep, I'm afraid to eat, it is beyond stressful! Thanks

    April Bandsters!

My doc told me that I should not worry about losing during my first 5-6 weeks. I think it's really more about the body healing. Let me tell you, I have lost weight, but not because I am trying. I have no appetite, and the gas pains were so bad, I've been afraid to eat. It has been horrible. I would love to have an appetite so I can eat and at this point would welcome a couple of pounds! Hang in there it will get better!

    April Bandsters!

I am 16 days post-op and while I am not in terrible pain, there is still a tiny bit. It truly does get better as the days go by. I can say, I'm off of the pain meds (at least 5 days since I've needed it), I'm able to be out and about without feeling icky and I am starting back with my P90X on Monday. I think we all heal differently, so you might not take as long to be pain free or you might take longer. One thing for sure (and I learned this the hard way) get your protein in...that really helps the healing process move along! Good Luck!

First Week Post Op Wt. Loss

Banded 4/12 down 12 lbs. I agree, it depends on the person, but larger people do tend to lose more. I was 337 when I had my surgery, this morning I was 325.
