  1. I wish!! Unfortunately I am just in the preliminary stages of getting the band done. I go for all of my testing and consult with the DR next week. Who is your doctor and what hospital will you be at?
  2. Congrats Bright - I go for my 1st consult on Sept 22 and have all my other appointments scheduled for the 17th and 25th of Sept. Hopefully everything will go SMOOTHLY for us so we can make it over to the otherside SOON!!!!!
  3. Thanks for sharing your your experience with all of us. I am going for my eval on Wed 9/17. I come from a pretty dysfunctional family and in the back of my mind I feel as though they will "discover" something that I never knew was there. I know that's not true cause when it comes down to it I am just your average woman who has the same problems as everyone else so I know that's silly BUT it still crosses my mind. Thanks for sharing....it's helped to put my mind at ease a little!! :banana
  4. I know what you are saying........I am just so anxious to have this done. I (as I am sure EVERYONE on this board) am just so happy that there is this tool to help us loose weight. I had considered the gastric bypass.......but I couldn't go through with it. So now that I know I can get the lap band done it just seems to be taking FOREVER!! I am really trying to take things one day at a time. I know it wont be forever even though it may seem like it. My first appointment is next week!! YAY!!
  5. Hey everyone - there is a group on yahoo called bandster recipes. I was looking through it and found some really good and yummy sounding recipes. Here's the link: Bandster Recipes
  6. So I have started my journey to having the lap band done. All my appointments have been scheduled: psych eval, dietician, phys therapy and consult with the doc. I even called my insurance today and just double checked with them that everything I am about to get done is actually covered! Luckily it is so that's the least of my concerns at this point. It's just eh whole process of getting to the actual surgery date that is bugging me. I wish I could just go to the doctor TODAY and have it done today. I can't WAIT to get this over and done with so I can start on my NEW journey of living life healther and with more enjoyment!!!!
  7. Oh you guys!! I can TOTALLY relate to all these stories!! Just once I would like to go into a store and be able to pick something out for me that is going to be of good quality, good price AND looks good on me. I hate shopping for clothes because it is always such a hassle. When I was younger I loved shopping for clothes but now that I am older and the weight has been added, that is one of my all time least favorite thing to do - right on up there with getting teeth pulled!!! ) Thanks to all of you for putting a smile on my face cause I was rolling when I read these posts!!!
  8. Hi Kelly - WELCOME to the group!! Congratulations on being one of the few people to have the surgery done in Africa. You are making a big difference over there where that is concered!! I have yet to get banded but hopefully within the next few months I will be joining the "Land of Bands"!!! Once again, welcome!
  9. I was just wondering if anyone that is on here is in Wisconsin and had Dr. Engstrand do their surgery. I would like to know what they thought of him.

Thanks Raj for addressing this for us that haven't gone through the procedure yet. Everything that you asked hit all the questions I had right on the head. Best of luck on your journer!!
  12. I too am definately thankful for finding this website!! I just made the decision to get banded last week and I found SOOOO much helpful information that I know I made the right decision to have it done!! Thanks!!!
  13. I actually found him through a web site. I was a little hesitant about it until I consulted my PCP and she told me he had a good rep. That made the ultimate decision for me. WHen are you having your surgery done or has it been set yet? I am just at the consult stage - I go on Sept 22nd. I am REALLY excited about this!! We will have to keep in touch and compare notes!!! How did you find out about him?

it is so nice to know that there are others in the same state getting ready or have gone through this.
  15. Yes I have........I made the call today. His name is Dr. David Engstrand. He's in Brookfield - what about you?
  16. It's REALLY nice to see some other people from WIsconsin on here. I am in Milwaukee, where are you? I go for my consult on 9/22 - I am both excited and scared at the same time.
  17. Hi everyone! I was surfing the net and came across this board and signed up quickly. I just decided to have the procedure done yesterday. I'm a little scared....ok, a lot scared, but it is something that I want to do. I have done a lot of research on this and the bypass surgery and this just seemed like a no-brainer. I wish everyone the best of luck with their journeys!!!
