I wish!! Unfortunately I am just in the preliminary stages of getting the band done. I go for all of my testing and consult with the DR next week. Who is your doctor and what hospital will you be at?

My dr is Dr. Burhop and I will be having my surgery at Elmbrrok Hospital - whenever I get it scheduled. I go for my psych eval on Wed and then the rest of my appointments are next week. I am so anxious!!!

I thought my phy eval. would be a quick one appt. but the doctor I had took 4 sessions and about 2 weeks to get my ok from him and I couldn't make any other appointments until I had the go ahead from my psyc. eval.

  • 2 weeks later...

Christina....who was your pysch doc?? If its the one im thinking...hes prone to making you have further visits....he tends to be very poor at returning calls and forwarding needed info to the surgeons office.......hope you are lucky to not have him if this isnt the same guy......

Sassy where are you at post op? surgery date? whos your doc. what hospital are you having your surgery at? I am quite nervous the BIG DAY 24 hrs away

I am 7 weeks post op.... I had Dr. Chua.....he is great!!! I had my surgery on August 6th, and had a port revision last wednesday the 17th of September.(my dog jumped on me and flipped my port, tore out a stitch...only thing we can place how it flipped)

I am down 42 lbs....and cant wait to keep going....I have already lost 25% of my excess body weight that I want to lose.

Yes, it was Dr. Ernst.....I had heard from many wisconsin bandsters or those in the process that he mainly talked of his art work and wasnt really focused on his patients.....I saw Dr. Betsy Blair......she is very sweet....open...honest.....and a fantastic listener........my session was 1 session....55 minutes long....and she made me cry.....which I needed because I realized where some of my problems where.

Are you being banded by Dr. Chua?? My surgery took just about an hour.......everything went great but my body didnt react well to morphine.......it liked it for pain...but it made me horrible nauseus and dizzy when standing.

Just letting you know too.....that your pain will most likely all be located by the port......I didnt feel a single incision.......but my port area was achy and very tight....but was still no where as painfull as I had expected before hand.

Greatest of luck to you!! If you ever want to chat im in Yahoo messanger, MSN, and I belong to many bandster groups in Yahoo...

10 days post op. surgery went well. no problems with food except deciding what I can and cant have. could use some good recipes ANYONE!!!!!. I am down 10 # s. and I feel hungry alot of the time. the past two days have been hard it just so happens to be that time of the month. Thank you to all for your prayers it feels great to be on the other side. I do have a question about the port area mine seems to be up pretty high. Is this normal????

Christina,

What a good job. I hope everything goes very well for you.

I am just in the starting process of learning about lap banding and so far I am thinking of going to Mexico to a Dr. Joya for surgery. My insurance is not going to cover this at all and my dear mother offered $10,000 for the surgery which I believe they are charging down in Puerta Vallarta. I can't find many doctors around Madison. Found one in Milwaukee but the cost is very high.

Anyway I wish I was where you are now but someday soon, I pray. I am so wanting some help at this point. I am 5'6" and 295. Not a good weight at all.

Hope to talk more this you, Denny

Christina,

How are you doing? I'm 17 days away from Bandlandia! What kind of pre-op "diet" did you have to do, and for how long? Thanks!

Lulu - you are going to Dr. Engstrand, right? If I remember correctly that is the doc you have. Well I can tell you that from meeting with Dr. Burhop the clinic has the same diet for all the lap band patients regardless of who is doing the surgery. It is 12 days full liquids and clear liquids 2 days pre-op. Apparantley they do this to help the liver shrink to give them room when they are performing the operation. I don't know how I am going to get through that because after surgery you are on ANOTHER 2 weeks of clear liquids, 1 week of full liquids and 1 week of mushy food. After that month then you can go onto regular foods. Have you met with the dietician yet for the final meeting? She will give you all that info when you do go. Hope that helps.
