  1. Just an FYI for new bandsters ... So .... im 8 weeks post op and I had to take a flight yesterday. I flew from Baltimore to ATL, then from ATL to Memphis .... I swear as soon as we took off and my ears popped .... I felt the band kinda tighten. Not in a painful or uncomfortable way .... but in a way where I could tell the difference because it seemed harder for me to swallow, and I felt a slight tightness in my chest. I can't really tell if its still tight, as I haven't really eaten today, but I know that I didn't feel that change in tightness on the 2nd flight .... I'll keep you posted
  2. I saw some videos about "twist outs" too and do them sometimes ... but I just wear a very thin headband around the hairline to keep stray hairs off my face .... I am relaxed some sometimes my roots get "thick" from the heat and sweat hahaha. But I just flatiron the roots back straight until It's time for a wash and style again
  3. Erosion is when the band basically enters (or melds) with the throat or stomach right???? I would think that it would need to be removed at that point so that you can fully heal .....
  4. Congrats Mis!!!! That is very commendable! The steering wheel NSV is outstanding! My 1st NSV (Im only 2 months post op) is that my rings fit loose now. they rotate around my fingers with ease and room now! Im looking forward to looser clothes ... but 1 step at a time
  5. Defintely try not to lay down after eating too. Give yourself 3 hrs
  6. So I can stil eat ground meat down the line???? YESSSSSS
  7. CONGRATS!!!! 100 lbs with NO FILL?!!! That is AMAZING! You are on the road to a healthier life, for life! Stick with it and we're so proud of you!!!
  8. I can eat a burger, but I've only got 3.75 cc in my band. I think it varies based on your band adjustments
  9. I wouldnt go by the amount of food youre eating. You should factor in your weight loss, and how long it takes you to get hungry after a meal. If youre hungry in 2 hours, get a fill. If youre hungry in 4 hours and youre still losing weight, you should be just fine.
  10. I heard less than 120g of carbs a day.
  11. My doc told me I didnt need another fill (I dont agree). I dont have any sliming, PB, or stuck episodes .... Im just REALLY hungry at night. Just to update, the Spanx DO actually make me feel like I have greater restriction all day, and night. So on average I eat about 200-300 calories less in a day when I have the spanx on!!!! I wear them to work but tend not to wear them on weekends unless Im partying or something ... but Im going to try and be more proactive and wear them all the time now.
  12. did you only have gastric banding? or did you have plication too?
  13. I bought an organic throat spray of aloe vera extract and some other natural ingredients .... it was $10 at the all natural store. Its supposed to stop sore throat pain from acid reflux and other issues .... i swear by that stuff.
  14. Calorie deficits to lose weight usually go on a weekly system ... SOOOOOOO .... if you ate too much yesterday you could workout extra today or tomorrow and really get yourself back on track. Try it out, I'm sure you will do just fine!
  15. I got the basic chocolate bc I dont like coffee. I hope they're good too!
  16. Yup the groupon ones were like $34 or something. The Body Fortress shots are yucky to me. But I drink them bc I bought like 2 dozen of them and they are quick to drink.
  17. I'm locked in too. I am doing "Warrior Dash" in 3 wks and counting ... so let's use this thread (or create a new one) to check in. Im on my fitness pal too as sunnyhoney11
  18. Congrats!!!! Great before/after pic you look GREAT
  19. LMBO at all the responses!!! I waws always heavy, and I lost 80lbs with Atkins and I noticed a difference. I think I felt differently about myself too so I acted differently. But I gained 30lbs back so I am working to get that off plus some extra. I know that people act differently at resturants, at the gym, at work, not so much while Im out shopping though. B-52 I too find myself analyzing people who have issues with weight when I see them out and about, and Im sure I see myself in some of them too.
  20. I have to force myself not to eat until satisfied .... I have to stop eating when I feel pressure in my band and my breathing gets heavy during my meal. If I eat past that point, I start to get acid reflux starting and Im miserable for hours with tightness in my chest. But even during all of that ... I dont feel "satisfied" ... I just feel like my chest is tight. Listen very carefully for the signs that you have eaten enough. Your body will send them. Also maybe try the "5 Day Pouch Test" - google it - to maybe "reset" your band so that you go back to when you were havign success before.
  21. Creamed spinach, or spinach soufle works for me. Or blend your veggies in a morning shake. Or mash up some cooked peas. Steam your brocoli soft
  22. I do have to chew romaine a LOT to feel comfortable with swallowing it. My bariatric nutritionist said that after 3 mons we shouldnt have problems with letttuce, as it "slides" thru the band. I also like butter lettuce, its easier to chew as well.
  23. Im 7 wks post op and I can eat lettuce as long as its cut up very very very small.
  24. I agree, go get a 2nd fill. My 1st 3.5cc fill didnt do the trick for me either.
