3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
I had the same issue, so much so that I had to go to the urgent care center for impacted stool and other "damage" I did back there. Its VERY important to drink a ton of Water every single day. The water softens the stool up. Take TWO stool softner pills each day, eat activia yogurt and drink prune juice. This is all info given to me by the bariatric nutrionist. If its been 3 days since your last BM, you need to take something to help, like MiraLax. But don't overdo it on the laxative. Hope this helps and good luck

Does $185 Sound About Right?
Where do you live? I think mine billed the insurance for $150, and I had to pay an extra $65 out of pocket for her to write the report for the bariatric surgeron, so that's probably a fair price. I saw a doctor in Columbia MD which is about 40 mins north of DC.

March Bandsters!
Alerker I can't really tolerate any food until about 2-3 hours after I'm awake. I drink a bottle of water during this period. Anything else is just too much. I may be able to get in some hot cereal or yogurt. Maybe a protein shake, but that's still at least 2 hrs after I'm awake and I'm already at work into my day.

2 And A Half Years, Nothing But Complications!!!
harliquinn, Let me start by saying that I am truely sorry and saddened to hear what you are going through. It sounds as if you have discomfort and pain every single day AND night. That is horrible and Im sorry that your prevous surgeon wasn't a good, responsible doctor. Have you gone to see an ENT specialist (not a bariatric surgeon) in reference to your reflux and sleeping issues? Have you see a general physician about the chest pains? If not, I think you should. Also, have you written any letters to your insurance company documenting your pain? I think you should do that as well. Give them dates of pain and doctor appointements, names, and very explicit detail about how you are feeling and what you are going through. Get everything with delivery confirmation. Call them and complain as well. Maybe this will motivate them to consider the removal surgery. I would also advise that you get a malpractice lawyer in reference to your original surgeron and his office. Keep every document relating to his care. Phone records would be good if you have them since you say they called you monthly. Again I am very sorry that you are having an extremely hard time. Im sorry if I can't do anything more than give you a comforting word. I hope that things turn around soon and you get better medical care, or the removal surgery so that things will get better for you.

Drinking Soda's??
Wow I never knew it caused slips. I had diet Sprite yesterday at a cookout. I filled up a cup with ice and I poured the soda, I let it sit for about 10 mins then I stirred it until the bubbles stopped coming up. I read this trick somewhere on the forum. But Ive only had soda twice since surgery

March Bandsters!
lewilli dont fret. I was banded 3/9/12. I lost 3 lbs on the pre-op diet, and Ive lost almost 10 lbs since surgery .... so its moving very SLOW for me. I drink low calorie protein shakes (less than 1150-160 calories per seving) and they are very low sugar - Atkins, Oh Yeah, Premium Nutrition, etc I try to skip breakfast, or have less than 250 cals for breakfast. Im also trying to eat a salad at least once a day with low calorie dressing (light ceasar, french, etc) and just lettuce and carrots I eat tuna, chicken, pork, SOMETIMES ground beef for my protein outside of my shakes, but I LOVE Turkey. Turkey sausage, turkey kielbasa, turkey bacon, turkey burgers .... its great and lower cal than pork or beef I do Skinny Cow desserts and whatnot. Sugar Free Jello/Pudding, etc And I workout at least 3x a week. I just got back from vacation and I gained 4 lbs .... I kept eating oatmeal cream pies LOL but Im trying to get back on track. I noticed that If I do a day of just liquids the scale moves down.

Slight "discomfort" In Throat
Kah, I was 2.5 moths post op when I did warrior dash. It was the HARDEST THING EVER! But I feel like I accomplished something and I "might' do it again. I found this thread last night and I think it answered my question: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/102919-lump-in-throat/page__p__1370626#entry1370626 I'll probably get an unfill when I go see the doctor. I have 4.25cc now in an 11cc band. I'll see if he takes out .5 or 1.0 cc if that makes a difference and let you guys know.

Slight "discomfort" In Throat
Hey all, I have a question to try and see if I need to get an unfill. I recently participated in an "extreme sports" challenge ... WARRIOR DASH. I was completing one of the obstacles where I had to climb up a roof with a rope. I made it to the top, but couldn't make it over, which resulted in me SLIDING down the side of the roof (maybe 15-20 feet). As soon as I got to the bottom I immediately felt a tightness in my chest and it was difficult to breathe. My friends grabbed my arms above my head and told me to calm down. Long story short, things haven't been right since that day. The tightness in my chest and difficulty breathing subsided the same day, but I feel like my band is tighter than it was before I started the dash last week. Now I feel like I am constantly feeling a tightness in the back of my THROAT (not in my chest where my band is). I feel it when I breathe, when I swallow, when I talk, etc. It doesn't hurt at all, but its sooooo annoying. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, or what this is. Could this indicate that I need an unfill?

Judy I just emailed you!

Spanx = Greater Restriction?
I wear the Spanx "higher power brief" that is a panty that goes all the way to the bra line. Its not so restrictive that I cant breathe and feel uncomfortable, but I DO feel more restriction (in my band) when I wear it.

March Bandsters!
Judy what's your email? I have some recipes .... sheppard's pie is good. Chicken casserole, meatloaf, etc.

March Bandsters!
Judy have you tried slow cooking your meat in broth, gravy, or sauce? I sometimes put meat in the oven at 280 degrees for 2-3 hours and let it cook super slow. That makes it tender and the sauce or gravy you cook with it will help it go down. Try dark meat chicken, its more tender and less dry than white meat.

Acid Reflux Is Killing Me
I did not have any acid reflux problems until AFTER I got the band ... I believe (for me) it came from eating like I did before the band - quantity. If I stop eating when I get the tony signal from my bad to stop, I dont get reflux. If I keep eating and try to finish my plate, I get reflux. If I overeat, I get SEVERE reflux and it feels horrible. Your issue could be eating too much, OR it could be that your band is too tight. If you take 1-2 small well-chewed bites, and youre still having reflux, then your band might be too tight. I would suggest a small unfill, or eat less if that quantity of food is the problem.
