The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg
"I will not miss people being dismissive of my intelligence, beauty and drive bc I'm fat." Perfect. You are spot on. I was thin and brilliant for 40 years until I became obese and not worth paying attention to.

Difficulty Taking Tablets Post-Op
I'm a terrible pill taker. I have cut out all pills that aren't medically necessary and use gummies whenever that is an option.

I liked Fage plain Greek yogurt. It is high in Protein and counts as a liquid, too. It tastes like sour cream, though, so it is not to everyone's taste.

How Would You Respond?
sleevedude and I made a great point. I know you were excited about your weight loss and it sounds as though your dad was, too. Okay, he shouldn't have told about it if you asked him not to but you also stepped over that line by bragging about the weight loss on facebook of all things and then not expecting someone to mention weight loss surgery.. If a person wants discretion, they have to practice it.

Did your nutritionist suggest anything? What type of diet are you on? Different doctors use different pre-op diets. For example, some require no dieting and others require three weeks of dieting. Some require liquids only and others allow some meals.

Why Me?
I'm glad you are getting over your complication so quickly.

How Would You Respond?
I'm sorry this happened to you. Posting the information about your weight on facebook is asking for inquiries. It doesn't go along with your desire to have only a select few know about the surgery. Your father is definitely wrong, but there is nothing to be done about it now.

I Change My Mind Every Other Hour!
I'm not sure the surgery is all that risky. It is certainly less risky than the severe complications and possible early death from obesity.

I Change My Mind Every Other Hour!
It does seem as though you have decided to do this. From what I have read on this board, for some people the deciding is worse than the surgery! You will do well.

Advice Please!
It's not a sign you shouldn't do it. It is an unfortunate event. Hang in there and start over with the new surgeon. It is tough and I don't blame you for feeling cheated, but you can do it. How much is your deductible, if you don't mind telling us? Please keep us informed. We care. Have you actually talked to the surgeon? My surgeon decided what testing I needed, not the hospital. Maybe he/she will be willing to work with you. Sassygirl is right; there is nothing like a face to face discussion.

My Update
Thanks for the post. I'm glad things are going well for you.

Couldnt Do Surgery-Liver Size
My doctor also refuses to do or finish a surgery with a liver that is too large. He says that then he would be more likely to nick the liver and cause problems. If the liver has been shrunk, it gives him room for the procedure.

When To Call Insurance?
The insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office handled this for me. I don't know what experience others may have had.

Couldnt Do Surgery-Liver Size
This is a blow and I understand your disappointment. Take a minute to let it get to you...... Now that the minute is up, make your plans for losing the 20 pounds. Before my surgery, I joined Weight Watchers and lost more than 20 pounds in a few months. You can stay on the liquid diet. Weight can be lost any number of ways, it's the keeping it off that is tough and you won't have to go through the agony of trying to keep it off once you've had the surgery. So get up and keep going for the golden ring. You made your decision; now you have to make it happen. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Golf.... How Long Did You Wait To Start Playing.
Have you asked your doctor or someone in his/her office? It seems that different doctors have different programs for what you can do when.

What All Do You Do Before Surgery?
Did you mean everything before the surgeon's appt.? The order of my preparation was as follows: --Seminar conducted by the surgeon for people thinking about weight loss surgery. This was free. --Appointment with surgeon. Covered by insurance with co-pay. --My doctor did require $495 after the first visit with him. This was to cover the binder full of information they provided me and various other administrative expenses. The $495 was out of pocket. --Blood tests and x-rays. These were covered by insurance with a co-pay. --Barium test in which a doctor looked at my digestive system. This was covered by insurance with a co-pay. --Appointment with therapist for go-ahead on surgery. This was covered by insurance with a co-pay. --Appointments with primary care physician for diet and exercise guidance. This was covered by insurance with a co-pay. --Appointment with surgeon. Covered by insurance with co-pay. --Surgery. Covered by insurance. --Follow-up bloodword and visits with surgeon. Covered by insurance with co-pay. I obviously do not know what your insurance will cover and to what extent, but you can see the preparation for the surgery began with a visit with the doctor. Everything else flowed from that.
