Feeling your port
I couldn't feel mine at all at first, so when I finally lost enough stomach fat to feel it I was actually pretty excited. ...my kids weren't nearly as enthusiastic when I ran through the house squealing "wanna feel my port?"

Anyone have any experience with FMLA?
For FMLA, you'll have to get the required paperwork from your employer. You will have to have your doctor fill it out then give it to your HR department. To qualify, you have to have been employed with your currently employer for at least 1 year. When on FMLA time, your employer does not have to pay you nor do they have to promise your same job upon your return. All they are required to do is give you a job of comparable pay and ability upon your return. Hope that helps!

Does your Surgeon...
Yes, actually. Either he or one of his staff calls me a couple days after every fill to make sure I'm doing ok. It's one of the many reasons I love my surgeon and his staff. I'm very glad to hear you have a good one too!

Flustered
Personally, I simply couldn't logically justify hacking out 3/4 of my stomach or re-routing my intestines. I also didn't want to deal with dumping, Vitamin deficiencies, or malabsorbtion either. So, for me the only logical choice was the Lap Band. I honestly can't think of a single con. I have had a great experience with my band and would do it again in a heart beat. Best wishes.

disappointed
I was told I could eat right up until the time I started eating then again 30 minutes after eating. So, I was pretty much sipping Water or green tea constantly except for that half hour after eating. Heck, I'm still sipping water or green tea constantly

Bandster hell?
Yes, it's very much bandster hell. The way I survived it was I spread out my calories so I could eat every 2 hours. I never ate more than a cup of food and never went over my daily calorie allowance, but by budgeting my calories so I could eat every 2 hours I was able to control the hunger and still lose weight despite being in bandster hell. I know bandster hell sucks but just remember it's temporary. Hang in there!

Post op gas still?? Whats going on??
No you're not going nuts. It can take a couple weeks for that gas pain to subside unfortunately. The reason the gas x strips aren't working and you can't burp is because the gas isn't in your digestive system, it's in your abdominal cavity. The best thing you can do is walk as much as you can handle because it will help your body re-absorb it faster. Some also find a heating pad will help ease the discomfort.

Troublesome foods
Honestly, there isn't anything I can't eat. It's rare I even get stuck. The food I'm most likely to get stuck on is dry meat, though. I was banded 14 months ago, I have 5.2cc in my 10cc band, and I've lost 196 pounds.

Unfilled band question
I agree with Holly, if you're already measuring and counting calories, you're going to great with your band. You're already way ahead of most at this stage!!

Restriction
If you're having night reflux, I would call your doctor and see what he advises. Reflux is a warning sign of a band too tight. It's always better safe than sorry so let your doctor decide. Best wishes.

Faces Don't Lie....
Holy cow that's a HUGE difference!! You look about 10 years younger, too! You're so beautiful both inside and out!! What an inspiration!

You think Lap Band surgery is high? Check this out...
Wow what an eye opening video. Thanks for sharing.

Green zone
It's when you have enough Fluid in your band to control your hunger. If you can eat a cup or less of food and go at least 4 hours without hunger, you're in the Green Zone.

Bacon??
There isn't anything you can't eat, however, whether or not it's a wise food choice is another matter completely. I think you'd have to figure out how many calories and how much fat is in it. You may also want to consider it's sodium content too. If after doing this you decide you still want it, just be sure you work it into your daily calorie allowance. Best wishes

Just venting
The only way you can know if your band slipped is by having your doctor check it. You wouldn't necessarily have symptoms. I would strongly suggest going to see your nutritionist so they can help you get back on track and establish food guidelines you can live with. I would also discuss your issues with your surgeon. It's imperative you get your eating habits under control with the band before you do hurt yourself. Your surgeon and nutritionist can help you do that. Best wishes.

Unfilled band question
Yes, in fact most people do need multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their band. But please keep in mind the band isn't supposed to cause discomfort or stop you from eating anything. So don't assume just because you can eat/gulp without a problem doesn't mean you need a fill. If you can't go at least 4 hours on cup or less of food without being hungry, then you need a fill. Best wishes.

An addicts successful realization.
You're doing GREAT, keep at it!!!

disappointed
Until you have adequate Fluid in your band, you will likely feel like you don't have a band at all. It takes most people multiple fills before they're finally in the Green Zone. The only way I made it through that phase you're in is by spacing my calories through the day to allow me to eat every 2 hours. I never went over my daily calorie allowance and never ate more than a cup of food per meal, but eating every 2 hours helped me to control the hunger until I had adequate fluid in my band. It also helped me to consistently lose weight during that time, too. Hang in there, it does get better.

Saggy Skin
Everything you said is totally true, however unfortunately in this case this post is no more than a sales pitch. The link is to her own website, she's trying to make money off selling these (useless) things to us. This is the second person trying to sell the identical product here in the last month, btw.

Refills
Nope I honestly don't feel it at all, not even a prick.
-
Refills
Every doctor seems to have their own way to do fills. Some numb it first and others don't. I've never heard of a surgeon using sedation for a fill, to me that would be overkill. Mine doesn't numb it but I never feel it anyway. It's really no biggie.
-
Re fill?
I think you should leave that decision up to your surgeon. If you had to have .25cc removed then getting that same amount put back in would likely be a mistake. If you have another fill, I would try a smaller amount, like even .1cc

When did your toughest weight loss plateau occur?
My biggest plateau was 9 months after surgery. I went on the birth control pill and my weight loss came to a screeching halt for 6-7 weeks. It was incredibly frustrating. The way I finally broke it was by carb cycling for a few weeks. Ever since I've been consistently losing approximately 8-12 pounds a month.

Restriction Not Happening
Perfectly said! You totally nailed it!
