Your tastes will definitley change as you "Mature" with the band. Things that you used to crave, will turn you off.
Not only has my tastes changed, and still changing, but I am getting more and more disinterested in food / eating altogether.
I can go all day without eating, if I am pre-occupied with something else, and not be bothered one bit.
There are times I can't make up my mind what I want to eat for dinner, to the point I say the heck with it.
It's all part of the signal the band sends to the brain. It is not a feeling of being FULL or STUUFED. It is a lack of interest!!

Exercise can help lift the mood, i have days still where things seem a little pointless and i feel like crying but i get on my bike and go for a ride and by the time i get home i feel much better and dont even think of the down mood i was in before i went. Maybe go for a brisk walk to ease the blues.
Dont forget its winter in most places and some of us will be under the effects of the time of year where a lot of people feel like you do. I am sure you will feel happier once you get your routine back and start to really see the band do its work. I used to cry a lot more before i had the band fitted so the odd days of it now are far far less

Some days I just couldn't get them all down as well. It works out. I also struggled to get in all the Protein and Fluid after surgery. Now I am one month out and its fine. Just hang in there and do the best you can.

I went for my pre-op weigh in today- I had to lose 4 lbs and I lost 12! So happy! I was on the 2 shakes/1 small Protein & veggies meal but the shakes gave me (sorry, this is gross) diarrhea, so I only had 1 per day, and substituted an egg white omelet w 1 slice ff cheese, 2 c. lettuce & 1 TBSP fat free dressing. They told me today I could go back on 1200 cals./day up till surgery. I feel like I've died and gone to heaven. Today I had 4 oz NY strip, 1 c whole wheat angel hair Pasta w sauteed mushrooms. I feel full and GREAT! The surgeon said I could! Yay!!!!!!!!

today is my 34th bday, and im 9 days post op and i had one of the best bdays ever. yes, i wish i had my usually bday dinner, my yummy cake and much more food for my day, but i did the total opposite. i did nothing and was now where food was. i went to get my hair done, and spent time at the park with the kids, now watching a movie with my family, food free. haha wat a day. im loving this journey and my discipline to follow dr's orders. this is my year and now im in control of it!

Before my surgery I would go through 3 or 4 12-packs a week. I gave it up cold turkey the day of my surgery and haven't had one in almost 4 years. I don't miss it one bit!

I had a time right after surgery where I cried. For me I went through a period of "mourning" for the food I wasn't going to be able to eat anymore and having regrets about what I did. My doctor did warn me that it might happen. It went away once I got the hang of how I'm supposed to eat AND the weight started coming off. It does get better!

I unfortunately work where there is a fountain pepsi machine in our breakroom. I too was drinking about 5-6 diet Dr. Pepper's in a day. I've actually given it up two weeks before surgery and haven't craved it at all. Funny though because I got conflicting info from my surgeons office. They say NO CARBONATED beverages ever, however one of the nurses who happened to have gastric bypass surgery said "there are no studies indicating that it has an effect on the bands, but the phosphates in soda bind to your Calcium on a cellular level so the heart thinks it doesn't have calcium to pump and it pulls it out of your bones- thats why we have a pandemic of osteoparosis." REALLY? I was shocked that she would even indicate that it "might" be ok from a lapband standpoint to drink a soda! I'm staying off of it, because I'm a junkie when it comes to soda. I've given it up and do not want to even start!

My recommendation to you is stay off the scale. Especially if you are weight training or building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, pay attention to how you look, feel, and inches. You may want to eliminate the pretzels and replace it with Protein. You are only five weeks out so you are doing fine. Only hop on the scale when you go to the doctor. Don't be discouraged, stay focused.

It sounds to me like your mind is messing with you a bit. I know the feeling......you want every single pound gone right now. 5 weeks is not that long. Give yourself credit and keep your eye on the prize. It takes some time. One year from now you will be basking in success.

How are you feeling? Im sure youre experiencing the typical gas pains. I think theyre kind of a right of passage or something in the band world. Keep walking!
    Keep us posted.

First off congratulations. make sure you walk daily as much possible. You will have gas pains but they will subside. Keep in mind that right now it is about healing, not about losing weight. I have read a lot of post of people upset with themselves because they are not dropped major weight. They are only a few weeks out of surgery. So make sure you focus on healing, the weight loss will come. Make sure you are getting you Protein in and taking Multivitamins. That is important to healing. Get you rest and do not lift anything. Most important, follow the rules your doctor has provided. Congratulations again, and welcome to the journey.
