I had the conversion back on July. In the hospital for 3 days out of work for 2 weeks felt great after a week. Had no issues at all. Good luck!

Adding the Protein to the veggies kills two birds with one stone. When I had the lap band they were a waste of space today I love them. Protein and veggies!!!

I hear you all. There are, and have been, plenty of time I wish I had never had the surgery. I LOVED the entire experience of eating. It is all psychological. This continues to weigh on my thoughts, and I feel regret at times. BUT, knowing this about myself, and how easy it would be to cheat by over eating, I now know that I NEED this tool, this procedure, to put the brakes on and force change. After having the surgery, I have taken charge by taking choice out if the equation, the choice to be wreckless with my eating habits. I HAVE to slow down and make myself aware if everything I put in me. The fear of nausea & vomiting is a great eating inhibitor, and the weight loss is a wonderful benefit. And the time it has taken me to heal and adapt to my be stomach has allowed me to slowly change the way I view my wants and needs where food and nutrition is concerned. One of these days I will actually attend a support group and see if that helps. I'm lucky to have the support of family, friends, and this group, to get thru the inconvenient times. Hang in there... This is truly life changing...

I almost licked the juice from some baked Beans but was afraid. I see the doc on Wednesday and hoping I get the green light for puréed. My husband promised me his famous chili but he's using turkey instead of beef.

I'm two days out and waiting for the pain everyone is having. I have no gas pains, no sin from surgery ANC I can keep my liquids down. I also got my period but it's not to bad. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I'm on day 3 of my pre op. first day sucked but it's gotten a bit better. I'm on hmr800 and I can add some sugar free Gelatin and pudding to the shakes which makes a huge difference. My surgery is on 7/24

I'm four years out, let me pass on the one piece of advice that keeps me sane: stop weighing yourself since it is the worse measure of 'sucess' that we can use.
As you loose the fat you will exercise more and gain muscle. Who on earth thinks that body builders are fat? Ask any buff trainer you know and they will tell you that they do not fall within the weight limits for their age - if they only measure weight and inches these buff ones are fat. Eventually gaining a little weight (muscle) is a good and heathly thing for us (though it does scare you when it happens).
If you want to measure something it should be body fat percentage. There's a special scale and/or hand held device to measure if for you most gyms or doctors offices will have a one. There's a formula too you can Google if your a math-y and want to calculate it yourself. Find the chart of body fat percentages for age and gender by level of fitness (athletes/fit/acceptable/obese) on Google as well.
About 5 months out I too was feeling bad, like I was failing. After talking with my doctor, my trainer, and other RNY folks, I got off the weight scale and switched to body fat %. You know I was just inside the acceptable range and within 3% of fit!? Holy s**** I was HEALTHY!! Now I had a new goal, I wanted FIT. A few more months of eating well and exercise, tada, I got there and never once did I check my weight.
But even the % of fat thing got old, now I use the ultimate in simple to measure my success: Do my 'little' clothes still fit right? As soon as something feels tight I buckle down again and get on track. I crack out the food diary and exercise routine until I'm back in the little sexy black dress I bought to Celebrate reaching the 'fit' level.
I have no idea how much I weigh and haven't for 3 and a 1/2 years, all I know is my clothes still fit! Even when I go for a checkup I tell the nurse before I get on the scale that I don't want to know the number, then I turn my back and get on. I keep my eyes closed for good measure (no pun intended).
Getting off the a scale maybe the kindest thing to do for yourself, there are better measures of success for you then a number. Maybe for you it's playing with the kids, or walking up stairs, or running a marathon... Pick something and step down off that madding machine.

Dani G - You know it's never a bad thing to continue with therapy. Losing weight is such a mind game 99% of the time. I had the lapband as well and stress does play games with it. I bet once you get the stress level down, you will lose more weight or have less trouble with the band but, I also know first hand it's not easy to do. I started to see a therapist outside of my bariatric group that works with eating disorders and eating issues and she's been a big help in teaching me how to reduce my stress. I also practice reiki and meditation which has helped alot. Good luck with your journey of getting the stress under control...you're worth your effort
