OMG. Dialated Fundus. That sounds awful. I am so sorry to hear that you are now dealing with such pain. That must be very frustrating and disheartening after all you have gone through to get this surgery and try to get yourself to a more healthy weight. I chose GPS as it was the only option that I could wrap my mind around as a possible solution that I could live with but I do realize after reading so many reviews that restriction is a very delicate and possibly temporary state. I just hope I will be able to get off most of my excess weight before my restriction goes away. I also pray that my change in eating habits and increased exercise will allow me to maintain that weight loss through traditional methods of weight control. I don't want to sound like "PolyAnna" but I do acknowledge the challenges I may face. As for the pain you are dealing with, well that is a whole different issue and I hope that I am not dealing with that in a few months as like you, I would find life like that intolerable for any length of time. Please keep us updated on what will be done to fix your dilated fundus and how your recovery goes after that. I wish you the best outcome possible.

Dr. Watkins at Cincinnati weight loss performed my GPS last week (jan 18th). My husband, Bill and i flew from Arkansas there for me to have the surgery. Dr. Watkins and his staff are amazing. All screening, consultations and medical record information, authorization forms, surgical center registration, etc. was done via telephone, email, etc. We came in early the day before the surgery and since we had early flights I had asked if I could stop by the office and meet everyone. I met with Diana and discussed my last few questions and was then introduced around the office to meet the other staff members that I had spoken with on the phone. Dr. Watkins was not in the office when we arrived and I honestly didn't expect to see him since we didn't have an appointment but I was informed that he had left instructions to be paged when I arrived so he could could come back to meet me and discuss any questions Bill or I might have. Speaking with Dr. Watkins, in person, before the surgery really helped my anxiety level. He is very kind, considerate and supportive in addition to being very accomplished in his speciality. Bill and I also decided to stop by the surgery center and check it out. We met with one of the nurses named Connie who stopped what she was doing and took us on a tour of the facility. As for the surgery, everything went as scheduled. I had a problem with pain level when I first came out of surgery but the competent staff addressed it quickly while I was in recovery. After that I slept a lot but my husband told me that Dr. Watkins checked on me several times. The surgical center staff was so attentive, the rooms were nice and I am very grateful for them taking such good care of me and being there to keep Bill updated so he didn't have to worry. In summary I would 100% recommend Dr. Watkins, his staff and the UC surgical center without any reservations.

I appreciate your comments TijuanaPlication. I am too close and have struggled with this decision far too long (to the point of a break down at times) so I am going forward. As I look at the boards I see those who are happy with their results and those who are not which proves the point that we are all so different and what will work for some will not work for others and vice versa, much the same as any diet I have been on. So, I am very sorry that it has not worked for you. In my prayers for it to work for me, I will include a prayer for you that you will find the perfect combination or procedure that will work for you as well. Thanks again for your input. This board, all the encouragement and honest feedback has been a sanity saver for me.

I had pretty much narrowed it down to him too but my husband put his foot down about me leaving the states for the surgery. I hear such wonderful reports of the fabulous treatment by Dr. Ortiz and his staff, I know you will come through spendidly! Yes, we absolutely must keep in touch. who is your Dr. I am also scheduled on the 18th but I haven't heard anything about a master cleanse.

Hi all. I really appreciate you all posting your progress, experiences and suggestions. I am a 55 year old female and I have to do something. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I lost 80 lbs several years ago and have gained every bit of that back and then some. I used to hear those stories and think how does someone let themselves do that? I can't explain how I let it happen, it just did. Yes, I know it was my poor choices and lack of exercise but what I don't get is why I couldn't stop myself knowing how unhappy I was when I was heavy....anyway this is the end of my sob story. I have three small grandchildren and I intend to get myself healthy, active and enjoy a long and healthy life with them, our grown children and my supportive husband. Thank you all for listening and I will update as soon as I am able after my surgery. I now know I have a great support system and feel prepared to take on the next step in my life.
