Feeling like I don't deserve this
TheNewMrsR replied to PinkFreud's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Here's my take... YES! You do deserve this and better to do it now while you're young and relatively healthy rather than waiting until your older with medical issues. Also I tried many many diets, fad diets, weight loss plans, went through bouts of course anorexia, bulimia, binge and purge, laxatives, phen-fen, dexatrim, Atkins, weight watchers, lapband and so cleanse diets.... You know what that got me? It got me a metabolism that hoards fat because it knows I'm trying to starve them all out. It got my body so messed up that I'm the person whose been sleeved and only looses about 1-2 pounds a week while I watch everyone else losing 40-50-60 pounds the first 6-8 weeks post op. Now is the best time of your life to do it before you ruin your metabolism and suffer another 30+ years of your life as an obese person... Heck yeah you deserve it at this stage of your life! Good luck! Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm so lost right now!
TheNewMrsR replied to Miss Sweden's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal to have doubts before surgery... Also totally normal to have buyer's regret every once in a while for the first few weeks after surgery... This too shall pass and 6 months after surgery you'll wonder why you waited so long to do it. Sure we can all lose weight on our own but most of us gain it back plus more every time. This is a whole complete change that forces us to eat less and make better choices. Can we cheat? Yes. Can we gain it back? Yes. There is no 100% fail proof magic fix. But this is an opportunity to get yourself healthy and stay there because you can only eat small portions and then your full. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Did your spouse's weight change after YOUR surgery?
TheNewMrsR replied to Polly Pocket's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine is staying the same do far. He never has been one to finish what's on my plate and he still eats the same as always. He's only about 15 pounds overweight so he said if he decides he wants to lose it he would put this mind to it and do it. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -

No change in hunger
TheNewMrsR replied to Patrick powers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1 hour at a time. Find something that occupies your time and your mind so you're not thinking about food. Make sure you are getting at least 64 ounces of water, protein water, broth whatever you are allowed in addition to your protein shakes. You can do this and soon this phase will be forgotten and you'll be enjoying more and more things to eat along with better health. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
You're not big enough for weight loss surgery" What do you say?
TheNewMrsR replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good question. I'm on the lower side too or I should say I wear my weight well and don't look like I need to lose 75 pounds but I do. I'm not telling people but I totally get what you're saying which is partly why I'm not telling people. I'd just explain that it was a decision you and your Dr. decided was a good option for you in order to get you into good health. It's a deeply personal choice that is not for everyone. Just remember it's about YOU not them. If they feel some kind of way than maybe that just a reflection of their own feelings and has nothing to do with you. As long as you don't gloat or act like you're better than they are because you are getting surgery than they should have no room to try and read your mind or put words in to your mouth regarding how you feel about anyone else. Good luck. I wish you much success! Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
How much walking is too much, post surgical?
TheNewMrsR replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I walked 2 miles in laps the day of surgery after I woke up. The next day I had to wait for hubby to pick me up and walked 4 miles in laps. Neither of those we're all at once. I found a route around the ward that was a 1/4 mile and every hour or so I'd walk the loop a couple times. The nurses were astonished and asked if I was practicing for a marathon? They said I deserved an award. Hahaha. However, once I got home and the pain meds wore off that they had been shooting into my IV, I slowed down to only a couple miles a day in 1/4 miles loops around my apartment building parking lot a few times a day. I'm almost three weeks out and feeling great for the most part. I was cleared for mushies a week ago and have a lot more energy since then. I can walk a couple miles without getting so winded and feeling like I was going to pass out. I eat one or two small meals a day and then have one or two shakes plus my water, protein water, popcicles, etc. I have not lost a single pound since I started on mushies. My calories are around 600-800 calories a day. I'm thinking of going back to only liquids. I don't like being in a stall so soon. How are all my other November sleevers doing? I hope everyone is feeling good and energetic. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

Old veteran, getting back on track
TheNewMrsR replied to gmanbat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How's everyone doing? Had anyone lost anymore? Is anyone struggling? I'm 13 days out from lap band to sleeve revision so I feel like this is my back on track opportunity. I gained back about 75% of my lapband loss so I have great strides to make. Plus I never got to goal. Never reached that last 35 pounds so this time I'm going for all of it! I have 75 pounds to lose. Let's do this!!!! Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Honestly, it wasn't all in one shot and each loop I made was about a quarter mile which didn't even seen like that far. I think I passed three different nurses stations in that distance. Baby steps. It's not a race. Just do what you can. It is not that bad when broken up over several outings and going slow just passing people, saying hi and smiling and joking with others along the way. It makes the day go by. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

How am I supposed to fly on a plane with my meal replacement shakes?
TheNewMrsR replied to bogglesauce's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take powder packets and a blender/shaker bottle. Flew to California with mine. Bought water in the airport after I was past security. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
