This is the best support system, everyone is so nice and all the comments and posts are so helpful! I know it has helped me through this process. Being banded next week! Good luck! The site was down yesterday and I about died! So close to surgery, I like to come here for support and to learn more peoples experiences. So glad it's up and running! Cathy

    Ready Set Go?

It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. My control is mostly from being so head strong I have gotten into the "i'm ready" mode and it has been fine. I don't eat after 6 and I usually do 5pm. I do drink a lot of water. I started walking and riding an indoor exercise bike. Good luck you will do fine!

Losing Weight "naturally" - A Rant

I so agree with you! I have only told two people too. My cousin who is like a Sister and my best friend. I don't want to be judged for how I lose the weight. I am doing this to be healthy so if anyone i know is waiting for me to suddenly "naturally" drop 75pounds it's not gonna happen and I know that. I'm not waiting to get healthy because i might be harshly judge for "cheating" and losing the weight. I need to lose it now and I don't need to feel like I am watched the whole way! So that's why I have limited who I told. It took me a while to decide, but think this is the best way for me. Happy losing!

    Intro And Questions!

Hi Athena! personally I went back and forth trying to weigh out the differences and what was best for me and I guess that's what it comes down to. I take a medication that I have taken for years and I was afraid of malabsorption and I really need the medicine, so I decided that the band was reversible if I needed to. I don't plan on reversing it, but if I need to it's an option. I think that if you incorporate exercise into your daily routine then you will lose a lot more. It is a tool, not a fix. I have also been to support groups where people had gotten gall stones with gastric bypass surgery and that scared me. I don't need more problems than I started out with. That's why I chose the lap band. It's not easy either way. I think you are making the right decision either way. Good luck and stick to your decision to lose weight either way. Good luck!
  12. I was wondering if it is better to stay in the hopsital for the night if that is an option. I have 3 teens at home and I take care of my Dad. So although I don't like to stay at the hospital if I don't have to, but thinking the rest might be helpful. Any opinions on this? Will I be groggy?

  13. So today was my best day so far on the liquid diet attempt! I'm not required to do it I thought it would be a good idea! Rode my bike 5 miles! Kudos to me! Nerves still pretty high but they are getting better as I get closer! So far so good!

  16. Keep me posted! My surgery is the 19th.Good luck!
  17. Everything you are thinking is normal. Deciding to have the lap band is a process. I know I had to come to terms with it and finally decided (after a year) that it was what I needed to do. I know it definitely won't be easy, but it's worth the challenge and I don't plan to look back now! I am scheduled for surgery on the 19th and as it gets closer I am nervous but excited. Think it over and weigh out what it encompasses and then make your decision. Just remember we are stronger than we think. I will let you know that this site is a god send and you will get the support you need. best wishes!

  21. This weekend was tough. I tried full liquid diet and planned to work up to clear liquids by Monday! So it would go well until night time. The plan was to have a protein shake for a.m. and p.m. and my meal in the middle of the day. Fail! I should keep to a.m. and noon protein shakes and small meal before 5pm! So here's to Monday and a new start. try try again!

    Fears And Concerns

None of these is silly! You are right with a lot of us who are going through this! A lot of those same things are what I worry about. I am afraid of judgement any way. Be it fat or thin. People are judgemental and it would suck to be them. This site is the best place to go for support! I think we understand each other most of the times.Keep up the good work and just know that what you are feeling is COMPLETELY normal!
