  1. Don't be surprised if later on you actually get depressed over not being able to eat as much. I went through that about 5 or 6 months in. When I first started to get restriction, it was tough. It's hard to break up with food. Especially when you have to see it everyday. You are on the first upward climb of the roller coaster. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!

Love that phrase, breaking up with food! We really are, aren't we.

  2. Girls can be our best friends or the biggest .....well you know. You walk in that work tomorrow with your SKINNY head held high. Rumors are rumors until we don't feed into them with negative energy. Positive thoughts girl. The truth is between you and God above and it doesn't matter what procedure you had done- you did it for YOU and your kiddos, so don't let them take that away. Kind of like you can't change stupid......you can't take the b*tc% out of a b*tc%!

  3. Old habits are what got me fat to begin with, but boy are they sure hard to break! I'm batteling the voice in my head going, you can only eat at most 1 c at a meal so you better eat it all or you will be hungry later. I need to learn that even if I only eat three bites of a boca burger and I'm full, to STOP. I need to let Prudence do her job. Its a work in progress for sure!

  4. I am being banded on March 9th am not being able to drink is something I am worried about. Are you ever able to drink after eating? Or is that just for first couple months? And do you get used to it? It just seems so difficult because I am always drinking something. I keep a drink with me at all times.

It actually was easier than I thought. It becomes a game. I just look at the clock on my phone when I'm done eating and know what time I can drink. I actually practiced before surgery. I think it helped to do that to get used to it. But also, you will be full. Its weird, but it just works itself out.

  5. We are very similar! I was banded jan 11th and I'm down about the same...let me ask you, were you happy with what you lost so far or were you hoping for more? Because I was...

I'm thrilled to death with my weight loss. I think because I've worked for it to. I work with a girl who had the sleeve done over a year ago. She lost quickly, but didn't work for it. She still doesn't exercise, she eats like **** and I'm proud at the fact that I've had to use some restraint. I HAVE been hungry between meals. This was such a life changing decision. I'm following my nutritionists recommendations, I'm exercising, so it feels real to have lost what I've lost. My goal is to lose another 50lbs by July and I know I can do it. Have you been filled yet? I just got filled today and LOOOOOVEEE being full between meals (only liquids today!). Keep in touch!

  6. SO awesome Suzie! Wow 40lbs, such an inspiration! I know what you mean about keeping protein drinks in your car. I have a baby container (literally purchased in the baby aisle) that has three sections. They each fit one scoop (20g protein) powder in it and I ALWAYS have my shaker with me. I just never want to be somewhere and give in because I'm not prepared.

I went out to eat at one of our favorite italian restaurants where I would normally consume about three beer bread rolls, 1/2 of a huge cheese garlic bread and then a full plate of pasta. TONIGHT though I had a literal pinch of bread, then I ordered the grilled salmon with baked potato and broccoli. I had her bring out a box with the meal and immediately wrapped up most of it. I had "just enough". I'm still finding when that last bite it, you know. I also think its funny that everyone kept saying, are you SURE you don't want something to drink? I finally got a tea and took a few sips (timing it so I would not be eating 15min. before) so it worked out perfectly then I took the tea to go.

Have you had a fill yet? I'm kink of looking forward to the 9th of Feb. I've done really well, but looking forward to no hunger between meals.

Keep up the fabulous new you!

  7. MAGS2U - PLEASE< PLEASE<PLEASE be careful! You are not supposed to do any strenuous excercise or lifting for the first 6 weeks after surgery. The first 6 weeks are for HEALING. Please take care of yourself......

My doc cleared me on my 1 week follow up to exercise. Of course no lifting for 6 weeks. I definitely adjust accordingly when first starting out-like I wouldn't do the knee bends, or belly shaking stuff, but moving is good and feels great! :-)

  8. I am hoping to return to work in 4 days. So what do you think the likleyhood of that is? I work 1/2 half a day and I work a non strenuous job. Hope it will be o.k. I had surgery in November(unrelated) so I have already had to take some time off. I am in the fat closet ! What do you suggest? So glad you are feeling better!

I'll be honest. Everyone is different, but I was still in pain and just generally feeling pooped out. If you are only working 1/2 day might be doable, but just don't overdo it. AND make sure you bring plenty of jello, etc to work if you will still be on clears at that point. You don't want to be at work "stuck". Best of luck, let me know how it goes!

  9. I agree that this is a great site to come to for support with people that have actually gone through the same thing. Although I haven't had my surgery yet, I'm so excited about my next phase of life; healthier, happier, skinnier. Congrats on your beginning of the journey! Best of luck.
