Tomorrow is my birthday... yep I will be celebrating my 2nd anniversary in my forties. Anyway, my boyfriend was suppose to arrive home tonight from his business trip. He called and said no he has another trip that will keep him away another ten days. What sucks was he left the day after my surgery when I was still in the hospital. Now, we all know when we get stress we eat, all of us have done. Last yr I would have taken myself out to a restaurant, the fanciest one to celebrate. However, today I am only 1 week post op. It is a lot to work through knowing we cant turn to food and use it has a crutch, but I made that choice. It will benefit me and my health will improve. It is to early to shop for new clothes, maybe a movie tomorrow... who knows.

Oh honey... it will happen... maybe not right now but it will... your health is very important and seriously with the surgery coming up I know you want everything to be perfect... keep smiling and stay positive

I mix mine with soy milk or yogurt, they both were allowed on my pre op diet.

The first time I started my journey I was interested in the Lap Band which also required the psych evaluation. I meet with him and he required me to lose 5 pds in one month which was successful. When I began my journey for the sleeve I had to revisit another psych. It was much harder, there were several test required. Anyway, the psych was a bear and, well I will be nice. She said things such as I was a emotional eater (duh) and my test indicated I didnt like to take orders, etc. Anyway, I was required to go to counseling which I first resented, however I do like my therapist now and she has helped through this journey. I was also required to start taking depression medication which has helped after it being switched several times. I also do believe it will help me through this adjustment of the surgery and what is to come. My advice is to jump through whatever hoops they need you to, it might help you and it will be required for insurance purposes. Good luck.

I am glad to hear others are experiencing similar problems. I was terrific it was only me. I started my period the day after my surgery and it is a horrible flow. I havent bleed like this in years, it seems nonstop. I am concerned because of the decrease in calories and vitamins which is causing me to feel fatigue and dizzy. Good Luck and I hope the pain stops soon.

I am only getting in 30 oz a fluid a day which doesnt even equal 600 calories. Just keep sipping. The nurse told me we all responded differently to the sleeve and she wasn't worried. I did have to stop taking my liquid vitamin and start the chewables because of vomiting. If you have any concerns call your doctor if you aren't feeling well. This is all so new. I was telling a friend today that usually by 730 am I would have eaten three donuts, now I cant even get in 4 oz. Good Luck

It will get better... I experienced the same thing and had to stay an extra two days. Some of us are more sensitive and need a little TLC. You will be feeling great soon... Good luck

sounds silly... but being able to shift myself around in the bed comfortable, now it seems like I wake everyone just trying to turn around... I am also looking forward to being able to lift myself up from the water rafts at Aquatic this summer with ease instead of struggling and thinking how I am going to get off the ground without embarrassing myself.

Congrats, it will get better.... I was just sleeved Jan 2oth. A whole different world to adjust to. Take care and I hope you have a quick recovery.

Did they prescribe nausea medicine to you when you left the hosp? Maybe you should start taking them or call your doctor and request them. My doctor mention this exact scenario to me before I left the hosp and said if so start back to the basics with a clear liquid diet for a few days and gradually work yourself back through the stages. Don't beat your self up if you slip up and cheat. We are all human and are still dealing with emotional issues, stress, etc. We didnt become heavy overnight and our weight is not going to disappear overnite. I thought the pre op diet was hard and I fixed it to work for me. I was not losing weight on the diet they prescribed and I was feeling weak and dizziness and unable to maintain my strength to wrestle with inmates. Instead of the three yogurts I was allowed a day I ate cheese instead, which count my carbs even more and allowed more protein. I also ate more than the cup of salad that was allowed on my diet. I did drink my protein shakes as advised though. When my surgery was over the I talked to the doctor about my decision and the doctor said my liver was the best he had ever seen, and I had lost twelve pounds. (A lady who was on the same floor as me and had surgery the same day only lost six pounds and she never strayed from the diet.) Yes, I think you should follow the doctors orders and try your very best, it is very hard to adjust to at the beginning, however if you do stray try rearranging your diet to fit your bodies needs. Here is the question though? Is it good to go or not go? I havent went in seven days. The changes our body is adjusting to is incredible.

Thank u all.... would like to fast forward three months... I counted and counted the days til my surgery and now it is over with new consequences... but you all made it and so will I.

Thank you for the kind support... when I went for surgery I weighed 287, today 291 sheesh... I am trying to stay positive....

I had my surgery Friday, just got home today. I was terribly sick and still doubting my decision. I hope it gets better because I hate this sick feeling in my stomach. Imagine trying to throw up when you have nothing to throw up. Then the nurses are yelling at you that you may be ruining your new pouch. For two days I had nothing to drink and had a nasty taste in my mouth... I couldnt go pee without a tube ... they kept trying to find veins to place the needle in to give the needed medicines... this experience was a nightmare. Everyone who had the surgery the same day as me left Saturday. I am counting the days until it gets better

My surgery is Friday and of course I am nervous, etc. My boyfriend has asked me several times not to have the surgery. 'NOT' Then he started asking me about my living will, life insurance, etc. Today my ex-husband calls and starts telling me he doesn't want to raise our son by himself, it would be to hard for him (that is why the boy lives with me), do I have life insurance and if so who is the beneficiary. Ok, do they know something I should be aware of "Am I going to die" Now I am freaking out and doubting my decision.

My period is due to arrive around my surgery date. I am scared and would be embarrassed if it started on during surgery. Good luck on your journey.....

Good Luck, I am sure you will experience many emotions throughout your journey. State positive and we all hope you have a speedy recovery. My surgery is Friday so I am also nervous. Keep us updated....

I have a wonderful sex life and I hope it only gets better with my weight loss. Some words of advice to pass on. I do take antidepressents and I may be faced with increasing my dosage after the surgery due to post op depression. However, I willn't let it effect my sex drive. I was on a few medicines that I couldn't achieve an orgasm . Please share all of this with you doctor. I expressed the importance of my sexual activity and my doctor found a medication that works well for depression and enhances my sex drive. It is important you take care of needs including your sexual ones. Good luck

I had to lose weight by my pre op date (Jan 4) which I did...but it was eating in a sensible manner. On this liquid diet I am getting approx 600 calories, ,my body is hating me. Good luck Tuesday.. let me know how you did I have my surgery a couple days later.
