  1. Anybody not lose weight on their pre op diet? I have cheated once several days ago but I have followed the guidelines prior to then and after and I have only lost two pounds, my surgery is Friday...
  2. I just have to get this off my chest. I work at a hospital. They have a beautiful cafe that I enjoy dining in. Anyway, I go in there for my morning break and purchase a protein drink and yogurt. Twice now I have bought Light Muscle Milk which has been expired. What an idiot I am, I should look at the date but I don't. Today the expiration date read 11/11. Now my stomach is upset. Being on a liquid diet already sucks because of headaches I am having, now this. You would think a hospital would be more careful of the food or drinks in their cafe for the health of their consumers. Thanks for listening!
  3. I went through the whole process, even pre op for the lap band. The doctor and his staff weren't supportive and I felt very uncomfortable allowing him to do the procedure. During that journey I also saw several co-workers who had the lap band procedure and didn't do well. They would lose the weight and then regained it back plus more. I am glad my doctor was such an a... because it made me research other doctors. After intensive research and speaking to my doctor I am satisfied with the decision of having the sleeve surgery Jan 20th. Good Luck on your choice.
  4. Good luck, it is day 5 for me on my pre op diet.... I have cheated but I it is the headaches that are really bothering me.
  5. Today is also my 5th day of the Pre-op diet. I am not doing well, but I haven't gained any weight or lost though. It really is tough with the headaches and withdraws. Good luck to you....
  6. Good Luck Vance, it is incredible that you are doing so well and lost that amount of wait in such a short amount of time. Keep us posted...
  7. Glad to hear you are doing well. Hopefully mine goes as smoothly next week. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
  8. I started my liquid diet Friday. First day cheated with a banana, second cheated, etc....my head hurts and I feel week. I wrestle with psych patients all day and feel I am not getting the nutrients I need to focus and function....I havent gained any weight but I havent lost any. I did lose the 10% they required but I should lose more.
  9. My surgery is Jan 20th... I haven't seen anybody I will be sharing that surgery date with. Anyway, I am freakin out... Can everyone state their positive experiences. I see negative comments (maybe I am just focusing on them) and I am kinda scared with my surgery fast approaching. Thank you
  10. My surgery is Jan 20... two weeks of liquids.... sheesh
  11. My first day of the liquid diet. I am so hungry and so tempted to eat, I haven't though. Then all these liquids are making me urinate frequently. I just want a.... everything sounds good at the moment. Anyone else have difficult? or cheat on their diet?
  12. Apply for CareCredit, they have an application you will be required to fill out. I am using that for my co-payment. On a positive note ten percent is not a large amount for the importance and necessity of your well-being. Good Luck
  13. Loose skin also worries me. I can see my stomach shrinking from my pre op diet and it already is sagging. I know clothes will hide a majority of the excess skin but undressing for a shower or our husbands leaves me feeling a little ashamed that I allowed myself to become this way. However, being able to walk and breath better is well worth the sagging skin. We are all sexy in our own ways and besides what matters is what is inside a person. Good luck!!!
  14. I went through the whole process, approx nine months to get the lap band. Even attempted the pre op diet and had my surgery scheduled and chickened out. So many people I have seen banded don't lost weight or regain it. I agree with your decision to get the sleeve. I see so many people succeeding with this procedure. Good Luck
  15. My surgery is sceduled Jan 20th. I have turned to this site in hopes to gain insightful information through my journey. However, I have noticed the last several post regarding feelings of regret. Wow, this doesn't help my nervousness. I am scared of complications, pain, depression, etc. We all respond differently to various procedures. Any positive feedback that might help my nerves? On a positive thought I know in the long run it will be benefical.
  16. I start my pre op diet on January 6. I have started drinking only protein drinks during the day and eating a meal at night, mainly vegs and tofu. I am having a headache I think from the withdraw of sugar. It is hard and I am sure to get harder. But for my health and success I do believe it is wise to lose weight and shrink your liver as much as possible. My diet for the two weeks prior to surgery is four protein drinks, low fat, low carb... low fat yogurt... one cup of vegs and ten spoonfuls of fiber mixed in water. So often we use food as comfort and it is a struggle not to grab a handful of fries when I am stressed.
  17. I am scheduled January 20... eight days before my birthday... I am nervous and scared... I have a eight hour pre op appt Jan 4... I need to weight under 300 pds that day. Jan 6 I start my two week liquid diet, sheesh. Good Luck to each of you on your successful journey.
  18. It would be helpful if you discuss why you regret the prodecure. Maybe there are people on the discussion forum that can help you through this period. I am twenty days away from getting my procedure and would be interested in hearing your regrets.
  19. I was told by my doctor that I may not drink soda every again.
  20. My doctor is requiring me to take two weeks off, two weeks light duty. But it takes about six months to fully recover.
  21. Thank you for your responses. I am scared but have to do this.
  22. I am interested in hearing each of your responses relating to pain. Was it more or less than expected? Did you get adequate pain medicine?
  23. I am a lacto-vegan. I don't drink milk (almond or soy), only vegetable rennet cheese and soy yogurt, whey Protein I am tolerating but prefer soy. The success of our surgery is framed around protein, which is understandable. However, my wish is that the doctor's office would education themselves properly concerning our lifestyle. My question is suggestions on possible protein recommendations during the pre-op phase and post-op phase. Even a diet you follow would be helpful.
