In less than 3 days I will be happy to add Portia to my family (that is going to be the name of my lap band/port system). Portia is Latin for gift and she will be a happy gift for yours truly. I have not felt scared or anxious, just excited. I am ready to get rid of all this excessive baggage that I have carried around like a badge of poor choices and regret. I just wish that I had been able to do this 15 years ago honestly. The pre-op liquid diet continues and with just two more days to go, I have lost 11 pounds. I am thrilled. More than that, I am thrilled that I wont be gaining it back. I understand that in the hospital you get loaded up on fluids from the IV and so forth, so I won't be upset if there is a gain because I know one good pee and it will be gone. LOL. I am not even anxious about the pain involved afterward either, because I know it is temporary and will pass with each day. I am happier than I have ever been about anything and I am ready to change my life and move forward. No more looking back and certainly no more wallowing in how bad I look and feel right now. Good things are ahead for me...and for you as well. Good luck to all of you having surgery this week and Congrats to those who have had it done.

    Take care,
    Jen

I just got banded yesterday (12/14/11) Found out I had TWO hernia's. I knew about
one but not the other. I'm so glad they fixed both of them! My doctor (Dr. Watkins) was
wonderful! He is so funny and I heard he sings country music during his surgeries. He told
me that he really loves his job and you can just tell. I'm so happy w/ him and the staff at
West Chesters "University Point hospital" - I'm feeling a lot of pain in my left shoulder and
just a little where the cuts where made. Not sure what my weight is since I don't have a working
scale but when I was weighed in last, I was down another 3 pounds so that from 17 pounds lost
    total! God is good!!

One week ago at this time I was in the hospital, groggy and uncomfortable but so relieved all went well. Today I am feeling good, healing well and for the first time I am truly feeling motivated and sure that I can do it this time. It is a little scary to write or say that outloud after so many failed attempts but I am writing it anyway -- I need to lose that fear of failing again and see this as the first time I have ALL the tools I need to succed -- I really believe the lapband was the missing tool in all my previous efforts to lose weight.

Since surgery last week, I've lost another 5 lbs since surgery bringing my total loss to 24lb since August! And my husband has lost 45lbs since August (he was banded 11/7)!!

I have been using MyFitnessPal daily to log my intake and I check this site at the beginning and end of every day to keep myself motivated by reading about others successes and about their struggles. I feel so supported when I read the entries and I offer my support and cheers for them. I think checking in here each day and blogging each week will help me keep my goal front and center so I will be better able to stay motivated. So here's is this week's entry to keep me focused and a thanks to all those who share thier story. Hope anyone who may read this has a great week and stays positive in their journey

I am about 4 months post op...and down about 60 pounds since I started my prop diet. Amazing, I had 3 people come up to me yesterday and ask what is going on with me...I look different. One person even told me that some of the people that work at my company didn't recognize me and wanted to know if someone new was hired. All 3 people commented on how good I look and wanted the specifics. When I told them, they gave me plenty of compliments and "keep up the good work" comments. I tell you, it made my day. WOO HOO!!!

One guy eve told me this morning when I came in that I was looking exceptionally beautiful today. (I'm old enough to be his mama, but it still made me feel good.)

I have been on the pre-surgery Optifast 800 liquid diet for 3 days and so far I have lost 5 pounds. Being the third day today I have been struggling, but getting on the scale and seeing that drop has renewed me and I CAN DO THIS. So, while everyone at work is eating popcorn, chocolates and so forth, I am happily munching on my sugar free strawberry jello and thinking happy thoughts of this 5 pound loss and my surgery date on December 22nd. 2012 is going to be a great year.

First day after surgery and I'm sore. I have sneezed today and boy does that hurt too. I have been up walking around the house but thats about it. Just up and down today. Fluids have been well today. Been keeping track of my intake and output. Breakfast: 2 ounces Nectar Protein Shake 2 ounces Gelatin Drink. Then every 20 minutes eating some ice chips. Lunch: 2 ounces of Broth 2 ounces Propel Zero. More ice chips between. Dinner: 2 ounces protein drink 2 ounces Broth. More ice chips. Able to keep it all down. No nausea today. I have been voiding well too so I must be getting enough fluids. Day 2 tomorrow will probably be about the same. Going to try and include some sugar free popsicles tomorrow to change it up a bit. I got on the chat in here earlier and it was very informative. Looks like Im doing what I should be. Hoping tomorrow will be a less sore day for me. Have a great night!

I have chosen to have the lap and surgery after 2 years of contemplating it. I don't know if I was scared or just not ready to change myself. At the highest weight I've ever been, 315lbs., type 2 diabetes since 2007, high blood pressure since 2008, and PCOS since 2007, I HAVE to make a change. I'm only 24 years old and I have my whole life ahead of me, I don't want to lose my life because I didn't get myself healthy.
My fiance is unsure of the way my surgery will affect our relationship, and I have pushed our wedding back another year so I can lose as much weight as I can before the wedding.

I am worried about my willpower in the long run of this decision. I just hope I can keep myself strong and stick to the right way to eat.
