Introducing Me... Getting Sleeved On Monday Nov 19
Dooter replied to sippsters's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HI! Congratulations! You'll be loving and living life again very soon!! (that sounded like an ad for VSG, huh!) -
When you say the phrase "horrible chest pain" that makes me say RUN, don't walk to the nearest hospital and get hooked up to whatever they've got! Do you feel it could at all be your heart, or is it lower where the hernia repair is? That should be lower than your ribcage to the left. The hernia was stitched up, so unless the surgeon's stitching is faulty, it could not be recurring. Many people do have difficulty swallowing and having pain in the area for a couple weeks or more. Don't be shy with the pain meds, that's what they're for. It could be normal stuff, but if you feel at ALL like your life is in danger GO to the hospital!

I feel that way about the word "nourish." Too many shampoo commercials abuse it. And Rachel Ray and her "nutrish." I want to slap somebody for that one. ....rabbit trail!! lol

It's funny, because right before I read this yesterday, I had changed my status and very specifically wrote "husband" because the same thoughts were running through my head... No offense to anyone who LIKES the term. Some say tomato- some throw tomatoes.

Can you take tylenol? Drink lots and lots. Get really well hydrated before you go into surgery. When the caffeine and toxins are leaving you, it causes great pains in some people. Some of it, unfortunately, you have to bear through... It should stop soon though. usually only a day or two.

Seminar And Looooong Wait Times
Dooter commented on TwinsMama's blog entry in Learning to be a Type A-
Weird. First I've heard of having to do that! Are the shots specific to a medical condition or does he make everyone do that??? And the wait time! Jeezum crow, you'll die of old age before you get the sleeve. Is there anyone out of state you could drive or fly to for the surgery? I went one state over and could have had an appt. within...2 or 3 weeks. I did not bother to wrangle the insurance co. though. I went straight for cash. That may make a difference. Post op diet- It seems there are as many opinions on this as there are doctors! Listen to the one you end up using. Listen to your body too. Just don't let it get you into trouble -
40 Lbs First Month Now What's Happening?
Dooter replied to Goodgonebad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is not a satisfying answer, but it just happens. Your body is adjusting, you are adjusting- the loss will continue as long as you keep doing everything right. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower. As long as the numbers are going DOWN.... that's good. Lifting weights a lot will stop the numbers from going down even if your body is changing shape. It's hard to say what factor is playing a part, but i think you're probably doing just fine. Are your carbs higher than...oh...30 to 50 grams per day? If so, that can slow it down a lot. -
It's tabloid lingo. It IS irritating. Along with "gal pal," "tot," "hunky beau" and "love nest."

Mine hurts too when I've been sitting too long, but when I was ten I cracked it, so I've always thought that's why it still hurt when i sit a long time, but maybe not! With all the padding it didn't hurt at all. I like it. It reminds me that my butt is shrinking away!!!

Selfish Discouraging Friends :(
Dooter replied to Mz.Smurf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you do this and start losing weight...your friends will wonder why they ever questioned you. It'll be so obvious. Just stay focused and be excited. It'll be good. -
Ok, lemme 'splain what your looking at here: The brown thing is my shirt. The denim color is my pants and the white thing is my TRAY TABLE ALL THE WAY DOWN with a couple inches to spare!! The blue tabbie looking thing is MY SEATBELT, not only fastened without an extender, but a few inches pulled out. Then just to be a smart@$$, I went and used the airplane bathroom JUST because I could!! HAHAAAAAAAAAA!!! I love it. Oh, what 98 lbs can do for a person!! Love it. Don't give up, people!!!

And you WILL get there!!

Not All Sleevers Eat 500 Cals A Day For The Rest Of Their Lives!
Dooter replied to FishingNurse's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Love it love it love it!!! Sounds GREAT!!!! -
At nine months out now...I STILL try to inhale my food when I get too hungry. Then the paaaiiin hits. I have to consciously tell myself when I sit down, "eat slowly, eat slowly, chew a lot, put the fork down." otherwise, the full sensation does not register until i've swallowed too much. I fear that this may have led to some capacity increase, but I could be totally wrong. It just seems that if there is pain in the sleeve, it's being taxed.... I don't want to stretch it. That would be my concern. That, and just plain overeating.

Why No Carbonated Drinks?
Dooter replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no. You've opened the can. LOOK the worms are everywhere!! LOL I agree. I was told to never drink carbonation again because of the risk of stretching the sleeve and they're just no #$%&&% good for you ANYway, sleeve or not! BUT....there are people that will defend their diet sodas to the death, and the discussion on this board has gotten QUITE heated on the matter. Ugly even. (just warning you... I don't think they are worth the risk. A small sacrifice in the grand scheme of things. Just leave 'em alone. It's like drinking battery acid, and that's no good for the lining of your tiny stomach. -
