  1. Those are some amazing numbers!! What's your daily routine like?
  2. I go in on Thursday, and I also have had a slight cold for the past week or so, talked to my surgical coordinator about it and she says as long as it has not effected your breathing, or is something bronchial then you should be fine. My surgeon won't do it if it's accompanied with a fever or bronchial issues.
  3. My day is the 28th. I haven't got any comfy clothes (hoping i'll shrink into then out pf my old ones) but I was told to be sure to have calcium, b12, biotin, protein, gas relief and multivitamins, oh and a camelbak water bottle. So I've done all the above now i'm just waiting. No diet or fasting for me from my surgeon. I'm just enjoying my moments and reading to prepare myself! I wish you all the success expected and unexpected on your new lifestyle!!
  4. You know I actually called her, because BCBS told me they'd sent out a letter to me and the office and of course neither of us had received it (that was a week after they had already approved me!) so I called and told them that the insurance company said they'd approved me and my coordinator confirmed that same day, called me back with a date the next day and my last appointments. I wanted so badly to get in this March and my office is so great they were actually able to make it happen!
  5. I'm having my sleeve done in Maryland, with Dr. Averbach. Also, my start weight is 337 and my height is 6'1
  6. Unbelievable results!! Congratulations and I wish you much, much more success :-)
  7. That's awesome, how's your progress?
  8. So BCBS of Il approved me after only 24 hours! Soooo, why don't I have a date you ask?..well it's because I only know because I called the company today, they said they sent out an approval letter to me and my surgeons office. I left a message with them so I'm hoping for a date tomorrow..aaah the waiting game.
  9. I love when the veterans post, especially the successful ones. Thanks for sharing, it's very interesting to see how much one can eat 3 years out!
  10. I'm sorry you had to hear that. People don't realize how sensitive a topic ones body is, and you really find out what people thought or think of your body and how you eat as you lose weight. Even those closest to us can be a bit insensitive when they think they're being helpful. I hope all turns out well during and after your surgery
  11. It sounds like doing the surgery outside of the U.S would be cheaper but I have to be honest with myself I'd simply feel better if I did it here. I have 3 young children a working husband and responsibilities that can only be done by me. I can't consider more than 2 days off so traveling is out. 15 thousand isn't as bad as my hubby and I thought. If that is the case I'd be very okay with that price.
  12. So I'm considering just paying myself but I wonder what it will cost and what others have done who've gone this route. I may use care credit.

Hahaa! Exactly "Oh yeah, let's go to the gym and maybe a little run; We'll show them how easy this is". Such an excellent point. When they say "it's a tool" it truly is just that. It's the same as a kettle bell, a treadmill or a measuring cup, it simply aids in the process YOU still have to make the right choices, use tremendous will power and do ALL the work! Great post! and good luck to you in reaching your goals :-)
  14. It also depends on if you've had children...i've been told
  15. Hey everyone, I just sent in the last bit of information asked for by my insurance which is United Health Care (Choice Plus) and I was wondering about how long it took for you to get approved (or denied)? Thanks
  16. I've never heard of anything like this, however, bodybuilding.com can give you really good programs based on your goals (for FREE) and it's kind of like the facebook for fitness gurus so you can really get some help and good information from people who really live and work in the fitness world. Hope this helps
  17. Congrats on all your success, it's always good to hear when people are doing so well and the band is doing what it's suppose to do!
  18. Congrats on all your success! You sound like you're on the right track. I agree with the nurse with regards to your weight loss progress, the human body is an amazing machine, smart too, it's figured you out and may have gone into its own maitenance phase, so I think your strategy of focusing on low-carb, high-protein sounds good. (NOT a doc, jus love to read about nutrition and exercise). Many blessings to you in 2012 and beyond :-D
  19. I love Sparkpeople.com but I can't compare between it and any other because I've never used any other online weight loss program except Weight Watchers Points Plus Program, which is basically the same thing. Spark was just waaay more fun though
  20. You're amazing! That's so great to hear! Congrats on all your success.
  21. Congrats on doing well today! It's always a one-day-at-a-time mind set that gets me through. I hope 2012 is indeed the year you reach all your goals and more! Best of blessings to you!
  22. Awesome NSV with the pants! Luck being wished for you!
