Pre-op Is Boring And Uninteresting
In all my research of banding I have rarely ever watched a pre-op video unless I'd already seen the results of what the person had accomplished before they were banded. I do wonder if they're hopes and fears are like that of my own, or how they got to where they were in weight and how had they struggled with it. Sigh... The stories are so unbelievably the same and so are the emotions. There's sadness, depression, pain, sickness, hmmm, it kind of sounds like I'm describing the side effects of a prescription drug HEY with all the med's we fat folks have to take due to obesity related issues I wouldn't be surprised if these emotions actually ARE side effects! Anywhoo, I'm writing this because I hope to be able to look back in a years time and remember pre-op me. Remember my state of mind and body and think 'Wow, look at how you've changed..' Aaagh to daydream...

Biggest Fears Pre Lap Band Surgery?? Did They Come To True?
Thanks Dawn! I can see that in myself as well. I keep asking myself whether I'm trying to take an easier (not easy) way out. But after all my research I've come to believe that this isn't easy in any way, shape or form!

Biggest Fears Pre Lap Band Surgery?? Did They Come To True?
What were your biggest fears before surgery ? Did any come true? Ranging from fear of insurance company backing out, to overeating with the band? I appreciate your input!

Who Are You Telling About Your Lap Band Surgery?
I agree Humming Bird, If asked I wont conceal the truth at all, however Heather0831, I think like your husband and believe that it's best to let people ask than to just go running around spreading the news because as Lluna has proven by her quote from her former friend, not everyone, including those whom we consider to be friends, will see this as a positive thing or "good" news. Personally, I have told only 2 people: My sister who's always been my biggest supporter in fitness (she's a lovely size 6 at 5'11 and gorgeous!), and my Boss coincidentally, because I like her alot, she struggles with her weight as well and now we are on the journey together! Overall 3 people know outside of myself and that is my hubby, my sis and boss and I plan to keep it that way until people begin to inquire.

My First Nsv!!!
That's awesome news! Non-Scale Victories are what I am looking forward to most with my band. I can't wait to be able to fit into a size 16 or even a 12, or to run again or to be able to play basketball again or to just be ABLE! LOL Congrats on your success and keep it up!

New To Lapbandtalk.. 1st Consultation Coming Up..
I hope all goes well, stay positive and good luck on the consult. I have my first appt this week as well. I'm 305 and have thankfully dodged any obesity issues thus far (26 years old) but i have been constantly warned of the threat of diabetes. Anywho, I'm looking forward to my visit just as you are and am expecting good news because my insurance said they'd cover 100% of the costs! (United Healthcare) so here we go!

Is There Really A Maximum Weight For The Lapband?
I went to a seminar last night and my surgeon said he's done a person over 700lbs! So I don't know about there being a weight limit but I know of higher risk factors and the higher the weight the higher the risk (not including other possible medical issues).
