  1. That's a really great feeling! I've found a lot more energy to start remodeling our cabin. It's going to be a challenge.......... Love these NSV's.
  2. Amanda is right on. We all can only eat 5 -6 bites at this stage. If the puree is bothering you a lot, go back to liquids for a few days. Your stomach might not be ready yet and needs a little quiet time. It's so hard to be patient with the process, but worth it! CONGRATs!
  3. This is so awesome! CONGRATS! Hope I will join you soon....
  4. It's been very helpful to read your vlog. Thank you for sharing.
  5. This is such a great story. It is really awesome when we can trust our doctors and are treated with respect. CONGRATS!
  6. Amherst: I was sleeved on Oct 4, 2011 and I am basically at a stand still in my weight loss. Today is a day where I had reverted back to old eating habits. But the day is not done and I will chose to have chicken noodle soup. I can eat a lot of the sliders food in large quanities now. But I have decided that today is my funeral day for those horrible foods. Yes, I can eat a little more now, but still not a lot. I struggle with fears of gaining the weight back. LOL. So, tomorrow I will eat healthier foods and kick start my weight loss. Last week I was getting in mostly 900 calories and sometimes 1000. I have read a lot about increasing calories to help with weight loss, so this week should of done it. LOL. Hang in there and make a decision to eat healthier, and perhaps splurge every now and then. Let me know how your doing. How many calories do you eat and what kind of foods? What size portions are you eating?
  7. I had a horrible dream last night, I dreamt that I had globs of hair falling out in my hand on my left side. Went to the hairdresser and some lady told me that someone in my other half of my family was going to die. WTH? I have never heard that before. Has anyone else?
  8. Not at 2 weeks out. They would be very dry for your stomach. I was on liquids for the first 3 weeks, pureed for 3 weeks, mushies for 3 weeks and then semi solids. Even at 5.5 months post op, I can basically tolerate moist meats. Don't push it, it will happen soon enough. Just play it safe. Your doing great so far. Keep it up!
  9. Today I went to the hair salon and a lady heard me talking to my hair dresser about my weight loss, and the lady sitting there asked me how I had lost all the weight. I hesitated for a moment and then just told her about my wls. She was really interested and asked a lot of questions. I didn't worry about what she thought. but I did ask my hairdresser about the owner of the salon and whether he had his GBS. She told me no, that they had post poned the surgery and he took it as a sign he wasn't suppose to have the surgery. I was so tempted to go up to him and tell him about my surgery but didn't have the nerve. I also thought it would be very rude of me to intrude on him like that because he doesn't really know me. I really do want to talk to him though. What should I do?
  10. The further you get after surgery, the more water you will be able to drink. In the beginning, your stomach will be very swollen and will only be able to get a few sips of water or juice into the space. On youtube.com Dr alvarez has a video that educates on the vertical sleeve procedure. I highly recommend that you watch the video. This is the best decision I have ever made was to have the sleeve. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
  11. I won't buy cloths at Target any more. I like Victoria Secret, Forever 21,Macys, Jc Penny's, Nordstrum's Rack. They're much prettier also. Hehehehehehe!
  12. I have been reading some posts today and all of a sudden I got really sad. I got this fear that the weight off and it's going to come back. How fearful is this. I know that it's up to me to eat healthy and I do need to make great choices. It's just a really weird emotion for me to have right now. Bah humbug!
  13. I eat out all the time. I enjoy visiting with people that I love and I have more time for conversation. I love sharing meals with others, even before my surgery, we all ate too much anyways. A meal to me is just protein, veggies, and some starch. It just in smaller portions. My hubby is also learning to eat smaller portions too. People are eating way too much food! It's killing everyone. Now we can set a good example for others. Enjoy small portions and enjoy the small bites you can take. I do.
  14. Coops ~ Thank you so much! I did realize that I was in a normal BMI. That means that even if I don't loose my extra lbs, I wouldn't qualify to get a GBS, LOL, I wouldn't want that surgery anyways. I love my sleeve. You will make it up that mountain trail next time! I pretty much can guarantee that! Walking is a great way to clear our minds and plus this is when we gain a lot of insight into us. It's called an epiphany. Love these. My intuition tells me that you are already successful with weight loss and now you are starting to embrace life and it's many joys! You are pretty awesome, strong, and have a lot of courage. Thank you for being here for me.
  15. Is there any way you can stay away from your scale. Your body will loose weight, it is just creating more anxiety by watching the scale. I didn't even weigh myself until 3 weeks post op and that was at my surgeon's office. I couldn't remember what they told me but said I was doing fine. Then I started weighing myself at home and that created so much anxiety because my scale seemed like it had stopped moving. Now I try to only weigh myself 1 time per week, and if I weigh more I have to tell myself that I have a bounce weight going on. I even went out and bought a new scale. I ended up taking it back because my scale wasn't broken. Hand in here. THere's no way your not going to loose your weight with the little bit of food your eating. Keep it simple, you will loose weight. If your really worried, check out LilMissDiva's The Basic Boot Camp under food and nutrition. You can do this and you are doing it! Congrats!
  16. So your afraid your gona die? You have had the band and you didn't die. So the probability of dyeing from the sleeve is extremely minimal. You would more likely die from a band due to the severe complications it poses. If we stop and think about it, there is no guarantee that we won't get hit by a car and die tomorrow without the surgery. So I voted for living my life to the fullest by becoming as healthy as I can today and also enjoying the benefits of being slim. Our fear stop us from doing so much in our lives that would make us happy. Please don't let your fear rule your life. The sleeve is a life saving tool that helps us become healthier, more confident, and looking really good. Remember, there's no guarantees in our lives so we have to make the best of it. You will do great and if you have been reading the posts on here, pretty much everyone has said that this procedure has saved their lives. These are true testimonies about the benefits of the sleeve. It is not easy, but worth the journey. It's a learning experience for us all. My sleeve has saved my life.
  17. I have 4 more pounds to loose to make my Easter challenge. I am very frustrated at this point due to a very minimal weight loss. I am going to have to up my calorie intake to see if that helps and drink a lot more water. The old me would have diverted to taking a diuretic. LOL Now I worry about dehydration. Anyways, the game is on! Let's do it!
  18. Hey Coops ~ it seems like i'm in the same boat with you. I have a little bounce weight but haven't lost anything significantly for a few months. I also am wondering if I'm at my resting point. I also need to increase my exercise, but seem to avoid it. That I will begin today. Going to the mountains and having some fun this weekend. I do have an appointment next with with my surgeon for my 6 month check in. I will have a lot of questions to ask her about kick starting it. I am going to try and eat more calories (healthy calories) this weekend too. Don't give up, this is just a life style change.
  19. It was that little twist you had when being called by the laundry. It caught you off guard and was probably a little scarey too! You a doing really great! Keep it up.
  20. You look absolutely amazing! Congrats on your weight loss!
  21. At 6 weeks out i was eating mushies. I didn't start eating meats until around 3 months post op and it had to be very moist chicken. I'm 5.5 months post op and yesterday I went to Chipole and the chicken felt too dry and was rather uncomfortable. I try to eat moist things. Hope this helps.
  22. CONGRATS! You are doing really great! Keep it up!
  23. I drink a protein drink about 1 hour before I go to bed. I've done very well on the protein.
  24. CONGRATS! This is the worst part of the procedure. It does get better every day. Try walking as much as you can endure. And take sips at least every view minutes. And protein does count as a liquid. You are doing great!
  25. Yep! There is a restriction when needed. Keep Rockin that Sleeve!
