  1. TLP_VSG: Here is my experience with my referral for wls. Kaiser required that we lose 10% of our weight. I had a low BMI to begin with. Well I didn't lose the recommended amount of weight and I was referred to my bariatric doctor. I got there and because my BMI was under, the surgeon's office told me that I wasn't qualified for the surgery. I was like WTH? The only reason I got the surgery is because i have diabetes. If I would not have been persistent, I wouldn't be here right now sleeved. So I highly recommend checking with your surgeon to verify that.
  2. I am so thankful that I have this support here. Thank you everyone for being here!
  3. Isn't this amazing! Looking good!
  4. You are going to be so skinny after the baby is born! That is totally amazing.
  5. I started losing my hair month 3 post op and stopped losing it 7 months post op. I take biotin 10,000mcg and silica and boy is my hair really growing fast.
  6. This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I will be 1 year in October and am curious as to how the years after will be. It's all about mindful eating habits.
  7. WOW! This is totally amazing! Congrats! May I ask how much you have gained since being pregnant?
  8. Walking is great for stress reduction
  9. All surgeons have different beliefs and procedures that they follow. Who's to say which one is correct or not. Food is an addiction and some people go into the surgery as a cure for all, but it's not. It is only us that can make the decision in how much and what you put into your mouth. This is really hard to deal with if your not aware of how head hunger affects you. Some and most, require a psychiatric evaluation to assess for complications from a person's mental being. Yes this is confusing but if you trust your doc, then follow his plan and you will be fine. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
  10. I healed quickly with no complications with the surgery. My blood sugar is great and I'm on no meds for anything so far.
  11. Ok, I didn't know that there was a PCP for bariatric's. I would try calling and asking for a sooner appt. Maybe someone had to cancel. Wishing you a lot of luck in this process. It sounds like you will benefit from this procedure too.
  12. Can you schedule an appt with your PCP earlier? He might be able to order everything STAT basis. You can make up an excuse to see him sooner like for HA or better yet, the vibration in your leg is really really bothersome for you. That might help get a quicker appt to get the referral process moving quicker. At least with Kasier that works.
  13. Congrats! and welcome!
  14. You probably will not get a date until all those things have been done, so this is a good time to start engaging in changing some of your habits like eating healthy foods and increasing exercise to get you ready for the surgery. Also see if you can make an appt with a NUT to go over ways to change your current diet. That will help with the transition. Relax and know that it will happen!
  15. Pretty much eat 900 to 1300 calories a day. I guess I shouldn't have lost my weight if I was in starvation mode. Hummmmmm....... it's a fallacy.
  16. This isn't normal. I'm glad you called your doctor. It's probably something minor but would be great to check it out.
  17. Get lots of rest, sip, sip, sip, and focus on fluids. Don't worry about protein drinks for a few days, take your pain meds as needed, and it gets better each day. CONGRATS and welcome to the Big LOSER'S Bench!
  18. OMG! This is an amazing transformation! You do look a lot younger and whey skinny! I love your skinniness!
  19. I pretty much told everyone that was important too me. My BFF was not supportive and would totally tell me I'm not that big, all I need to do is eat smaller portions etc. It was frustrating. She got over it and now hates shopping with me. Now she's the big one. Now, I don't really feel like I need to tell anyone about wls because it was 10 months ago. I just tell them that I'm eating healthier, smaller portions and feeling great. I tell them that I love my wl. Mind you, these are people that aren't significant in my life, the people that are significant, I have already shared with them.
  20. I have lost 77 lbs and it was within about 5 months then the weight lost slowed down a lot. This is a life time of good healthy eating with way less portion sizes. Congrats on your success and remember, this is not a race. And the slower you lose the better, it gives your skin time to reabsorb so your have less baggy skin.
  21. A stall is a normal part of the weight loss we have. This is when our bodies are adjusting in inches. When I had a stall, I would get all freaked out and think I was done losing. But I wasn't. I'd be careful eating sweets because sugar is totally addicting. This is where our bad habits sneak back in. So please be careful.....
  22. I had to revisit my food plan to remind myself of what I could eat at what stage. It was such a pain. Can you eat some watered down Oatmeal? I still love my protein shakes in the AM. I'm 10 months out.
  23. Congrats! Sending healing energy your way! Welcome to the Big Loser's Club!
