  1. Good luck, I'm from the UK (Colchester in Essex), but now in America & having my procedure in Mexico. So probably no help whatsoever! But just thought I would say HI & good luck to you!
  2. Thanks, I am finding the 'eating healthy' thing a little tricky. Just eating too much volume wise I think. Plus it doesn't help I have my girls' birthday today so going out for dinner (will try to eat healthy!) & then their birthday on saturday (pizza & cake, ack!), then a scrapbooking crop on sunday (that means lots of candy, bleuch!). I am trying, but it is sooo hard! Monday I start my liquid diet. Hope I lose some weight then!
  3. Good luck & prayers are with you!
  4. That is great, I think you will be happy with Dr Kelly. I am scheduled for May 10th, one week away!!! So cannot comment on how the surgery is, but only on communication I have had so far which is great! Good luck to you & I will hopefully post a full review of my experience when I get back home (or in the hotel if I get wi-fi & feel up to it).
  5. I chose Dr Kelly, mainly based on patient recommendations. Then also the location of the hospital, the fact it was a hospital & not a clinic. His scheduler Omar has been wonderful at answering all my questions, and I have had many! The e-mail to contact them is wls-clinic@hotmail.com & they are fast at getting back to you. My cost is $5500 & that includes all the surgeons fees, anaesthesia fees, hospital fees, 2 nights stay in the hospital, then 2 nights stay in the hotel (right next to the hospital). Just had to pay for airfare. But yes, I could sing Dr Kelly's praises all I want, but if you don't feel comfortable with him, you should go with your gut & go with who you trust! They are all great surgeons & you will be in safe hands no matter who you choose.
  6. Good luck to you!!!! I am also a week from today with Dr Kelly. I am getting a wee bit nervous, but also excited too. I am looking forward to being able to walk upstairs without getting out of breath! Plus walking up the small hill from my house, to collect the girls off the bus, again without getting out of breath! I would like to get fit though, so I can run one day. My dream is to run a marathon one day, or jog it. But that is a long way off! Little steps!
  7. My surgery is in a week, and I am nervous now. So can't imagine how your nerves are! I like the idea of keeping busy! Good luck, prayers are with you & update us when you can!
  8. Lots of luck Holly, will be thinking of you & praying for you! Please update when you are ready & have the chance!
  9. Congratulations & thanks for the update. Thinking of you & hope you heal nicely!
  10. I am doing horrible on my preop diet. Well not really horrible, until today really. I cheated & had a bit of mac & cheese (kids left it on their plates... rolling my eyes at that) & had about 6 dumplings! Yikes. I HAVE to get more serious. Think I will try to do just liquids & see how I do (broth, 3 Protein shakes, sf Jello & sf pops). I did lose 4lbs, but still higher than the weight I put down on my forms! Need to lose at least 10 more lbs pre-op. I can do this!
  11. Hoping surgery went well for you both, please update when you get the chance!
  12. Woohoo! What can you drink for your liquid diet? Can you do Protein shakes? I am lucky that I just have to eat healthy for 2 weeks so doing 2 or 3 Protein Shakes a day, plus a healthy meal. Then 3 days pre-op I do liquid diet. Oh & I was told to stop my multi-vitamins 2 weeks pre-op. You were allowed to continue to take them??
  13. Great to hear everything went so well! Thanks for checking in with us!
  14. Lots of luck to those going in today for surgery. Will be thinking of you & praying for you! Hard to believe it will be my turn very soon! Please update us all, when you get the chance!
  15. Good luck to those going in today! Can't believe it is my turn in 10 days! Yikes, it is coming fast! Nervous now, but excited too!
  16. I was in exactly the same situation as you, my BMI was just under 40 & insurance wouldn't cover it. It would have cost me $24,850 out of pocket if I self-paid in NJ! So instead I am heading to Mexico, with Dr Kelly, on May 10th. It is costing me $5500 for everything. Well only thing extra is plane fair & money for incidentals (anything I want to buy, tip for driver). I'm also going to get my teeth whitened & that will cost $200. Dr Kelly's coordinators Omar & Ana have been great at keeping in touch with me. I have had a billion questions & they have gotten back to me very quickly. If you need to contact them to ask any questions (even before you decide on them) you can call 619-395-5347 or e-mail them at wls-clinic@hotmail.com. Good luck with your choice! Oh & I will be posting a review after I am sleeved too!
  17. Well I will be travelling 4 days after surgery! I am having my surgery in Mexico on May 10th. Will spend 2 days in the hospital & 2 days in a hotel. Then fly from San Diego CA to Philly PA. Going to make sure I walk about on the plane & see if I can upgrade to business class on the way back.
  18. I am scheduled with Dr Kelly in MX on May 10th. I was told I just need to 'eat healthy' for 2 weeks prior, then do the modified liquid diet 3 days pre-op. I am wondering what others are eating or drinking for the 2 weeks prior though? I am having a Protein shake for Breakfast, Protein Shake or salad or something else healthy for lunch, then healthy dinner or protein shake for dinner. But I am so hungry in between! Today I had protein shake, greek yoghurt, babybel cheese, big plate of caesar salad & I am hungry still! I am so looking forward to being sleeved as I won't be as hungry then & won't eat/drink as much. This is rough!
  19. Good luck to all of you getting sleeved today! Prayers are with you! Please update us when you can!
  20. Yep, May is tomorrow & I know we have a bunch that are May 1st sleevers! Good luck to you all if you are getting sleeved this week! Please check back & let us know how you are doing, when you are well enough to post!
  21. MGM, you are too funny! I have surgery on May 10th & still not organized! I do have a mini list of what I need to bring, but haven't packed anything yet! In fact I need to check if I have a carry-on bag big enough to pack all my stuff in!
  22. I wish I were. Would love to have someone on the same day as me with Dr Kelly! But I am on May 10th. Omar, the coordinator, said so far I am the only one for that date. Guess it means he can just take his time?!
  23. I am hoping I can have caffeine post-op as I get migraines sometimes & excedrin migraine works wonders for them! But it does contain caffeine!
  24. Nursemichele, did you have a drain tube too? That is one of the things I am nervous about, well maybe having it removed I guess is the bit making me nervous. Did someone say they were getting their teeth whitened too? How did that go? Or was that someone else that hasn't been sleeved yet? I am getting sleeved on May 10th with Dr Kelly & getting excited & nervous! Also plan to get my teeth whitened while I am there.
  25. Tried some Chike Protein shakes the past couple of days & really like them. I had banana Magic (oh yummy, even my girls tried a sip & loved it), chocolate Bliss (pretty good too) and strawberry Burst (again, I loved it & so did my girls!). If you go to this link, you can order 5 samples for only $6.95 shipping! They are great! http://www.chikenutrition.com/free-sample.html
