  1. I thought I had read on here about people avoiding or being told not to have coconut. Is that true that we shouldn't have coconut & if so why? Assuming coconut Water isn't the same as my Dr gave me some to drink when I was 3 days post op.
  2. I bought Vitamin B12 2500mcg, not sure how many of those I should take? Also bought Calcium Citrate chews that are 250mg & wondered how many of those I should take. I think it is 2 of each, but cannot remember. So will wait to take them until I get an answer!
  3. I was sleeved on May 10th 2012 by Dr Ramos Kelly. At the time the coordinator was Omar, who was fantastic. I wanted to get back in touch with Dr Kelly or his coordinator if anyone has an email address to contact him please! I don't get on here very often, so would be great if you emailed me at NJsharon@hotmail.com. Thank you!

    Dr. Ramos Kelly

Do you happen to have his Email? Can you email me with that info (NJsharon@hotmail.com) if you see this. I am trying to contact Dr Kelly!
  5. Hi there, jumping in on this discussion as I am looking into plastic surgery options too. I have heard good things about Dr Laura Carmina Cardenas... anyone heard anything good or bad about her? http://www.beauty-enhance.com/en/ I did also send an email to Dr Sauceda for a quote/info too.
  6. So are we allowed to eat gum? What happens if we were to accidentally swallow it? What about popcorn at the movies? Is that something we can ever eat again? If not then why not? I am only 17 days out right now & not even on mushies yet, so have a while. But was just curious!

    Pricing

I can really recommend Dr Kelly, it was $5500, no deposit needed and very close to San Diego border. I didn't even have any pain after surgery, didn't take one pain killer! Amazing & actually fun experience!
  8. It depends on your Doctor. I went with Dr Kelly & was not required to send a deposit, just took a cashiers check for the full amount when I went down there!

    Any New Jersey Gastric Sleevers?

Now I am on an unrestricted diet & cleared to eat anything (within reason of course!). It is easier to cook for the family, as I will eat with them, just eat smaller portions. Last night I cooked pork chops in shake & bake, with instant mashed potatoes & some carrots. I ate half my pork chop, about 2 forkfuls of mashed potato & 2 forkfuls of carrots. Tonight I made spaghetti with marinara sauce. I ate a small amount of it... probably just about a cup of it. Then had some deli meat & a small individual bag of almonds. So most of the time I will eat what the family is eating. But if it is carb heavy I will supplement with some extra Protein. But I actually enjoy cooking more since I was sleeved, don't know why, but I do!
  10. Woohoo! I am excited for you!!! I know I was super excited setting it all up, so can totally understand!
  11. Just wondered how all of those that have been sleeved are doing? I am doing fantastic. Keep wondering if Dr Kelly really did do a surgery as I feel so good. But when I go to stand up I feel a tiny bit of tenderness & then remember I did have an operation! Glad I can have some fluids now. Going to go out for chicken broth soon. Yum! My incisions look very healthy, but one is kind of looking a bit open, but not leaking or anything. So guess it is fine, but will check with the Dr. Have pain meds, which I haven't taken yet & will also check if I have to take them or only if needed. Then an antibiotic & something else for the stomach healing. So good to be on the other side now!!! Hope you are all doing just as well.
  12. Yeah, I have to add flavors to my water most of the time. I like the Mio flavorings, they even have one that is sweet tea flavor! You will find them next to the powdered drink mixes.
  13. I also was a caffeine junky! I woke up to 2 or 3 cups of coffee, then drank diet coke ALL day! I just quit cold turkey & it wasn't too bad. Now I don't miss it too much... gotten used to drinking my flavored water!
  14. Yes, I did do the swallow/leak test on the 2nd day after surgery & got films of all of that to bring home to my Dr. Also all the blood test results to bring home to my Dr too! So glad you made the decision to go with Dr Kelly. You will love him & his team!
  15. I also had an amazing experience with Dr Kelly & his team. Dr Kelly is a saint & a great surgeon. Omar is such a caring individual, he looked after me, as I was also there alone. If you want to check out my blog, I talk about my experience on there too: http://njsharonjourney.blogspot.com/
  16. Similar to Amy... I can eat one boiled egg or one egg scrambled for Breakfast. I can eat 1-2 cheese sticks as a snack. If I have a burger (without the roll/bun), then I can eat about 3/4 of it normally. Drinking, yes no fluids 30 mins before or after. Sometimes I can have a small sip right after eating, but that is it until later. I drink about 50oz a day. If I am not eating I am drinking! Good luck to you!
  17. I am so sorry but can't find the address now. If you e-mail Omar & ask him for the address & tell him you just wanted to mail a little something to them I am sure he will give you the address. That is what I said to him & he gave me an address in California, no problem.
  18. I didn't tip anything to Omar or to Cecy for driving me around. I wish I had, but totally forgot. So I mailed them a little gift when I got home. I was planning to give them like $40 each?
  19. Good luck to you! You are in great hands with Dr Kelly!
  20. Omar is a doll isn't he? He was so sweet to me, looking after me very well. I love Dr Kelly & his team! Glad you are doing well Sunny & recovering well.
  21. Good luck to you all, you will do brilliant & you are in great hands with Dr Kelly! I too miss him, Omar & Cecy & hope to go back to visit maybe next year!
  22. You will do great & have a wonderful time. Dr Kelly & his team really take care of you!
  23. I had surgery with Dr Kelly in Tijuana MX on May 10th this year. It cost $5500 plus airfare. That included 2 nights in the hospital, then 2 nights in the hotel Lucerna. Had a great time & no complications! If you want to view my journey I have a blog: http://njsharonjourney.blogspot.com/
  24. I had Dr Kelly & Dr Garcia at the top of my list & ultimately chose Dr Kelly & was sleeved by him on May 10th this year. I felt Dr Kelly just had a bit more experience & felt very comfortable when talking to him on the phone too. You can also follow my journey on my blog: http://njsharonjourney.blogspot.com/
  25. I did receive pain killers to take home, but didn't use any of them, didn't need them!
