  1. Thanks everyone, some really good advice!
  2. Hitting my first challenge! I am set to have my surgery this thursday on May 10th & my best buddy wants to meet for dinner at the beginning of June. She is leaving NJ for TX, so really do want to see her. Thinking to go to Applebees, but what could I eat there? I don't see Soup on the menu, so wondering what I could order at 4 weeks out? Any suggestions? Or there is a McDonalds there, if that would be easier... but thought that would be the worst choice?
  3. Well done to you. Now you can breath a sigh of relief! I am off to MX thursday too, with Dr Kelly. It is really hitting me now, that this is real!
  4. Good luck! I will be joining you on the losers bench soon too!
  5. Oooh, how exciting! Will be praying for you!
  6. Thanks for posting. I go in with Dr Kelly this thursday May 10th & getting quite nervous now. But you inspirational story makes me feel so much better! I want to be in your shoes in 1 year! Well done & keep up the great work!
  7. Good luck, thinking of you & praying for you!!
  8. Really?!! Oh gosh. Hadn't thought of that. I am only taking one bag, so not sure where I could hide my money!
  9. I leave on the morning of May 10th from Philly to fly to San Diego. Where I will be picked up by Dr Kelly's wife. I am a wee bit nervous (mainly as I am going alone), but about 80% excited! Confirmed all my details with Omar & he just told me I may want to bring some packets of chicken broth too, so will get some of those. It has all gone by so quickly. Hard to believe in 4 days I will be getting sleeved & starting a new life for myself! I will update when I can as I plan to take my laptop & will see if I can hook up to wi-fi at the hotel afterwards. Have my list to pack... yoga capris, heating pad, gas-x strips, new nightgown, chapstick, laptop, robe, packets of broth, passport of course. Anything I am missing that is important?!
  10. I am just going to ask at the desk, on the way home, if they have extra seats & if so could I upgrade. I will explain I just had bariatric surgery & the extra room will help. See if they charge me. If they do, hoping it is $500 or less. If it is more I will probably skip it & just stick with my aisle seat in economy class.
  11. Deb, how big are your medications? If they are M&M size or smaller I would try to just take them straight with water. This was one of my biggest worries post-op, how to take my medications, as I normally gulp them down with water & realized I wouldn't be able to gulp afterwards! But I just practised taking one sip with one tablet & it went down! Amazed me that it did, but it did! So did that for all 3 of my meds I take. But mine are all smaller than an m&m. If they are bigger, then you have to crush them, or I wonder if you could split them in half with a pill cutter & take half at a time with water?
  12. Yay Holly, so glad you are sleeved & doing so well! Hope my surgery goes just as smoothly as yours.
  13. I will be praying for you that May 11th happens! Oh & sorry about the menstrual cycle. I read other people on here said it happened & they were fine. But it did worry me a little too. As for me, I am doing horrible on my pre-op diet. Kids had pizza & cake today at their birthday party & I caved & had a whole slice of pizza. Ugh. Wasn't even worth it. Monday I start my liquid only diet, so then I REALLY have to buckle down & get more serious!!!
  14. I have a flight from San Diego to Philly after, so quite a long flight. I plan to just order water & drink that constantly, then try to get up & walk every 30-60 minutes, just up the plane & back. I also plan to ask for a wheelchair & see if I can get bumped to business class (just for the extra room).
  15. Good luck to you & prayers are with you!!!
  16. I heard Dr Kelly used to do a drain, but no longer does a drain. I am kind of happy I am not getting a drain! I think it is just personal preference. Some Drs like it to see if there is a leak. I know Dr Kelly does at least one leak test after surgery & heard he may do 2 during surgery too. So maybe he feels that is enough I guess?
  17. God bless you, working in a bakery & having to do pre-op diet! lol I would be a mess in there trying to 'diet'! Good luck to you & thinking of you!!
  18. I am hanging in there, 6 more days to go. My pre-op diet was very general & was just told to eat healthy. Found it really hard actually as I didn't have rigid guidelines, so eating sensible things, but overeating! So not lost a lot of weight. Getting more serious today. So far just had a Protein shake for Breakfast, one for lunch & a babybel cheese as snack. Let's see if I can make it until dinner time without snacking on anything else! I am trying to stay busy by doing some crafting, laundry etc. But it is hard!
  19. Should say that so far I have told my Mum, my hubby (of course) & 3 close friends. Oh & my PCP & psychiatrist. Everyone except my mum has been supportive so far, so has been nice!
  20. I really want to post it on facebook, to all my friends on there! But thinking I will wait until I am post-op & have lost some weight. I want to share with everyone, that I have surgery in 6 days & how I am nervous & excited to get a chance to start a new life basically. But worried people will judge me or like Swimmer said, be watching me carefully to see how much I lose every week.
  21. I cheated the other day (on my pre-op diet) & had about half a cup of mac & cheese. Paid for it the next day as I had gained weight!
  22. I had a last weekend, so had chinese noodles (beef chow fun) on the saturday for dinner. Then a sushi buffet on the sunday! Man, it was good & now I am on my pre-op diet I don't regret it one bit!
  23. I ordered samples (I am also still pre-op) from online & found I liked Chike Protein powders best. They are soooo good! So after trying the samples I ordered a tub of strawberry & a tub of banana. Just google Chike or Chike nutrition & you should find it.
  24. Glad you made it through & doing okay. Take care & wishing you an easy recovery!
