success is not just a number
Have a fabulous time Liz ! It can be a bit daunting to plan and travel alone to a foreign country .... ✈️ I'm hoping you will feel accomplished and enjoy looking at such a different culture, w/ your sis. Just the signs, billboards, shops... All so fascinating. So proud of you changing your life and now expanding your horizons. Hope you are also as confident! You got this covered... You have shown us how strong you have become in many ways. Best of luck and Please post pics????

The dumbest diet you tried?
I laugh reading these... But how sad we truly tried... White rice and banana diet. Nothing else... One bowl diet. If it fit in the small bowl 3x a day.... Of course I was just a teenager w/5-10 lbs to lose.... I thought... I actually am at that same weight at 60 and of course it is healthy and a good size... If I knew then what I know now, I guess I wouldn't be me???? Wish I hadn't thought I "wasn't good enough". I was. Sigh

Diarrhea and being unable to drink the protein shakes
My opinion is you might want to stop protein shakes for a test. Pedialyte mixed with lots of water helped me when I had an issue. My doc says protein tells your stomach to release acid to digest..., but if there is nothing there but liquid... No meat or any digestibles. It can go right through you. Good luck

Fat Related Routines You Won't Miss
Who knew that now some of us put our clothes IN the dryer before wearing so they fit better? I would not have guessed that...lovely healthy life we a get a chance to have now ????

Food waste
Right? I often wish I still had my dog as there are always scraps of something. I shop, cook and eat so much less... It is a relief . Not being driven by hunger and food are wonderful attributes of WLS ⭐️

Tummy Tuck Questions
I thought the first 10 days after my TT were difficult. I thank the person who invented the pain reliever!! I'm very pleased with the results though. Took me over 8 years post op to do it. Researched a lot, put money away.... Got a support team to help..Finally! Best wishes to those wishing to sculpt their body after WLS ????

How did you choose your doctor?
Many bandsters chose the least invasive, out patient surgery for very good reasons. Sure, new flavors come along, but often, there is no reason to change what works well for us. I respect all opinions, but it seems unnecessary to go on band forums to express your personal dislike if the OP wasn't soliciting about a personal choice. I am SO happy to live a healthy life. Adore my doctor... Gotta go with what works... Personal decision and I wish for success w/ WLS... Thinking we all want that.

I don't mean to sound gross but....
someone on the boards stated she felt like she passed a pineapple..... I laughed and knew what she meant after that first bout w/ constipation. Smooth move tea or miralax was my go- to early onWishing you many flushes.????

Surgery at 56?
Boy... Something about the 50's brings out a " I'm going to get this under control forever" attitude In a lot of posters. Me too! I had it with the ups and downs of weight programs. See- saws. It would appear most of us ahem- mature WLS gals are a bit more serious about total lifestyle changes IMHO. I'm working on 9 years this year and it isn't always smooth but it is forever! and I have the time and will to work on this.... The sixties look way healthier than my late forties and you can color me content!!!! Life is fun. Not a chore to slog through ... Attitude!!!!

Kick starting my metabolism
I am with you fellow bander... Nothing before noon... Dinner is enjoyable. Lunch is just something band friendly just to have something Maybe a different exercise / work out can kick start a loss? A different Zumba class or bike riding? After so many years, I also stay about the same weight Rarely do I eat differently or not work out. So I guess it's an elusive answer Let me know if something new comes on the board to change our status quo⭐️ Ps. I do increase my water a lot and this seems to help flush off salt weight????

Usually, I'm pretty even keeled, even on the Internet, but some questions...
Great point VSG... Lots of us vets have to be patient when newbies ask about when nachos and pizza enter in... I am thankful I was older when I had WLS and accepted the change in lifestyle my new life would entail. And yes aren't we lucky to live in a place that let's everyone have vocal opinions about anything???????????????? Happy fourth⭐️

Food Network/Cooking Channel
Just for myself, I put away some habits after WLS.... Perusing cookbooks, watching food porn ( thanks djmohr) shopping often , cooking elaborate meals OFTEN! I just had to change up my personal habits to make my life different. At 60 years old i feel like my next and last chapter of my life has been wonderful and healthy. 8 1/2 years ago... I could NOT say that. Thanks lap band docs.⭐️

Caffeine?
Perhaps some watered down herbal tea just to see how your body reacts? Your doc may have reasons, but non caffeinated may be his advice... Call and ask on Monday. His office is there for his patients to ask. I hope?? Good luck

Cost Curious - Plastics
Well...TT and plication was around 7k this last march.... Seems like a reasonable sum when I check with this board ????

Protein bars... When did u start eating them?
Some posters like quest bars. They do well for protein. Not too much sugar and they taste very good. Gmc vitamins and on line. Some coscos but unusual Good luck????????

Why am I holding onto my fat?
@@Bandista What a great soul searching post. ???? I learn a lot here about each of our trials and tribulations. Life goes on. Yet we each keep going along working our newer ways of eating and living. I am happy at a size 10-12. I may never reach a drs ideal goal, but I really like life at this size.... 8 + years ago I was a size 22. I'll keep doing my best at Protein, Water and exercise, but I refuse to be unhappy at such a healthy size... I ADORE being "normal" ( to me) in this world.

VIP Member Check In
Welcome house calls, Hope you get a lot of information that you can use on this site. Everyone is different but Protein, Water and exercise seem to be a common theme after WLS . I have to remind myself about water all the time. Ask questions... We are hopeful for positive results and have lots of different people trying different ways to lose and maintain weight loss.

Banders #6
JWM YOU ARE GETTING STRONGER! And your soon to be ex is doing down right immature and hurtful things. I'm sorry for your girls... It is not their issues. Now, you can be the mature one and rise above his pettiness. It is difficult, but you can do it. Just like the 5K... Hard but worth it. I'm hoping things get resolved.... At one point I had to bifurcate ( separate the divorce from assets). Just to keep moving along... Just a very distant memory. Like I hope yours becomes????

Seriously thinking of the lap band
Many (most) of us are here because we could not successfully lose weight AND KEEP it off. It is a personal choice to change your eating habits with WLS but so many of us are thankful! I spent 50 years above my ideal weight. About 10 of those obese, before I knew I did not want to have the next chapter if my life involved with negative internal dialogue and failure on my weight control. Research all avenues and chat with those that have gone before you And best of luck... It is easier once you commit in my opinion. I don't know if I would have believed that 8 years ago... We do change!

Port pain on inside
Speaking just for me, my port is about 2" circumference. Yes I can see it a bit and feel it. It hurts if anything pressed it hard... Mostly I don't notice it much. Good luck and keep posting.
