  1. I remember some questions on mine (true / false) like I hear voices that tell me to hurt myself, or hurt other people. Most of them make you wonder why in the world you need to take a test that asks you questions like this. I really found it amusing - nothing to fret about!
  2. Several years ago I had a bout with cryptosporidiosis and ended up in the ER to receive IV fluids because of dehydration. From what you are describing it sounds like you are dehydrated. I was warned that the number one problem post op is dehydration so if your not getting your water and protein in it will not get better. I agree with Jess55 you need to call your doc. If you feel too sick to keep things down your doc needs to know, there are meds that can be prescribed that could help. It's amazing how much better you feel when you're well hydrated - I speak from experience!
  3. I haven't used a crock pot since I was banded but they are a great way to cook chicken and if I have the time I prefer to cook it this way. I just boil the chicken in Water on the stove top. I like to overcook it so it just kind of falls apart or shreds easily (the crock pot is great for this). I still put it in the Ninja to make sure it is a good mushy consistency for now.
  4. I normally walk to and from school (a little over 1/2 * each way) oops...* 1/2 mile
  5. I'm not a teacher - I'm a special ed aid for a 2nd grader and a 4th grader with crossing guard and recess duties. I had my surgery on Friday the 13th and returned Monday the 23rd. The 10 days off worked well for me. I normally walk to and from school (a little over 1/2 each way) but have still been having my husband drop me off in the mornings. I find by the time I shower and get ready in the morning I'm a little to drained to walk to school. By the afternoon I am fine to walk home.
  6. I just put chicken in my Ninja. You may need to add a little water or chicken broth but it's a lot cheaper than buying baby food.
  7. No you didn't miss anything. I started the process back in August with my plan to be banded once I met my insurance/doctors requirements for surgery, approx a 6 month program. There was not an amount of weight I needed to lose beforehand but by working with the doctors and everyone on my team I lost 70 lbs prior to surgery. I have lost about 13 pounds since surgery.
  8. I was completely out before I was given any gas. I would talk to your surgeon and explain your past. They may have some insight as to what caused it and more than likely can avoid it happening again. About two weeks before I had my surgery my 13 year old had to be sedated for earwax removal (same place as my surgery). He has sensory issues and we had talked to the anesthesiologist about not starting the IV until he was in the OR and had the gas going. The anesthesiologist explained that sometimes with the gas only people "fight" going under. He talked to us and my son and was great helping him through the IV placement that he did himself. Hopefully some of this information will be helpful to you!
  9. Today I went shopping with my 16 year old daughter and we both bought shirts at Maurice's. Before I began this journey even the largest of their plus line clothes were too small for me. It just felt so good to get to try things on with my daughter in the next dressing room and then give each other our opinions on how things look. Especially when she told me one of the dresses I tried on was too big! Sharing time with your kids and not having to worry about them being embarrassed by your size is PRICELESS!!!!
  10. It sounds normal to me. I know after I had my gallbladder out with an open surgery (scar is over 6" long) I was freaked out about the area below my incision and the fact that I couldn't feel it when I touched it with my fingers. You get used to it, of course at the time you don't want to have to get used to it!
  11. How close is it to any of your incisions? I have had other surgeries and have had areas around my incisions where I lost feeling. They have gotten better over time but I think there is still some loss of sensation. I believe it is normal unless it is a large area and not near an incision.
  12. Possible you had too much or had it too fast. I did have tomato basil soup around day 4 or 5. I use baby spoons now. It helps me slow down.
  13. Everyone is different. I went back to work 9 days after my surgery. Even though my work is not strenuous I do move a lot at work. I think sitting in one position for an extended period of time would have been uncomfortable for me at that point. You didn't mention if you would be driving, a passenger or a combination. I think if you a driving alone it's not a good idea. If someone is going with you and you can share the driving as well as stop often just to move it may be okay. I take approx 8 hour road trips a couple of times a year to visit family and as good as I was feeling I don't think I would have wanted to 1 week out. I am two weeks out now and think I would be up to it - but not by myself.
  14. I know a lot of times my life seems to enter my dreams. I understand completely the surgery is on your mind and you can't get away from it! Maybe you will have a similar dream soon and tell them you are only able to eat about 1/2 cup of food so they give you the "little kid" price!
  15. The pain of finding a protein shake you like,,,and can afford! I really like the shakes and bars from my clinic but they are expensive, $13 for a pack of 7.
  16. I'm 11 days post op with about the same diet as you (plenty of Water also). I did have a few days that I had a stomach ache. I don't really know if I would classify it as a stomach ache though. More of a "yucky" feeling in my stomach. I know very descriptive right? I don't really know how to better explain it though. It did seem to be mostly after sitting for longer periods of time. I would say give it a couple more days and if it doesn't get better call your doc. If it gets worse or you feel like you might throw up I would call your doctor right away though.
  17. Can't wait for anything with a crunch to it!
  18. Same thing with me on my android - very frustrating! Especially if it's a thread you have started!
  19. I was lucky and had no shoulder pain. I also had dermabond with no steristrips. Everyone is different. Good Luck!
  20. If your incisions are warm to the touch it could be a sign of infection. I would call your doctor tomorrow and ask. Could be normal, like you said it was similar to when you got a tattoo, but better safe that sorry!
  21. I think it's very normal from what I've read on here. I think that is one of the reasons it's best to only weigh ourselves once a week.
  22. How about those of us post op start sharing what was easier than we expected and what was tougher than expected for those who are still pre op? For me, I was one of the lucky ones who did not have shoulder pain. I also was not in much pain at all post op. So I would say that was what was easier for me post op. Tougher post op? Trying to time things. When to eat, when to take vitamins, when to drink, etc. At first I was trying to follow the don't drink 30 min before or 30 min after a meal. Once I realized it's all liquid right now and decided not to worry about this until I hit the mushy phase, it got easier to make sure I got enough of everything in.
  23. Are you drinking 48+ oz of water a day also? If you are, just give it time. Sometimes I won't drop or even gain a little and then all of a sudden I'm down 1-3 lbs.
  24. I also have dermabond. I looked online last night and found it normally starts to come off in 5-10 days. You are not supposed to pick at it but let it come off naturally.
  25. Protein shakes do make you gassy - I have been using them pre-op for about 6 months and have never been so gassy in my life!
