  1. Yesterday I had an experience that caused me very real hurt and anger. Here's what happened: I recd a letter from my father-in -law who lives in another state and who is single and fairly elderly. It was just a note to tell me about something rather inconsequential; at the end there was a PS saying "good luck with your operation". Well, since I don't plan on any surgery other than lapbanding, I concluded that this is what he meant. However, I had no plans to anounce my surgery to anyone other than my very closest family and friends and certainly NOT my Father in Law! I suspected that my husband had told him.(I confronted him the second he walked thru the door upon getting home from work, and it was him). I know you are probably wondering why this was so upsetting to me and frankly, I was surprised at the fury and betrayal I felt. I was beside myself- of course we had a screaming fight. My husband just kept saying that if I had wanted it to be a big secret I should have told him. Any comments???:think
  2. Hi Larry, thanks for your encouraging reply! I am seeing Dr Cribbins at Plano Presbyterian Hospital. His office nurse was banded in April and has already lost I think she said 70lb! I know this may be odd, but she is the first person whom I have ever seen who I know for sure had wls. Anyway her results are very impressive. Good luck with your fluids! I read on spotlight that later high caloric clear jiuces are not a good idea, so be sure and drink enough apple and cranberry juice to last a lifetime!LOL. Seanmama:D
  3. Twinkie Milkshakes? This type of article just gets me going!
  4. Thanks for the link- it was VERY helpful. I am such a newbie! The info just persuded me even more to go ahead and get banded. Seanmama
  5. Woohoo! You are sooooo close! Best of luck on Tuesday. Has it taken a long time to get to this point? Seanmama
  6. Another quickie! My drs office said it will take 2 weeks to get his letter dictated and sent to the ins co. and then surg will be scheduled if all is well up to 6mo ahead! How much badgering on my part is usually needed:) Or should I just let them do their thing? Seanmama
  7. Howdy! I am a band wannabe from Texas. I have had the initial appointment with my surgeon- it was very informative and exciting. Now I wait for insurance approval- hopefully uhc will be okay about covering my surgery. From what i have read on this and other websites I am curious about the very different weight losses experienced by banders. Of course I realise that we are all unique and no two people will have exactly the same result; however, does anyone have an opinion on how to maximize wt loss. I am afraid of doing this procedure and then only losing a total of 20 or 30 lbs. Seanmama
