  1. I don't know where you're located but I'm getting the band done next month and I used a place called TrueResults, they have a couple of locations, they took care of almost everything. I'm new to Houston so I didn't know anyone, they were able to recommend and PCP, the shrink, they did all the nutritionist visits, they are providing the surgeon, the sleep study... all I had to do was show up for all the appointments. I started the process in April or May 2011 and I have not had to talk to the insurance company once. They crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's, I got approved first time out. It seems you may be a bit further along in the process though. ~Shaz
  2. High, Good luck on the surgery.... I'm getting the surgery done while on a sabbatical ~1600 miles from everyone I know. I moved to Texas (not for the surgery) to take a break from life and while down here am getting the surgery done. I haven't told anyone at work or my family. I know my family would be supportive (my mother has been encouraging me to get the surgery for a couple of years now), but I am not comfortable with them knowing, maybe I return to New York. I don't think anyone needs to know about my surgery because my struggle with my weight has always been a private thing. But everyones story is different and how comfortable you feel with sharing this with people is wholly dependent on you. All opinions express above are my own and should be taken with a large grain of salt. ~Shaz
  3. Greetings Just joined the forums, 34 year old NYC native taking a break in Houston, decided to make the change while I still have insurance and no high calorie distractions. Got approved and my surgery date is Dec 7. 2011. liquid diet starts next week, which should be interesting.. Looking forward to the upcoming adventure and I hope I can inspire and be inspired by these forums. ~Shaz
