  1. you probably got a shot of heparin in your stomach before surgery...do u remember where they gave it to you in your stomach? That can cause bruising and for a longer period of time than a normal bruise.
  2. Quite frankly I do find your comment offensive and rude. You have no right to judge me and what I may or may not be feeling. I have in no way strayed from from my eating plan per my physician and nutritionists orders. My comments on here asking about suggestions were only to inquire as to see if other people have come up with creative ways of making the food stages/phases more tolerable. I am not seeking to have more food than allowed and trust me education is key especially prior to making a decision to have this surgery in the first place. If you have misinterpreted any of my posts then that is your own problem, but you shouldn't blast people for posting on here and inferring that they are uneducated or misinformed about the proper nutrition phases and how important they are. Sometimes people can find creative ways of eating full liquids and with so many people on here Im sure not everyone eats the same ol same ol and they mix it up a little to share the experience. I was not insinuating that I wanted to skip stages or eat more food. Please take your "concern" elsewhere.
  3. Im day 6 post-op and on full liquids until day 14. For breakfast at 8 am I had an 8 oz protein shake, no problems. Now 11a.m. and my stomach is doing some major growling. Should I go ahead and have yogurt or something or wait another hour for lunchtime?? I have been drinking water in between meals. Thanks!
  4. I am day 6 post-op and I am feeling better each day. My incisions too were the least of my worries compared the pain at the port site. I still have a dull pain, feels like bruising at the left side of my stomach when moving around. Its just weird. I have had no nausea/vomiting and tolerating the liquids fine. I am on full liquids now until day 14 then can go to pureed/mushy stage. Yea for tuna salad and chicken salad with light mayo! In the first few days after surgery I was definitely second guessing the whole thing but I admit it has gotten better. Good luck to you!

Well day 5 is almost over. Rode in the car today for the first time since surgery. I am still pretty tender in the area where I believe my port is. Hopefully this is normal. Some bumps and turns were a little painful. Walked around the mall some. Now Im home resting after having my dinner. 1/2 cup of blended chicken soup and 2 tsp of creamed potatoes. So full dont even want to think about food. My follow up appointment isnt until the 27th and I have scales here at home but not sure if I trust them or not. Dont want to get my hopes up! All in all I feel better, my knees arent aching. Just wish the pain in my left side would disappear! Its more annoying than anything. and I think from trying to baby that side it has made my back hurt on the right side. I think thats it anyway. Got two 8 ounce protein shakes down today. Felt good about that. Hopefully Im on the right track. Time will tell!
  6. From what I have seen on here every doctor has been different with preop diet and post op diet. I am day 5 and do full liquids but it includes creamed soups and cottage cheese. it says day 7 i can go to mushies. which include scrambled eggs tuna salad light mayo refried Beans, Peanut Butter. So as u can tell everyoone is different.
  7. Thanks guys! Yes my surgeon gave me guidelines but I was looking for some suggestions to change it up a bit. Im full liquids right now with creamed soups, cottage cheese, etc...
  8. I'm day 5 after surgery and have kept all liquids down, even cottage cheese and runny oatmeal. What can we eat??? Any suggestions??
  9. Hi, I was banded last Friday Dec 9, 2011. I have tolerated all liquids fine. No nausea or vomiting. What can I do on day 3? Any suggestions for something different? Thanks all!

No nausea or vomiting. Just real tenderness at incision sites and sneeing or coughing is painful. The gas pains are bad too. Still today having those. Each day has gotten better though.
  11. I was banded on Friday Dec 9th too! Yay for us! I so far have tolerated liquids fine too. No nausea or anything. And seem to be tolerating 2 ounces at a time throughout the day. I also am eating ice chips. As for the blood in the nose sometimes the oxygen you got while in recovery can dry your nose and create this blood you see. I dont think there is a concern there. Good luck and lets keep in touch!
  12. My dietician said I could get a rotisserie chicken and put it in the blender with chicken broth and make my own soup to feel a little satisfaction during the preop diet. It was wonderful! You can even add some frozen veggies in after they are cooked and blend with it too. Also in the preop diet phase you can peel a baked potato put it in the blender add some skim milk and butter and u have creamed potatoes. Very satisfying! Hope this helps!

First day after surgery and I'm sore. I have sneezed today and boy does that hurt too. I have been up walking around the house but thats about it. Just up and down today. Fluids have been well today. Been keeping track of my intake and output. Breakfast: 2 ounces Nectar Protein Shake 2 ounces Gelatin Drink. Then every 20 minutes eating some ice chips. Lunch: 2 ounces of Broth 2 ounces Propel Zero. More ice chips between. Dinner: 2 ounces protein drink 2 ounces Broth. More ice chips. Able to keep it all down. No nausea today. I have been voiding well too so I must be getting enough fluids. Day 2 tomorrow will probably be about the same. Going to try and include some sugar free popsicles tomorrow to change it up a bit. I got on the chat in here earlier and it was very informative. Looks like Im doing what I should be. Hoping tomorrow will be a less sore day for me. Have a great night!
  16. I was banded yesterday Dec 9. Im doing pretty good today. Some pain in the stomach area where the port is. I have been worried today too about getting in enough fluids. I have had for breakfast 2 ouces of nectar protein shake and 2 ounces of gelatin.(over a 25 minute period) Ice chips between meals. Lunch 2 ounces of broth and 2 ounces of propel zero again over 25 minutes or so. More ice chips and 1 ounce protien shake between too. And at supper I have plans for 2 ounces protein shake and 2 ounces of broth. I worry about calories and dont know if I should be or not. I have been urinating so I guess Im doing okay. Any suggestions??
