  1. HA HA HA HA HA!!! So funny... yet SO true!! He STILL hasn't pooped! (Sorry Terry... but maybe it's helping to keep your mind off other things??? You KNOW you can't wait to find out what's going on with MO!!!)
  2. Good Morn, Vi's~~ Laura... Carson was one of our choices for DD... but it's also a boy's name, so be warned! (My mom was the one who was anti-"gender-neutral" names.) Judy... I hope you don't take this the wrong way... but... that ticker oogies me out! Sorry... Pam... Glad that your first day went well. They sound like angels! I'm sure they'll stay that way all year... TracyK... Yep, K is not like we remember... it's more like 1st or 2nd grade from when we were kids... it's serious! Jen... You're motivating me to get back to the gym!! Thanks! Kat... I'm glad you're feeling better... your band seems so sensitive these days! Janie... I hate that men can do that!! Grrrrr... ((Terry)) Hi TracyKS & Suzie!! Hope Haydee is enjoying her trip! (16 hrs on a bus w/my MIL??? I don't see it happening!!) My cat still has not pooped since he's been home... & I can't let him out of "quarantine" until he does... & he's getting very cranky at that now... Make it a great day, Vi's!
  3. Tee hee, Judy!! That is EXACTLY what it sounds like. Mmmmmm... pot roast. I make them monthly during the Fall & Winter... my family loves them & I love the crock pot, so it's all good. I have been very, very good w/food today. When I felt hungry, I made 3 oz. of red meat. I can eat only a little of that, then it sticks & I don't want to eat anymore. Meat is the only thing that my band "stops" and the only thing that fills me up enough to kill the head hunger. I am really whacked out. I know this. I am trying to work with it. My doc says that my band is full to the brim... so the next time I think I need a fill I have to go to the hospital & do the florouscope thing... which I don't want to do... so I'm trying everything I can think of to get my band "working" again w/out it... I went to my regular doc last week and I'd GAINED 5 lbs in the 3 months since I'd last seen here... I told her that I'm always up & down w/that 5, she just caught me on an upswing... it's true... ugh.
  4. Wow, Tracy... they look great! You're a better woman than I... I could not have stayed in the house w/all that mess going on!! Yowza!!
  5. Good Morn (Boy that "Title" thing is annoying, isn't it? Why did it suddenly start automatically showing up?? Glad I know how to delete!!) Well, had to get up extra-early today to go get Mo the cat from the emerg vet hospital... they close @ 8am the day after the weekend (usually Monday, but Tues today cuz' of the holiday weekend... lucky guy... he got an extra day there!)... & they charge a LOT if you're late... So anywhoo... he still has about 6" of poop in him... he pooped a little bit on his own, but last night they had to sedate him & "manually extract" as much as they could... he's still woozy (walking like a drunken Violet)... & has his right front let shaved w/IV holes in it... he's happy to be home... I have to keep him in my bedroom/bath w/his own food/water/box so I can monitor intake & output (can my life GET any better?)... + I have a liquid medicine I have to give him (oh there, it will improve later today, when he spits sticky medicine all over me)... + I have to make an appointment w/his regular vet for follow-up... argh... the $1K cat! DH is some kind of steamed... That's it from here for now... am trying -- *TRYING!!* -- to be good w/ food today... just for one stinkin' day... ack!...
  6. That's it!! DENNY if he's a boy!!
  7. Good Morn, Vi's~~ There is still no "movement" on the cat front (or should it be "end"?). Poor guy... he must be REALLY miserable!! If he still doesn't poop by later this afternoon, then they will have to "sedate him and manually remove the fecal matter". Oh dear.
  8. (((Terry))) My heart is with you!!!
  9. Hey Gals... Well, today did not go as planned... Woke up to my cat, Mo, making a very loud, unpleasant sound... kind of like if you stepped on an old squeeky toy... about once every 5 mins... he's been acting a bit odd lately & I've been keeping an eye on him to see if he's constipated (it's a rather common problem w/him, unfortunately)... so after about an hour of this I call his vet, who doesn't work on weekends... so then I call the Emergency Weekend Vet place & they want me to bring him in pronto in case he's got a ureter blockage... So I take him in (of course, once I put him in the cat carrier he doesn't make a peep!)... we get there... they do a quick check... no pee-pee issues... so we wait... then they feel around & think he may have some hardened poop in there... so they take an x-ray... about 1/2 hour later the vet comes & gets me to come see the x-ray... and it very clearly shows that he has at least 2' of poop stuck in his intenstines! (2' of poop in a 1' cat!) The vet can't believe it... I told her that we're overachievers in our family. So... they kept him to give him IV fluids & medicine that's supposed to kick his intestines into gear + enemas... they said that he should be ready tonight... I hadn't heard from them, so I just called them... they've done everything + given him 2 enemas... & NOTHING. Zip. Zilch. No poop. So they're keeping him over night. Poor guy!! When I'd left the exam room to go look @ the x-ray, he got so upset that he pawed at my purse, scattered the contents all over the floor, & hopped into it! I have a pic of it on my cell phone. So I can only imagine how he's dealing w/being there all day & night w/enemas and an IV! AND... dh is NONE TOO PLEASED! I could go on about that angle, but why?? I'm sure you can imagine. I've been @ my sister's the rest of the day... just got home... I feel bad for Mo the cat...
  10. Good Saturday Morn, Vi's! CONGRATULATIONS DENISE!!! Fantastic!!! Travel safely, Tracy!! DD has her 1st pom performance this morning... & naturally it's at the 8am game! Then she goes again @ 2pm! Other than that it'll be a lot of this & that this weekend... family bbq tomorrow... etc. & so forth. Enjoy the "unofficial" end of summer...
  11. Hi Vi's! Busy day! Smooches!!
  12. Good catch on that one, Laura... I didn't even notice... "MIL"... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Am off to watch my first HS JV soccer game... in the rain! It hasn't rained here in more than a month and it picks today to start?? Lovely... TTFN!
  13. I secong the "Curious Incident..." book... loved it! The Time Traveller's Wife Like Water for Elephants (Laura, did you ever read it?)
  14. Give me strength... I am now baking up the first of two batches of "Double Chocolate Chunk" cookies (the "double" being semi-sweet & white... chunks that I cut up, not chips) to give to the all the school's bus drivers tomorrow afternoon to thank them for the first week. Eureka! I know why I am fat! It's the PTA's fault!!! :tt2:
  15. Yeah, Tracy... I googled it this a.m., also, and started copying down links... & then I thought, "duh, this is just what she is going to do & she'll get the same links as you" so I stopped. So not really helpful, huh. Sorry! I got my Secret Santa name, I got my Secret Santa name!! Is it YOU??
  16. Oh yeah, Pam... your description of your evening made me think: "Day-um, I need me a WIFE, too!!" :smile2: Haydee, I feel your pain. Yesterday I did a really "novice bander" thing & gobbled down some scrambled eggs w/cheese quickly & WOWZA... the pain! I never pb'd, but they just sat there & tortured me for HOURS! Actually, I bet pb'ing would've been preferable!! Esp. as I was at school the whole time so I had to act fine!! TracyK... I cry & carry on when cleaning toilets, too... it's my absolute LEAST FAV household cleaning chore... blech!
  17. Wow Tracy! What an experience... for both you & your mom. Yikes! Here's another lovely quote from a plaque (is that the right way to spell it or is that the gunk on your teeth?? Ha!! I'm the editor, I should know... but it's too early, honestly...) that my friend also gave me yesterday. Funny that I posted only the funny one yesterday. I'm really not a plaque person, but... she said it made her think of me, which is nice: "If you planted hope today in any hopeless heart, If someone's burden was lighter because you did your part, If you caused a laugh that chased a tear away, If tonight your name is mentioned when someone kneels down to pray, They your day was well spent." It makes me think of ALL THE VI'S... Make it a good day, everyone!
  18. Funny yet appropriate for me belated birthday card that I received today at lunch w/my friend (it's a "Maxine" the grumpy old lady card): "There are women our age who run marathons! And I say, "Good for you!" <open the card> "Leaves more margaritas for the rest of us." Tee Hee G'night!
  19. I know it's been said before, but wowza... what an AMAZING group of women we are!! We are smart, funny, strong, reliable, no-nonsense, and most of all CARING, LOVING, & THERE FOR EACH OTHER! How did I get through the day before I found the Violets??? ((JUDY))... you've got the power of the purple with you... we love you!! TracyKS... ha ha, I know what you mean... "but ya'lls problems are making me feel better about mine..." Have I never shared this with you? Don't remember where I got it from, but basically it goes something like -- If everyone put all their problems & issues in a big bag (literally), then put their bags up on a big stage w/everyone else's "bags of crap"... then you're told that you can go up and take ANY bag that you want... we'd each go back & get OUR OWN BAG! True, huh?? Thanks for the text, Janie! Pam: PICTURES!!! Sounds FAB-U!! Make it a great night!!
  20. Good Morning, Vi's~~ Pam... I'd completely forgotten about that "survey"... I went back through my "sent" e-mails & found it & re-read it & moved it to my "personals" folder to keep & consider... thanks... I'm feeling better... it's not like I'm about to commit hari kari or anything... just a low-grade unease... as someone here said, I think, that perhaps it's signaling or starting a change... you've all given me great advice... what else from my vi's??... thank you!! Dr's appointment today... just bloodwork, blah blah nothing major... then to school to do -- shocker! -- PTA stuff. DS has his first HS soccer scrimmage today, but it's away... too far for me to go... but DH is going as it's sorta near where he works. Make it a great day, everyone!
  21. Thanks for the replies, gals... I keep thinking, "This, too, shall pass."... Or... it won't... & one day all of a sudden I'll find myself on a meditation retreat at an ashram in India doing yoga all day... HA HA HA!
  22. I'm tracking flights & costs on Kayak... right now it's like $375 for 1-stop, up to $700 for nonstop!! And Judy, several of my options make the 1 stop in DETROIT! So it'll be awhile before I fill in the spreadsheet... Oh, and I'm tracking both Fri - Mon AND Thurs - Mon rates... so don't count me out completely on a Thurs arrival... we'll just have to wait & see...
  23. Travel safely, Laura!! Deep dark confessions: I'm back from PTA'ing & pedicuring... & in my girly girl talk w/my friend over the bubbling footbaths, it dawned on me... I think I'm having a "mid-life crisis"! Well, "crisis" isn't really the word... more of a mid-life "depression"? "angst"? "upset"?? I'm not upset about DS getting older... it's more about thinking back to me @ that age & that I was so shy & careful & cautious back then and I didn't take chances, go places, do things... lost opportunities, I guess... & now that he's on the cusp of the possibilities of his life... I wish I was, too. This is truly a lot to think about. My friend kept saying, "So what do you want to do? Do it!" and you know... I couldn't think of anything! Or when I did, I immediately discounted it by saying that I don't have the time, or the $$, or that I have too many responsibilities to do something(s) for me. So she said, "If none of that were a problem, then what would you do?"... but I don't know! So I am going to meditate on that for awhile. I just know that just below my happy-go-lucky, responsible, self-less exterior, I harbor a gnawing unease and unhappiness... I also think this is why I always keep myself so busy... because when I pause -- like I did earlier w/the coffee & pedicure, nothing to do or no where to be -- then I feel it & I don't like feeling it. Even right now as I type this... tears are building in my eyes and I feel sad... and I don't want to feel that way. My life is SOOOOO good and I am so blessed & grateful for it... how can I be sad?? So... as I said... mid-life "something".
  24. They're adorable, Tracy!! She looks so happy!! How are you holding up??
  25. Best wishes & lots of Purple Power for you today, Janie!! ((hugs))
