    Loose Skin In Your 20's!

Hi, I'm getting surgery in March! I'm 23 years old and 270 lbs.....ewwww! Anyway, I know that when you lose a large amount of weight there is a possibility of sagging skin. But, we have the advantage of youth on our side. So I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has been successful with losing 100+ pounds and what there problems were with loose skin, or if they had any at all! Thanks
  2. Hello fellow bandsters, I had surgery on March 12th, 2012. I lost 16 pounds pre-op and another 15 post-op.....but that's it! I'm so frustrated that I want to burst into tears. I've had two fills so far totaling 5.75 cc's with another fill on July 6th and my restriction is still very low. Granted it is a tad bit harder to eat certain things than it was after the first fill, but after two fills I should be feeling something....RIGHT??!!!??? I've recently began working out like an animal in the gym and my scale still won't grant me any leeway. My scale hasn't moved much since the end of May. Please help guys, I'm becoming sad and discouraged and beginning to wonder if this was all worth it.

    Please Help!!!! Frustrated And Angry!

Well granted I'm not perfect, but I recently signed up for weight watchers with which I've had previous success. I'm on track with that do far. And I know I'm very wrong for this, but I've been weighing myself obsessively in the past month. Sometimes twice a day. I don't eat the "slide through" foods. For the most part I eat okay. But I can still eat full portions of things, healthy things, but full portions non the less! That is my sure sign that I'm not at the green. I hope I'm able to feel it when I do get there. Thanks guys!
  4. Hi guys! I don't know if this is TMI (too much information), but I felt the need to ask! I was banded on March 12, 2012 and have really had no problems except for minor port area pain when I'm over working my self...oh yeah and every now and twice now I've gotten a small stomach ache when I eat. I get my first fill next Thursday. My question is: Has anyone else become a little irregular? I've been like clockwork since I was a teenager and me not feeling the urge to go has begun to interfere with my morning weigh ins. Just 2 pounds, but this early in the game for me....every pound counts! Has this happened to anyone else after "the band?" And if so, what can I do? Activia, laxative? I'm clueless! Thanks!

    Pre-Op Diet

I am starting on day 6 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed 5 protein shakes and have lost 12 pounds in 5 days. But all I'm allowed to have is the protein shake.....THAT'S IT! I broke last night and had a salad and a piece of turkey bacon, and I'm feeling so guilty. I've done so well with not eating anything at all for 4 straight days. My surgery is on the 12th and I'm scared that the salad will prevent me from having surgery. I don't really think it will, but the guilt is making me paranoid. HELP!

    March Bandsters!

March 12th for me! Good luck everyone!
  10. Hello, My insurance company required me to attend a three month course, once a week, on WLS before we all get approved for the surgery. They moniter our weight loss with a weekly weigh-in. I have not really been trying my hardest to lose weight during those three months (Two pound weight loss total). I will of course kick it in gear once the pre-op liquid diet starts. So here's my question(s)! Has anyone had to postpone their surgery by Dr.'s order for them to lose weight before they actually have the surgery? Has your insurance company denied you because you didn't lose weight before surgery? I have Blue Cross Blue Sheild of Maryland. I don't think this will happen, but it is a minor concern. Also for those of you who have had the band, were you successful after surgery even thought you had no weight loss prior to the pre-op diet? About Maegen: Age: 23 Weight: 274 First Pre-op: January 6th, 2012 Second Pre-op: February 2, 2012 Thank You!

    No Weight-Loss Before Surgery!

Yeah, I never drank caffine or soda anyway! I have cut down on carbs (a little LOL)! So right now I'm just playing the waiting game! Thanks for your encouraging words! Good Luck in your journey!

    Almost All Pre-Req's Conquered

You can do it! I'm finished everything! I have my final pre-op appointment with my doctor on Feb 2nd, and that's it! I'm just waiting for a date! This surgery and all that MAY OR MAY NOT come with it is indeed a lot to make you go crazy. I've read a million and one reviews. And you know what, this surgery has worked for too many people for me to worry about the negative things. Don't worry about it! Just be happy knowing that you now have a real shot at conquering the battle. Good Luck!

    No Weight-Loss Before Surgery!

I'm not at the point of the pre-op liquid diet. I have to schedule my surgery date first. Some insurance companies make you do a 3 or 6 month waiting period before surgery. I am nearing the end of my second month. With one month left, and having surgery in March. Losing weight isn't a complete necessity to qualify for the surgery. The facility where my surgery takes place has a class during that 3 or 6 month waiting period about what to expect after surgery. Most people seem to think I'm talking about the 2 week liquid diet when I'm not! I'm talking about a diet to lose weight before the liquid diet. But thanks!

    No Weight-Loss Before Surgery!

I would have had to do six months, but I have been a weight watchers member for over a year now, so they only made me do three months. I'm glad to hear that! I don't think it will be an issue but it's still a minor concern..Thanks!
  15. I met with my Dr. on January 6th and discussed the fact that I wanted lap band surgery. He didn't tell me not to get that surgery, in fact he told me such wonderful things about it. But he says that the surgery works for some and not for others. He knows for sure that gastric and the sleeve work. But I'm 23 years old with NO co-morbities and I know how to eat correctly and when I do exercise, I love it! He's a competent surgeon and teaches other surgeons how to do it! I'm wondering why he would suggest the more serious of the surgeries for me when I'm a very healthy, young person who is capable of doing the work that comes with the band! Help....suggestions, anything!
  16. You should be so proud! That's a lot of weight you've lost! I hope I'm as successful as you have been!
  17. I totally agree with you! I don't want to re-route my digestive system and all of that craziness at the age of 23! I'm gonna stick with the band, and I'm gonna succeed! I see you have done quite well for your self already! That's wonderful! Thanks for responding!
  18. Wow, that's great to know! Thank you and good luck!

Thanks for responding ladies! It has helped out a lot!
  20. Wow! Thank you to everyone for responding! I am going to stick with the band. In my heart, I've always known that it was the right thing for me to do! I'm glad to know that other people's Dr.'s tried to suggest it to them too. I feel comfortable knowing that it wasn't just mine!
  21. I'm not very fond of the cutting and removing part. He said it was my decision, I'm sticking to the band!
  22. Thank you for saying that! I thought my dr. had some sort of bypass quota to meet or something. Knowing that other dr.'s suggest that makes me feel better!

    Loose Skin In Your 20's!

I can tolerate that. My arms are mostly muscle anyway! I hope I'm as lucky as you, good luck!
  24. Wow, thank you for responding! I live in Maryland also. He said that he would defiantly do the band, he called himself giving me "other options". It was weird, he was telling me how great the band could be for people, then telling me that results are determined by the person's amount of work they put in! I'm gonna work hard for it! I think he wants me to lose as quickly as bypass and sleeve patients. But I have no health problems and I don't mind taking my time! Thanks again!
