  1. My therapist "suggested" tha I stay away from this site because it just screams "sickness". WTF, this is the one of the few places I can get some helpfull information. I should mention that this therapist is telling me that I really don't need WLS because I'm not that "big". Then why in the hell would two doctors give me letters of medical nessesity. Has anybody else had this problem???????
  2. Thank you Dr. Jossart for this information... I PM you about this subject. My surgeon REALLY doesn't want any input from me about the size of stomach I'll be left with. How do I talk to this man about letting me have SOME say in my surgery? Thank you for your time.
  3. Thank you for your reply! I'm in the 3rd month of my medically supervised diet, I just feel stupid with this "book" that gets hauled in with me when I see doctor. No one ever ask for it. I'm affraid of having to turn all this over to the insurance company. If I lose a day or two they might deny my claim for VSG!!!!
  4. fitday.com, I'll check it out, thanks!
  5. My question is a simple one, even stupid... nobody at the surgeons office or my primary care doctor has told me what to do with all these food logs I'm collecting???? Anybody have a similar experience?
  6. Best of luck to you, and a quick healing for you!!!!
  7. Thats kind of why I have been read so much here, I really want to know what I'm getting into. As I read I find more often than not that those who fail after the WLS are the one's that don't follow the set program and are disapointed with the way the that they now have eat. I'm still waiting to complete my medicaly supervised diet so my comment is just an observation though I have no practical experince with living with WLS. Those persons who appear to be successful with the WLS seem to be very disciplined and positve. Maybe some people think that after the WLS that they can continue with the poor eating habits. Where there's smoke there's fire.......
  8. I had mine today and it was about 1 1/2 hours. I briefly spoke with the Doctor. Now get this, this guy advised me to find a therapist and see them till my surgery and continue with the therapy for 3 months post op. Sooo, I guess I'm cleared for the surgery, I think.... He did say that he wanted to be sure that I knew what I was getting into and he really emphisized that the "new" stomach would only hold 3 oz. He also tried to warn me of the dangers of NOT eating the 6 times a day after the surgery AND the results of over eating and splitting the stomach. That was a new one for me, wow...
  9. Have you tried Super whey PROTEIN SHOT by Body Fortress? I get them at walmart and they have 26g of protein, 1g carbs @ 110 cals and they ARE cheap...
  10. I would look for a non profit hospital that does WLS. The one in my area are willing to provide after care no matter where you had your surgery, even the support classes/exercise are open to anyone who has had WLS. I hope all goes well for you.
  11. I know I did before I even started my 6 mo supervised diet, which I'm only now headed into month 2. I'm still thinking that way (traditional diet) in the back of my mind. I was talking to my friend of 15 years and he reminded me that I have always tried to lose the weight since he's known me but I never could do it. That woke me up in a hurry. So now I say to hell with it and getting the surgery, I want to enjoy some of my years on this earth.
  12. Has anyone questioned the amount of effort they have put into prior diet attempts???? It seems that this medically supervised diet is causing me to call into question if I really have ever tried to lose the weight. I KNOW I have tried, gyms , trainers, diet books and all that. Hell, I even spent a fortune on those dame pre-packaged meals. Is this normal??? Thanks!
  13. I have been battling with UNITED HEALTHCARE for about two weeks trying to findout exactly what my benefits will cover. I have been informed by my "bariactic coordinator" that for the VSG is not currently covered. UHC will only cover the lap band or the surgery that rearranges all the plumbing. So my situation is do I get the band until I can afford to pay for the VSG (Dr. Wathkins) out of pocket???? It's pricey but I could have all the money in about a year, ANY OPINIONS, ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Sooooo, can I deduct it from from my taxes even though I have a surgery done in Mexico?
  15. Does anybody have regrets getting VSG over the plication surgery?
  16. Thanks for your reply, it helps to hear such positive feedback about your VSG, I hope the rest is smooth sailing.... how big is the subject eating in general, I am not sure I understand this question? what I mean is,some people are emotional eaters along with social eaters, family, friends. How much a problem is the whole holiday season? (if at all, yes, I'm paranoid)
  17. Hi all, very new to this site so here it goes....... I'm in the process of getting WLS, I originaly wanted the lapband but my Dr. is REALLY pushing the gastric bypass. I have no interest in that surgery at all but I am considering the VSG instead of the lapband. but I have concerns........ I'm mid 40's with type 2 diabetes, way to high cholesterol, degenerative disk disease, back problems bad knees and SEVERAL other medical issuse. My concerns with VSG is; how do you keep your Protein up after the surgery, is there dehydration concerns with this surgery, how big is the subject eating in general, do you get enough Vitamins from the amount of food you now can eat. Is it possible to put on some muscle after/during weightloss. Do the cravings go away after a while..... I sure I'll have more questions as I get further along, thanks for your time
