  1. I recently moved and unearthed a lot of good clothes that I forgot about. I donated the pieces that were of lesser value and kept the best clothes to sell/consign/barter. The clothes are appropriate for a 20-30's young professional - both work and going out clothes. It is an entire wardrobe from suits from Macy's to Michael Kors Jeans. Stores include Macy's, Lane Byant, Gap, Old Navy, JC Penney, Debs etc. Probably close to 200 pieces. Many are new with tags. Everything from business suits, cocktail attire, going out clothes, casual clothes etc. Great for someone 20's-30's. Pickup in Hyattsville, MD. We can discuss shipping or meeting in the DC, MD, VA area. I honestly cannot afford to just give them away. I am open to hearing trades or cash offer. Trades must be of equal value - I could really use a laptop, SLR camera etc. Clothes in size 4-8 considered. Please email me to discuss the exchange! kimberlina180@yahoo.com
  2. Unfortunately the local plus-size consignment store that I was going to take them to closed down. The consignment stores in my area do not accept over size 12. And to be honest, when I was plus-size I never even thought of looking in a consignment shop because I didn't think they would have anything for me. I may eventually do a pop-up shop at a flea market if I can't get rid of them online. I was looking in to getting an ebay seller to post for me. I can do it but I just don't have the time.
  3. Hello all- I was pictured on the Doctor's tv show that aired Dec 27. It was their 100,000 lb weight loss challenge. I was wondering if anyone might have recorded this show. I would like a copy of the 1 minute that they showed my picture/talked about my lapband story, If you have it please contact me! I have honestly tried all over and cannot find it. If you know how to find it online please share!

Doctors TV Show - 100,000 lb weight loss challenge

I'm looking for the full episode. The show no longer does transcripts or DVD's. That link above is the correct show but just a 30 second preview of the episode.
  5. I have boxes and boxes of clothes to get rid of. Jeans, going out clothes, office clothes etc. I love them but really want them gone! The sizes range from 14-18. The clothes are mostly from Lane Bryant, Torrid, Macys, Gap, Old Navy etc. I would like to trade them for size 8/10 clothes or something cool and completely not related to clothing. Let me know what you have to offer

    Army Ten Miler

So in 2009 I had surgery and now I just signed up for the Army Ten Miler to benefit the Fisher House. I've always wanted to do this but wouldn't have been able to without the surgery. I'm down 100+ lbs from my highest weight and pretty close to my next weight loss goal (yes I've had a few goals). The Fisher House provides lodging for families of wounded soldiers. If you can donate shoot me a message and I'll send you my donation link.

    Bariatric Buffet Pricing

My friend asked me to go to this restaurant on our birthday but I can't make it. I just looked at the pricing and they have a special pricing structure for bypass patients. I have never seen that before! Not quite right for the band (I sent an email asking if they can change it to bariatric surgery pricing) but it's still pretty cool. http://www.shady-maple.com/smorgasbord/daily-menu-pricing/

    Velashape

One of my doctors (not my lap band doc) saw my stomach and recommended velashape to tighten my skin. Has anyone tried this?

    Velashape

Here's my own definition, it's not the technical one. It is a laser technology that shrinks fat and tightens up your trouble spots. It's only good for people with trouble areas, not to get rid of a lot of fat. My doctor said I am in good shape to lose about an inch in the abdomen with it. BUT I've read horrible reviews.
  10. I was just stuck and had to spit up a little bit of fresh parsley. A bunch of spit came up with it and the toilet water splashed my face. I want to die! I just washed my face with handsoap then put purel all over it. Has this happened to anyone? Do I need to purel again?
  11. We started an activity group for people of all shapes and sizes in the DC, MD, VA area. I would like to have other bariatric surgery patients as members http://www.meetup.co...l-shapes-sizes/ Upcoming activities include a clothing swap, free yoga class, international pillow fight day, evening of jazz, brunch, krav maga intro lesson, dinner, a trip to the beaches of North Carolina for hang gliding etc. Welcome to the Washington DC, MD, and VA Kick A.S.S. Group where we welcome and host activities for men and women of All Shapes, Sizes (A.S.S.)! If you are averaged size or you’ve ever felt self-conscious about being the biggest girl or smallest guy (or vice versa) at an event or if you don’t think you can do something because of your weight this group will show you that you can! Whether you are secure at your current weight or looking to gain or lose weight this group is for you. This group will plan the standard fare events like dinners, brunches, movies, clothing swaps, potluck parties, wine tastings, and museum-outings as well as more adventurous events that may challenge you in new ways, like zip lining, zumba, kickball, climbing a rock wall, taking dance classes etc. If you haven’t done those activities before the best way to start is with other newbies like us! And if you’re afraid that you might fail at an activity don’t worry we’ll all make an A.S.S. out of ourselves together. The weather is starting to get nice! Once it warms up we will have a beginner outdoor series that will include easy hikes, walks, bike rides, and camping. We’ll take it at a slow pace suitable for everyone and take breaks as needed. Love to travel? Get ready to pack your bags for the beach, weekend road-trips, and maybe Greece this year. http://www.meetup.co...l-shapes-sizes/

Dc, Md, Va Residents: New Meetup Group Started By A Lap Bander

Hope you can join and make some of our events! We are talking about an Ocean City or Rehobeth Beach trip so we will be heading out your way too. Also in the works are Atlantic City/Jersey Shore and of course the Outer Banks trip
  13. Yeah mine was a work toilet. So public but at least I know it is cleaned a few times per day. Blah. Did you do any super face scrubs or anything special?
  14. So add alcohol wipes to the list of things I cleaned my face with after
  15. I need to get rid of 200 pieces of plus size clothes. I spent a lot of money on the clothes and can not afford to just give them away so I would like to swap them for size 8/10 clothes or something useful. When I say useful I want to leave it open because you would never know what I need. The clothes are primarily from the gap, old navy, lane bryant, torrid, macys and good for a young professional for work or for going out. I really want to move so I'm hoping to get rid of them asap. Shoot me a message and let's make a deal!

Dumb Questions About Jumping When Stuck

I've never heard of it but will have to try. Sometimes I just bend over at the waist.
  17. I won't be getting plastic surgery so I was wondering if there are any products out exist like "excess skin duct tape" that could be used to lift up skin. I'm particularly worried about a dance costume that I have to wear.

    Bariatric Buffet Pricing

I've never been a fan of buffets because I'm vegetarian. When we went to Vegas my friends didn't understand why I didn't want to pay $30 for some heavy buffet when i'd probably just end up eating salad. They've never been worth it for me, especially not now.

    Vegetarian And Lapband

You'll be fine, I made it to goal. Morningstar products will fill you up. Sometimes soft tofu is considered a slider food and you can eat a lot of it. Some indian veg dishes are also sliders but I still eat them too.

    Exercise For Flabby Arms?

I have flabby arms. Pretty much once the skin is stretched you can't really do anything to snap it back. Losing weight slowly may help but it's not guaranteed.

    Funny Weight Loss Moment!

This has happened to me, especially going up steps. Oh and I also raised my arm once and my bra lifted up because the back was too big.

    Realize Band

I have realize. I interviewed a doctor who said they're pretty much the same, it's just some doctors who learned the procedure with the lap band prefer lap band and those who learned using the realize band prefer the realize.
  25. I plan on going so if anyone wants to meet up let me know! I would've posted this in the regional section but it looked pretty quiet! http://worldswapday2...eventbrite.com/ We're celebrating World Swap Day on January 21, 2012. Join the DC Goodwill Fashionista at our Arlington Goodwill store location as we swap women's clothing, shoes and accessories. You'll have a chance to mix and mingle with other savvy Goodwill shoppers and spread a little "swaplove." We'll be offering $1 raffle tickets for some great prizes: Two Goodwill gift certificates, free admission to a future swap event by our friend DewdropDC, and an entire Rock Band set! The funds from raffle ticket sales will go directly to Goodwill of Greater Washington's job training and support programs. Our World Swap Day fun will proceed as follows: 10:30—11:30 a.m.: Arrive at Goodwill's second-floor space (Goodwill's Arlington Career Center), check in, and drop off at least five items to be swapped. 11:30 a.m.—noon: Meet your fellow Goodwill shoppers, have a snack, enter the raffle, and get ready to swap! (We'll give you a reusable tote bag to gather your goodies.) Noon—1 p.m.: Swap! Grab as many items as you can fit into your tote bag. Share amazing finds with other swappers. 2 p.m.: When we wrap up, any clothing left behind will be donated to Goodwill of Greater Washington just downstairs!
