Sassygirl06 got a reaction from NewMe87 in 24 Days Post Op- HELP!
Your sleeve is still swollen. I had a very hard time getting anything down for the first few weeks as well. Got buyer remorse bad! There are Protein Shots you can buy at Walmart. They have about 25 grams of Protein in them and its about 3 oz to drink. Make sure they are really cold....as the flavors kind of suck...fruit punch is the best one. Take a sip every few minutes till its gone. This will stop your muscle waisting till you can manage to get the shakes down. As for the Water. You can get a medicine cup from the pharmacy. They are about one ounce. Sometimes 2. Drink one of those down every 15 minutes. If they are 2 oz and you do this for a period of 8 hours a day...then you will have had the required Fluid. Fluids are so much more important at this point of your healing then food. Good luck girl! You will get through this! ((Hugs))

Sassygirl06 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Post-op Drain Tube
it is interesting how different the surgerys and surgeons can be. i didnt even have a drain. the doc wasnt even going to give me a leak test after the surgery but i requested one because i wanted to be certain there were no leaks because i live a good 3 hours away from the hospital. the doc kept me 2 days because of the distance and gave me the leak test apon request. no leak, and no complications. the big plus is that i only have four incision sites. 2 of them are only 1 mm, and 2 of them are 4 mm. they used steri strips to close so barely any scars left now. i feel really lucky! good luck to you on your upcoming surgery!

Sassygirl06 got a reaction from whitmac in Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
Same as a lot of people...wish I had done it sooner. I had a friend who was going to get the surgery at the same time as me....she decided to try to lose it on her own with one last serious diet...that was almost two years ago now. I of course had it and now weigh 170, she managed to lose 50 pounds on her own, but then gained it all back and is now well over 350 pounds. When I see her I just feel so sad for her. She doesn't like to hang out with me anymore. I think it's because when she sees me she thinks of what could have been for her.
There are plenty of people out there that regret this surgery...but there are even more out there that regret not having the surgery when they could have. Good luck on your journey, whatever you decide...it is only a choice that you can make for yourself.

Sassygirl06 got a reaction from Sleevyjazzy in Pizza, Popcorn, Brownies
it is very hard to avoid all of the foods that are "bad". the more that you say you "cant have" this or that the more you want that item. I was able to eat popcorn at about 2 months, and could eat about 1/2 slice of pizza about that time too, or if I just scraped off the top of the whole slice and eat that. as for brownies....they smell so great, and look so delicious, but still at 8 months out if I eat them I feel like crap...the sleeve doesnt like those sweets at all. my tummy starts talking to me and then I feel like throwing up.
if I want something I try a little bit to test the waters so to speak. I didnt do this to be on a diet for the rest of my life...i did it to be able to restrict what I eat so I can be healthy. I have been losing steadily and I feel at 8 months that I have lost more then I had expected to. I lost the same amount of weight that my 17 year old daughter weighs....I flippen lost a person! hehe
So basically my personal opinion is listen to your sleeve....it will tell you if you should have it or not
of course not until your doc clears you for a normal diet

I have gout too....if you stick to a low purien (not sure if I spelt that right) diet it will help with flare ups. avoid cured meats, like bacon and Jerky, especialy deli meats. avoid red meats and alcohol as well. I still have some of these things, in moderation, but I havent had any flare ups since I started limiting those sourses of protien. hope this helps!

same here...I will get the bloated feeling if I overeat. the one thing that isnt to bad is that if I do need to throw up at least there isnt any stomach acid in it, so it tastes the same going out as it did going in. you will get better at telling when you are full as you go along. now I know if I get the hiccups it is time to stop or I will feel very uncomfortable.
    good luck!

That was one of my nsv's.....being able to get on all of the amusement park rides. There were many rides I couldn't go on because of weight. I am a year and 7 months post op....and now I can ride everything! This too shall pass, soon you will be able to fit on anything you want. Sorry this happened to you...but it will be such a relief when you are able to not worry about if you can fit or not! good luck!
