  1. I have a really weird effect when I'm full, I've been on mashed foods for three days and when I pass the quarter cup mark my nose starts running and I sneeze. Very odd. anyone else have this weirdness?
  2. Anyone have any knowledge of ballpark Mexican prices for plastics such as lower body lift and arm lifts etc?
  3. Try swimming as an alternative. If the soles of your feet hurt like they are on fire when you first get out of bed in the morning it is likely plantar fasciitis. I have had bouts of it and wouldn't wish it on anyone, weight loss helps immensely as does trying to take it easy and stay off your feet until your soles heal up a while. My GP has tried me on various meds but they are mostly palliative and it is WL that really helps. Go and see your doctor. There are also various exercises that may help ( they do for some but didn't for me) . The first 30 lbs I took off made all the difference.
  4. Also try Monkey butt powder for chafing - excellent stuff.
  5. Add me on MFP - username Buzzyi

I am three weeks out and was cleared to submerge recently. I've been swimming (breaststroke) every day since for 30 minutes a day and loving it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I burn about 500 calories every time I swim and it is great for all sorts of muscles especially the dreaded batwings. I am not a gym person AT ALL but have occasionally been into jogging (couch to 5k) however here in the Middle East it is BLINDINGLY hot right now so I am thrilled I have been given the all clear to use a nearby pool at a friends apartment who is away for the summer. I am liking it so much I may even join a gym club somewhere in time, so I can use the pool. I plan to add 5 minutes a week to my swim until I reach an hour. Can't believe I just typed that, but I am. Goodness, is there a chance I may become an exercise junkie? LOL
  7. Meaningful words Mina. Thanks.
  8. Scallops are super soft (when cooked right) and my doc suggested them -YUM
  9. Double cream is thick, heavy cream, but you could substitute low fat cream too.
  10. If you google it, gas mark 5 is 375 degF. I meant to say "and oil" (as in grease, or butter the tin) but my iPad is tricky and typos abound.
  11. I have a very old friend who is a runner and health nut. He has always been lean. Whenever I have lost weight he has admitted he finds me hot which just made me furious. Just recently he was talking about a friend's Mom who lost a lot of weight with Lapland surgery. He was really disparaging and said she cheated and that he thought she had butchered herself for vanity's sake. I was appalled and argued with him that her circumstances were personal and who are we to judge. Needless to say he is someone I have NOT stayed friends with him and it is because of judgmental shallow people in my home town like him that have made me decide to keep my surgery to myself.
  12. Primary school Visual Arts teacher at an International School in the Middle East here!
  13. Something struck me today, I don't recall seeing any celebrities coming forward (or being "outed" LOL) as sleevers. Several have admitted to having the band or bypass but no VSGers that I know of .... Anyone know of any?
  14. I'd love the answer to this- I really want to try some sashimi when I'm onto soft foods.

    Great news! Well done!
  16. I'm baking this right now in preparation for my mushy foods phase which starts tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
  17. This is another version of this recipe that I found in a low carb cookbook. No processing necessary. Parmesan crisps A piece of good parmesan, (and a bit of cheddar too if you like). Parmesan is a great source of Protein so choose one which has a lot of it. Pinch of cayenne pepper. Thats it. 1. Preheat oven to 190 deg C or gas mark 5 Cover a baking sheet with bakingt parchment or those clever silicone non-stick sheets. 2. Coarsely grate the parmesan and/or cheddar. Add a pinch of cayenne if you like a bit of heat with your crunch. 3. Pile the cheese onto the baking sheet in little clusters. Obviously they are going to spread as they melt and so make sure to space them far apart. 4. Stick them in the oven and watch them like a hawk, they only take a few minutes. The idea is for the melted cheese to spread and go a little crispy. 5. Allow crisps to cool and peel off. If they're melted into one big sheet, break it apart. Depending on which type of cheese you use, and how much, plug into MFP or similar to find nutritional values.
  18. I kept my protein up with shakes, and isopure clear diluted half/half with crystal light. Then I made heaps of pureed low fat soups (using stuff like LF cream and yoghurt instead of high fat stuff) like Thai broccoli and cauliflower, cream of mushroom, cream of tomato, spiced pumpkin, split pea and ham. I also got into using the fage 0% yoghurt, good source of protein and can be made sweet or salty. Pureed avocado with lemon juice, garlic and ff mayo is good too! Using my fitness pal helps to track everything and keep carbs as low as possible, I just started using it, and it's brilliant.
  19. Hi, I'm almost 3 weeks out. My surgeon said no strenuous exercise that can jolt the body (such as ball sports, running etc) until I was onto solid foods (2 months out). He encourages walking, and I've been cleared for swimming and I've discovered on MFP that it burns more calories than jogging, who knew?
  20. Classic extra virgin olive oil and balsalmic vinegar dressing is still a winner in my book.Good fats, lovely taste. I had some with a little avocado recently, but it was a really small amount.
  21. Hi angie pang- well done you! Good luck in your journey. I'm at a similar weight as you, and you are one of the few on here who I see work in kg's too! Join our July sleevers thread or our fb group if you like- lots of us there for support! What kinds of protein shakes are available in Oz? I'm interested as I may visit a pal in Geelong sometime soon. I've been following an Australian girl on tumblr who has had an amazing VSG journey- her blog is really fascinating. Her tumblr name is treadmillionaire if you're interested. Welcome to the losers bench!
