cuteascanbelizzie got a reaction from qnz234 in AA Sleevers; where are you; what's your status??
Hey folks! Just a brief update. So I am halfway to the two week mark but I am beginning to struggle right now. My surgeon requires a 2 week liquid diet preop and 2 weeks post op. I had planned on trudging through while catching up on work and my favorite tv shows, however I had a death in my family. I'm not sure if this happens for you, but when someone dies in my family people bring food, lots of food. In the case of my family, people have brought something different delicious, delectable and devilishly bad for anyone. The funeral for my family member is Friday and there is a repast after the services. Arrrgggh! I'm ready to pick up a chicken drumstick and go for what I know. :banghead:
In my most recent post many of you asked about advice and I will say this to anybody what I am telling myself. THIS WILL SOON BE OVER! You will be able to eat later. Give yourself time to heal and your body time to rest. The chicken, ham, fish, green Beans, and mash potatoes will be there. You made a choice in order to make yourself healthy and going back to the hospital or making yourself sick is simply NOT an option. This journey is about loving yourself without using food rather learning healthy habits. I will say this though, black people have a habit of socializing around the table and right now I feel like I am separating myself because I am venting while everybody is partaking in the fresh fried fish and hush puppies. :confused5:
Thank you all for being my outlet!
Lastly, you can do this if I can. Honestly you can! :cornut:

So today I tried a new version of pizza. A low carb wheat tortilla topped with about 3/4 cup of mozzarella cheese, a cup of fresh spinach, a small Tomato sliced, half of a sliced chicken breast, a few sprinkles of McCormick salt free all-purpose seasoning. I put in the oven for about 5 minutes on 350 and then switched to broil for about 3. I must say it was delicious!

Ladies, I see that we have all discovered an extra perk to our weight loss when it comes to sex. I have a question though: how have you reacted to oral sex (giving)? If using a straw puts air into my stomach thus causing gas, won't oral sex do the same thing?

cuteascanbelizzie got a reaction from Shemy-away in Changes In Period Symptoms After Sleeve
You are not alone! I was your polar opposite when it came to my period prior to sugery. My gyn put me on a Mirena IUD just to get my very irregular period to stop. I had the IUDfor about 9 months prior to surgery and during that time my period was scarce. Since my sugery (11/21/11) my period has come every month and is coming almost like clockwork. All of my PMS symptoms are very different too. Before I would have the occasional backache or headache and maybe a good cry but now its like I'm a different person the week or two before. I feel almost everything associated with my cycle and I am very very moody. I think we have to adjust as our bodies are adjusting.
Prior to surgery my surgeon gave me suppositories in case I had nausea. You may want to ask about that or try a homeopathic remedy. I get nausea at certain smells too and that's without PMS and Aunt Flo. I'm sure the sensitivity of both your new physical changes and your period make this ten times worse. Hopefully things will get better as your body adjusts. Oh and I put a period tracker app on my phone that lets me track my symptoms and mood every day as well as tracking my cycle. That may help you get a handle on things before they start.

cuteascanbelizzie reacted to BunnyLove in Shrimp With Tomatoes, Garlic, Chives And Penne (Yes, You Can Have Pasta!)
Pasta is back on the menu! My husband wanted pasta and meatballs the other day, and I wanted more than just the meatballs. I found a package of high-protein/low-carb penne that fit the bill perfectly. This pasta is available as spaghetti, macaroni and more, and even though it's more expensive than regular pasta, you can't eat much when you're sleeved so it evens out.
I've begun to use this now for tuna salad, macaroni and cheese, egg salad, etc. The recipe below is one my husband and I both enjoyed. It's very low in fat and carbohydrates, and has over 28 grams of Protein with the pasta I used. Serve with a side salad and it's a whole meal.
Shrimp with Tomatoes, Garlic, Chives and Penne
Makes 3 full servings or 6-8 sleeve servings
    3 oz. dry penne
    18 raw shrimp
    1 can stewed tomatoes, drained
    1 T minced garlic
    3 T chopped chives
    1 T olive oil
    1 t dried oregano
    1 T fresh parsley
    1 t cayenne (optional)
    salt and pepper to taste
    Cook penne per package directions.
Clean shrimp and split them down the middle. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a large pan over medium flame. Add the tomatoes and spices and cook until heated through. Add shrimp and cook just until it's pink and thoroughly opaque.
Toss pasta and shrimp, and serve.

Thank you SO much for the food porn. My family thinks I am torturing myself by watching the Cooking channel and Food Network but I love food. I just can't eat the way I used and I'm definitely ok with that. I'm one month out and know that my sleeve is still sensitive so I will take it easy before tasting my favorite food again. Happy eating with your sleeves!

cuteascanbelizzie reacted to Liliana Arleen in Vent About My Gastric Sleeve Post Op Recovery Process ,i Need Some Help
Ok so I really need to VENT all this out. Today is my 11 day post and I am feeling terrible, emotionally and physically. I am so tired of this liquid diet . My surgeon's plan is 2 weeks pre op of full liquids diet, the day prior surgery I was on Clear Liquids and post surgery 2 weeks more of full liquids and after my 2 week check which is this December 9, I can start my purees. I am not drinking enough fluids I am doing horrible with my Protein and my Water. I tried but I get tired of drinking the same stuff over and over. I am trying different Protein Shakes to see if that helps but I get tired of them easily. I am feeling weak with no energy . I get really sad because this whole liquid diet makes me sick. I want to try something in puree but I need to wait till my 2 weeks check. I know is very important to follow my surgeon's instruction because I don't want to be back in the hospital due to an infection in my staple line or whatever. But I am seriously really tired of having broths ,jello etc I tried to make them in different ways, bought them. I been VERY strong on cooking for my husband and 2 year old regular foods and not even thinking of try the regular food. I KNOW this is all in my head. I really NEED some support and help now. I am scared I won't do good with my sleeve :frown5: :frown5: :frown5: :frown2:
