A Slow Loss Is Still A Loss ;)

I am right there with you! It seems like the scale is moving slowly but look at how much smaller your clothing is already. I really realize it when I am folding laundry. You have made fantastic progress and you look great. I was sleeved 2 days before you and our numbers are pretty much the same. I have those really snug 12's hanging in the closet and I know I will be in them in a couple more weeks.
  2. Congrats! The personal milestones make it more real.

I met with the one's at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. I haven't looked for one outside of there.

    Anyone with UHC and JPMC?

Congratulations! I just bought size 14 jeans too. I was really happy because I didn't really think they would fit yet. Helped cheer me up a bit.
  5. That was my first major goal. I hoped to reach it by Christmas and I did last week. Between that and going down another size in pants, it has been a great week. I still wish the scale would move a bit faster but there is only so much I can do to. My body is going to lose at its own pace. I look in the mirror and am amazed at the difference in my face. Now if only my hair would stop falling out. I swear I am going to be bald soon.

    NSV shout outs

I take my NSV's when ever I can since the scale moves so slowly for me. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to purchase size 14 jeans last week. Not 14W, but regular Levi's 14's (I swear Levi's run just a tad bit smaller than other brands) I even bought a pair of skinny jeans. The smile was plastered on my face. I have donated all of my old clothes, 2X tops and pants that were 20-22's. My closet is so empty and so is my dresser. The 16's I bought 2 months ago are going to a friend next week. I can't remember the last time I wore a Large anything.

    Metabolism- Eating 3x A Day Or 6x A Day?

I wasn't getting enough calories in with 3 meals per day. I went to 4 after talking with my surgeons office. They agreed I needed more calories or my body was going to stay in starvation mode. Even with 4 meals a day it is still hard to get 1000 calories a day.
  8. I've was sleeved on 9/12 and I've lost a total of 56.4 pounds including pre-op.

Is My Weight Loss Too Slow?

I am just a bit ahead of where you are in the weight loss department. I was sleeved on 9/12. As of today I am down 56.4 pounds from the start of my journey in January. Since I started my pre-op diet I am down 41 pounds. The last 2 weeks I have started to see the weight come off faster now that I am trying to increase my calorie consumption. I was eating 3 meals a day, focusing on lean protein and only averaging about 600 calories a day and my body was in starvation mode and holding on to everything it could which meant my weight loss was SLOW! I mean 1-2 pounds a week if I was lucky. I am trying to get 1000 calories a day, eating four meals, spreading out my protein more so I can eat other foods as well. Amazingly, it is working. I can't exercise too much because it just defeats my extra calorie intake. It is hard for me to get in the extra calories but I am working on it.
  10. I was an 8W and am not a 7.5M which I was after my first daughter was born and I was much thinner. Hopefully my foot won't get much smaller but I love the fact I can wear all the cute trendy shoes now since most of them didn't come in a wide width.

    Slow weight loss

I am in my early 40's and 8 weeks post-op tomorrow. I am really struggling mentally with that damn scale. It it moving at a turtles pace. I can rationalize it in my head all day long but that really doesn't help. I am trying to stay positive and be happy with 2-3 pounds a week on average. I try to look at the way clothing fits, actually size I now wear. I was a solid 20 before surgery and I am not a solid 16. To be able to buy non-plus sized clothing is a major pick-me-up for me. I still wish the scale would move faster. I have lost about 25 pounds since surgery and about 50 since I have started this journey with my 6 month supervised diet. The weight is coming off and the inches are melting away. It is just going to take me longer to meet my goals...unfortunately.

    3rd week and stalle

I am finally getting out of that stall. It started at three weeks and I only lost about a pound a week for over 2 weeks. Just this past week the scale has started moving again. Thanks to everyone here I realize how normal that was. What got me through it was taking my measurements instead. I was still losing inches even though the scales wasn't budging. And my clothes were getting bigger. During the stall I had to get new jeans because my old "skinny" ones were way too big. Hang in there. The scale will start moving again.
  14. In all my documentation from my surgeon and nutritionist, it only talks about getting 60-70 grams of Protein a day. Over all caloric intake is not discussed anywhere. I am in the dreaded week three stall and am trying really hard not to let it go to my head. Really struggling with this so I am trying to focus on other things. I know I can pretty much get the protein in but don't know if I'm actually getting enough calories. Any one know what the total fat grams per day target should be? I see carbs should 50 grams or less. What about sugar? I try to avoid it over all but sometimes it can't be avoided. Thanks for your help. This site is a very valuable tool.

    JEWELRY DURING SURGERY

I was able to keep my nose piece in. I signed a form saying I knew the risks, which by the way are almost non existent. With surgical stainless steel or titanium piece there is really little risk at all. The excuse of interfering with equipment is like sayiny anyone with a knee of hip replacement or any thing else like that will interfere with all future surgeries. There is a minimal risk the cautery could jump to the metal but very unlikely. My surgical nurse and anestesiologist both rolled their eyes at me having to sign the form. Oh I was also able to keep a couple fresher cartilage piercings when I have my hysterectomy done several years ago.
