Hey all, I just read about stalls and how to fool your body out of one. It's called Carb Cycling and it's the technique used by Chris Powell on the Biggest Loser. Makes sense to me. Basically, you do low carbs one day and high carbs the next day. It's all explained in his book "Choose to Lose: The 7-Day Carb Cycle Solution," which you can read about on his website. http://chrispowell.com/carb-cycling-the-classic-cycle/

Canary - I'm no expert, but I heard the main reason is with liquids you will not experience the feeling of fullness. Liquids make the food go down easier, you will not get the fullness feeling, and you can eat more. This is how to gain weight after you've been sleeved.

Can't wait! And, for me, it couldn't be more timely for my upcoming August surgery!
-
Thanks, Isereno. I look forward to checking them all out. I do have a lot of information, both from my surgeon and compiled from the boards for 2 - 1/2 years. I have a huge amount of info, so if there's every anything you're missing, let me know. I'm getting sleeved in August, either the 23rd or 26th.

Great title! I'm a professional writer so I always can appreciater "a few good words."
Guys are so weird so I can only advise 2 things: 1) Stop playing games and call him, or 2) Ditch the tender immature ego and find a real man who is mature.
Course, what do I know. Never been married. I finally feel I know enough now to act like a grown up in a relationship. Maybe after I drop couple hundred pounds and have a makeover, I'll start looking again.

Great story. I wonder what you really weigh. I'm super morbidly obese at nearly 400 lbs. But I remember when I was 30 and weighed 125. Next time I weighed myself I had gained 5 pounds and I thot my life was over. I was so self conscious of how I looked, especially in shorts.
Ha! I'd give one of my legs to weigh "that much" now. I'd give money, but I don't have any. ha ha
Yes, you'll get that girl figure back. Hopefully, your daughter will have a change of mindset and realize how cute she is now. Good luck!

Sweetie,
I am so sorry you're dealing with jerks. If you haven't paid cash, now is the time to get away from them. In fact, even if you have paid cash, I'd still switch doctors. You can get out from whatever hold they have over you. You can threaten to report them to the Medical Board of your state. Post online about them, every chance you get. Whatever you can think of ... including suing. That's what I'd threaten them with if they don't reimburse you.
After all, you're kinda like a girl who's just gotten engaged ... all excited about the event ... can't wait for it to happen ... doing everything you can out of sheer joy. And then ... wham! ... they hit you with their nasty selves. Sad to say that bariatric surgery is a money business and once they get you in the door, you're dust.
But it doesn't have to be that way. There are many wonderful, supportive doctors out there. You can check on this site for other doctors in your area. If you do decide to switch ... which I highly recommend ... do your homework before you pick a new doctor. Check all the sites, including lap band and gastric bypass, to see what others think about their doctor. This step is vital if you want to have a good experience.
Good luck, sweetie!

Carol,
I'm sorry you didn't like the Quest bars. Did you get a sample pack or just one flavor?
I started out with the sample pack. I only really liked a couple, but that's OK. I would be happy to have 3 flavors to choose from. So #1 is Vanilla Almond, #2 is Mixed Berry Bliss and #3 is their new Peanut Butter Bars (like Reese's Cups).
If no one else takes you up on your offer, send them to me!!
I eat one bar a day, usually in late afternoon or late evening. Like you, I don't have boo coo bucks, so that's all I can afford. What's really great about Quest is that not only do you get 20g of protein, you also get 20g of fiber, which is what keeps your appetite away. Plus they are soooo healthy at only 1g of sugar and 5 carbs.
I have heard others say to heat them in Microwave first. But I love them any which way. To others: try them out. Buy from GNC or online at Amazon.

Not well said. I just joined and aready I am sick of hearing you rant. You ought to start a group called Ranters. That way you can get a whole bunch of people ranting back and forth. Heck, they'll probably even agree with you.
Ugh!

Counseling can be a real boon to a relationship, when both parties commit to examination and change. I'm sad to hear your wife has changed her attitude and reaction to you. I'm sure the reasons are complicated and doubt either one of you can figure it out. This is where counseling comes in.
The fact that she's eating ice cream and consuming things that may be bad for her, is a definite sign that something is wrong with ... her. She probably wants you to join in so she'll feel less guilty. After all, if you were eating ice cream, maybe you'd be heavier and she'd be happier.
I once dated a guy 10 years younger than me. It wasn't a big deal for me, so I didn't come up right away. When it did, though, he told me the same thing. We broke up a short time later ... not because of that, but it was telling.
