  1. Geez I hope so! My goal is 170lbs which I haven't been near since high school. LOL
  2. Well I just thought I would check in. I had my surgery on Oct 20th with Dr Weiss in Lexington Ky. The day of surgery I was 277lbs this morning I was 248lbs and I'm 5'9", that's a loss of 29lbs in a month! Woot woot! Since the beginning of this year I'm down 67lbs! I'm almost halfway there! Best of all one year ago my total cholesterol was 221 and my lipids were 214 now my total is down to 139 and my lipids are 89! I am lovin my sleeve!
  3. I feel you pain. I was sleeved Oct 20th of this year. I felt yucky for about a week and a half and I slept on the recliners during that time it just helped. I used a heating pad on my shoulders for the gas pain as well as walk, walk, walk, and try to keep sipping on something. I'm out four weeks and down 27lbs I felt the same way the first week but now im 100% better, back to work and all. Now I would do it again tomorrow if I had too. Take your pain meds if you need them and keep sipping. Smiles!!!
  4. I also have choice plus and I had to do a six month supervised diet which I began in January of this year. I had a little hang up over the Psyc exam because of a stupid dr which cost me about two months but I was sleeved october 20th. My highest was 315 currently at 256. I've lost nearly 20 lbs in the three weeks since surgery and the wait was worth it. Good luck!
  5. I am three weeks out and I haven't had any hair loss. I was told by my surgeon that as long as you got your protein in you wouldn't have any hair loss. It's normal to be anxious, scared and excited but even at three weeks out I am glad I did it.
  6. Thanks guys! I'm trying and I see the dr on Tuesday hopefully I'll get the green light for soft foods and I won't feel so bad.
  7. Ok so I am about a week and a half out my family has never been the cooking type they always go out to dinner. At first I was doing good cause I was on clear liquids so I was just staying home but now that I'm on to full liquids I can have soups, so I have ventured out a time or two and I find myself wanting all the food that they have and I am not even hungery! I think part of me is worried that I can't ever eat that again but I know that isn't true. I found myself in tears tonight because I couldn't eat long john silvers and I wasn't hungery! It just smelled so good! You would think I would be happy I've lost 13lbs since my surgery nine days ago!
  8. Now I am only a week out myself so maybe some veteran sleevers can chime in...but I get pretty bad cramps/ pains if I drink something to fast or if I take to big of drinks. Try taking a sip about every two min and see if that dosent help.
  9. HaHa I am one week out today so I can have soup. Prior to surgery I was very used to eating with the largest spoon in our silverware set. Now I am trying to learn how to take smaller bites so I have bought baby spoons. My family went to O Charleys tonight and I got a cup of soup which I didn't eat half of. I of course took my baby spoon to eat with and I defintantly got some strange looks from the people sitting around me while I was using my puple baby spoon!
  10. I am one week out and trust me I have been tempted but I don't want to fail I spent way to much money on this! The pain in your chest is from either eating to big a bite or eating to fast. At one week out I am on a full liquid diet. So soup SF pudding, SF jello, broth (which I'm sick of), SF hot chocolate, SF popcicles, SF fudgecicles, and yogurt. Get rid of the junk and get back to the basics. Good Luck!
  11. Hi Kendall Ann! I think we may have started at about the same. My highest was 315 bmi 43, before surgery I was at 277 today I was 267 and I'm 5'9" my goal is about 170. My surgery was oct 20, 2011. I also have uhc I didnt have any problems with getting approved after I met all their requirements. I was approved in about a week. If you are dying to know you can call the insurance company and ask about the status of your approval that's what I did and I knew before the surgeon's office. Congrats and I'll save you a space on the looser's bench!
  12. Glad to know I'm not the only one. The recliner is where I am tonight, it is much easier to get out of than my bed.
  13. I guess the staples just stay or maybe they dissolve over time.... I never thought to ask .
  14. Ok so I had surgery on the 20th of this month and they also did a hernia repair, and i was so happy to come home and sleep in my own bed, but I can't. I can't get comfortable on either side all I can do is lay on my back. It hurts all the way up through my shoulders is that just gas caused I've been walking. I know I'm only a few days out but am I being a wimp? Even when I try drinking something it feels like there is gas trying to come up at the same time. Any advice?
  15. I use viactic it's chewy and tastes like chocolate so I feel like I'm getting a treat!
  16. My nut said vitron it's 65 mg so you would need two I usually find it at Rite Aid or Walgreens. Good luck.
  17. Surgery is scheduled for 12:30 today and I'm so nervous and scared, and I'm not sure why. This is something I've been working towards for a year and it's been all I could think about and now that it's here I'm like ok do I really want to do this? Some words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
  18. For my Pre op diet I used the Adkins shakes they are Pre made so you can just grab one, They only have 6g of carbs, I get them at walmart or a grocery store usually near the vitamins. They really are not bad I am particular to the chocolates. For clear protein I have ordered some mix able type drinks from Baratric Choice the drinks are called Proti. The website has tons of stuff just have a look around. Good luck with everything! Smiles!
  19. Good luck to you too! See you on the looser's bench!
  20. So I've been doing the pre-op diet for about the past two weeks and tomorrow I go to sign all the consents and have the pre sugery blood work done and then thursday is the day but not till 12:30pm. When I started this process over a year ago I never thought I would eventually make it here. I feel very lucky to have insurance that will pay their part and a 401K plan that I can borrow against.
  21. My surgery is also next week Thursday in fact. Don't worry about everybody else! If you are anything like me you've spent your entire life worring about what everyone else thinks. This time I have decided that this is for me and I don't care what they think or say, so don't let them get you down. Just keep focused on the goal, and your friends if they are true friends will come around in time they are probably just scared for you. Good Luck next week! Smiles!
  22. Sounds silly but my dr recommend trying some baby food at that stage, and it's easier than making it all yourself.
  23. Don't take your iron with your calcium it competes for absorption, you need to take the iron at a different tome of the day and take it with a vitamin c it will help your body absorb the iron. Smiles!
  24. I have been drinking the Adkins shakes they only have 6 g of carbs and they are not too bad but chocolate is getting boring! I guess I'll be seeing you in the 20 th!
  25. I am 5' 9" at my highest was 315lbs. My goal is 175. Currently Im at 280.
