  1. Ok I'm almost three weeks out and I am getting the hiccups all the time! I get them after I eat (10-20 min) after I take a drink even when I wake up in the morning! Anyone else have this problem and if so do you know why?

Looking For A Friend/mentor In Kentucky

Hey everyone! I was sleeved by dr Weiss in October of last year and I also live in Lexington.
  3. 90% at almost a year out... But that is with my ideal weight being at 150 which I think is way to thin for someone my height.

    Complications!?!

Yeah I can... I had the same types of things happen to me... I figured out that I had become lactose intolerant, so any protein drinks I mixed with milk made me sick as could be. The same went for the Greek yogurt I was eating in the morning as well. Maybe try quiting milk products for a day and see how that does. Good luck.
  5. Ok I have a question I never thought I'd ask.... Has anyone else felt like the weight loss isn't gonna stop? I met my goal months ago and I'll be a year out next month but all of a sudden I'm loosing again? I don't want to lose anymore I'm already 5lbs below my goal and I eat all the time! Seriously I'm eating every two hours because I just get hungry that fast... Has anyone else felt this way or am I alone out here?
  6. I had mirena put in three months after my surgery and I haven't had any issues... It did not slow my weight loss at all. I'm almost a year out and down almost 150lbs.
  7. Sure... I am 5'9" I currently weight 166... My goal was at the top of my normal range at 170. I started this journey at 315lbs, so I've lost almost 150lbs in less than 1 year.
  8. I do not drink anything carbonated at all. I stick to water and unsweetened tea. The surgery made me lactose intolerant so anything with milk is out. I still get sick alot and mainly breakfast food seems to do it. I eat alot of steak and chicken as my main meals and I stick to the protein first rule. I do not drink with my meals I wait at least half an hour or it also tends to make me sick, I do not do protein drinks anymore... Yuk! As for snacking I stick to things like granola bars .
  9. No that's not it my docs have kept great track of my thyroid and it's right where it should be.
  10. Highest weight 315... Day of surgery 285... Today 168! Two pounds below goal... That's a total loss of 147lbs... My one year is October 20...
  11. Hi! I'm from Lexington.... Dr. Weiss did my surgery in October of 2011.

    Getting Pissed Off!

Ok... Stop and take a breath... How far out are you? I was pretty upset when I was about 2 weeks out as I had gone out to eat with my family and was still on liquids. It was a stupid idea and I cried through most of dinner. Now I go out to eat with my family every weekend I always order a kids meal of like steak or grilled chicken. I normally can not finish the whole thing. As for your full feeling try and eat slow and chew really well... I actual will hiccup and that's how I know I'm full but it didn't start happening till I was a little farther out... Maybe a month or two. I am 8 months out and I eat pretty much anything I want at this point. I am in my goal range and I have lost 100lbs since my sleeve in October 140lbs all together. I felt the same way in the beginning about how little I could eat, but I wouldn't change anything now. Good luck and you will be able to eat a bit more as the swelling goes down. Smiles!

    Eating Beef?

I can't tell you what to do but.... My diet said I could have ground beef at 36 days out, so to me this ment steak.... I just chewed it forever! Like 60-70 times for each little bite hence ground beef...and it was a much welcome change from chicken. I had no problem with the steak it didn't bother me at all. Good Luck!
  15. I'm pretty close.... 5'8" HW 315 SW 277 CW 188 GW 170 I had surgery October 20th 2011. Amanda

    Questions For Those Before Me!

Hi I'm almost 6 months out and down 85lbs. I think surgery was about two hours but I had a hernia repair as well. I pretty much slept in the recovery room but I was pretty with it once I made it to my room. I think I stayed in recovery about two hours. I was walking the halls not long after I made it too my room. I'd say by about a half hour or so after I was there and settled I was walking. I didn't have PCOS so I can't help you with that one... Sorry. Pain.....I didn't really think it was all that bad but my nurses were great with my meds. When I got home I found it really hard to sleep in bed so I slept in the recliner for about two weeks. Id say the most pain I had once home was when I'd go to the bathroom..., getting up and down when your tummy was sore was hard but I was sent home with pain meds and felt much better by two weeks out. I went back to work at three weeks out. Good Luck it really is not as bad as you think it is going to be. Amanda
  19. Ok so when I started I was 315lbs....I am now down to 198lbs with 28lbs to go till I make my goal and I am 5' 9". Some of my latest NSV's are.... Some of my old shoes fit again... Some of my old clothes from High School fit again... The bath towel goes all the way around me... My lab coat at work has gone from a 3X to a M... I can cross my legs so easily now... I can wear clothes in the juniors department... I can wear things from Victoria's Secret.... Goodbye Lane Bryant and Avenue..... Some of my struggles are..... Getting 70g of protein a day it is more like 50-60g... Drinking enough water... Dying for a coke from Mcdonalds... I cant' see the weight loss in myself/ mirror... (This is my big one) I still feel larger than everyone around me... Thanks for reading..... Amanda
  20. I know exactly how you feel. I could easily max out a credit card...but I need to wait as I'm still losing. Congrats on your weight loss and have fun shopping!!!!
  21. I really want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments! It really makes a girl feel good. For those of you getting closer to your sleeve dates... I was totally nervous too but it was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made and I would do it again tomorrow and if I can do it you guys can too, just stick to your Dr's diet plan and try your best to drink as much water as possible the first few days home from the hospital and don't let the stalls get you down they happen to everybody. Good luck everyone and I can't wait to see your pics soon as well! Amanda
  22. @Wheetsin... I do still use one protein shot 27g a day it was reccomended by my dr. I can't stand all the shakes and stuff. I assume I'll continue to do this until I make it to goal and need to readjust things. The goal weight I picked is actually still in the overweight category for my height but I don't care. I was 173 before I had my son almost 11 years ago and much less than that and I'll look sick. I'm sure I'll see the difference in time... I had a realization today... My work is ordering everyone really nice pullover shirts with the company logo on them and my best friend and I ordered the same size and I was like huh it took me a minute to process that one. Is your surgery scheduled yet?
