You should be so proud of yourself! Yes, 250 pounds is daunting number- but remember you have support and people cheering for you! I had a total of 150 to lose and get sort of jealous when I see people who "only" had 90 pounds to lose. But we're all in this together and you will do great!

Sometimes I make shrimp and mix it with some of the steam in bag asian veggies. Closest thing to Chinese food I had until about 6 months out. I also like to marinate shrimp in different flavors and just eat them that way.
I love salmon in a brown sugar/soy sauce marinade, or with avocado crushed up and salted on top. Flatout pizzas are good and I love ANY kind of cheese these days. Sometimes I still have a hard time with chicken and scrambled eggs- but then I end up eating less which makes me feel a bit better. At 8 months out I'm able to eat considerably more than I could when I was fresh.

Hi all, December 5, 2011 here with Dr. Kaul at Westchester Medical Center in NY. I only have to do a two day pre-surgery liquid diet as they've had me doing low carb high Protein that has produced enough weight loss results.

Surely you are someone outside of your surgery and struggles with our weight. You have interests and dislikes and families- jobs and hobbies. And honestly- yes it is exciting to have this stool and to be on the journey- but hasn't there been enough focus all our lives on just our weight?
I know VST is dedicated to our VSG stories, but I sort of think that who we are makes our VSG surgeries that much more meaningful.
    So I'll go first...
I'm Danielle. I'm 27 and I have three sisters and one nephew. I am unmarried and have no children. I work full time running the office for a respiratory company. This semester I am also attending college full time via online classes. I'm now also trying to squeeze in going to the gym three times a week.
I suffer from PCOS and had this surgery to help increase my chances of having a family of my own one day.
I am a TOTAL girly girl! I love the color pink, I like Hello Kitty the way others like Betty Boop or Tinkerbell, and I HATE HATE HATE spiders! I'm not much of an outdoorsie person- my idea of roughing it is five girls and one bathroom. That being said I do love to garden and can't wait for spring.
I love anything to do with 16th century european history and am a total fanatical nut when it comes to Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I. My favorite movie and book of allllllllll time is Gone With the Wind. I love watching old movies with my mom- our favorites are Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, anything with Doris Day and the Tammy movies. We also make a point of watching A League of Their Own together whenever it is on tv. I'm close with my Dad but sometimes I feel like we don't have anything in common.
Prior to surgery I loved home cooked food! (Along with chinese and pizza hut haha) I still enjoy cooking for my family (One sister, my parents and I all live together for economic reasons) and resumed cooking them meals within a few days of coming home from the hospital. I have a dog, she is a chihuahua/yorkie mix. Her name is Gypsy and well... she is sort of a monster!! I <3 her tho!
Now it's your turn!! Tell us who you are!

I'm gonna weigh in here as a SOMEWHAT professional. And by professional I mean I studied skin in beauty school and worked for years doing said wraps and scrubs.
For the most part, time is your best bet with loose skin. It is what it is. Avoiding tanning will help with the appearance of aged skin (which is loose skin) in the years to come- that's just common sense.
The wraps/massages/scrubs all accomplish the same thing. They stimulate blood flow which in turn allows things to heal better/faster. And really- loose skin is sort of just skin that needs to heal. Some things heal better than others.
Remember all those skinned knees as a kid? How many scars do you have from it? How many faded away? Your skin healed OVER TIME!
These suggestions have worth. The one I think I disagree with the collagen lotions. A lotion may moisturize but it's temporary. Things that will really nourish and strengthen hair, skin, and nails are nutritious foods and lots of Water.

I find myself asking the same questions sometimes. Only unlike you prior to surgery I didn't have a bf or kids. I still have no kids, but I have met and gotten engaged to the most wonderful man, so he fills a lot of my time now.
I also go to school part time (although with taking 3 classes it might as well be full time it feels). I still haven't figured out a major exactly, but it's either going to be something with english or nutrition.
Find time to do something for yourself. Do something small maybe like get a pedicure every two weeks or go for a walk.. Take pictures of the beautiful fall scenery. Do something for YOU!
And congratulations on all you have accomplished!

I can totally relate to this issue. I can say that as I lost weight I gained the confidence to start dating again. And who did I end up meeting and clicking with? A darn-it-all chef. He figured it out before I actually came right out and said I had surgery. He has been totally supportive and tries to find creative ways to cook foods I can eat. He has asked some questions about the future. ie. how will this surgery effect my ability to have a healthy pregnancy. We've talked it over and he understands everything and has become my best friend. Almost three weeks ago he got down on one knee. You can successfully meet someone who will love you for you and not care about your surgery. You will have to be comfortable answering their questions because if you have a future with that person they are going to want to know how it will effect the future.... Especially if he wants to have kids with you. But, I'd just enjoy dating and take it as it comes. Don't lie about your surgery- remember that up until the decision to get married or start a family it is probably the best decision you have made. Embrace it!

Hey all. I was sleeved 12/5/11. I've lost a 114 pounds so far. Things have slowed down for me a lot lately too, but I know it'll happen! I've gone from size 22 jeans to my 12s getting to be a bit bigger. I too have a hard time with regular Water, but I love Propel. I still struggle with getting in enough fluids too. And I find myself wanting to snack a bit here and there. I've given into it too much lately and the fact that I started dating a chef doesn't help much either. At least what he makes is fresh ingredients and usually healthier options.
So glad you are all doing well!
    Keep it up!

Of course over the last year I know I've lost a lot of weight. I've watched the scale go down and I've had to replace clothes more often then I care to think about ($$$$)... But it took doing this collage to realize that I am living my dream! I am happy and healthier than I have ever been. I'm marrying the man of my dreams and family members I dearly care about have decided to seek surgical options for weight loss after watching my struggles and finanlly my success.
