  1. It would be best to talk to your doctor as to how to counter the iron supplements. So far if the miralax is working I would keep on it. So as not to have any more problems. Hopefully you find a happy medium as constipation is really not fun.
  2. I have had the shirataki noodles and yah they are kind of like rubber and if you do not wash them really well they will have a off putting odor. I could not stand them due to the texture. Glad I only bought a small package to try at first. I for one will not buy them again.
  3. SN.................starting wt.............current..............goal....................lbs to goal Autumnlily..........297.2.....................269.2............270.......................-0.8 I made my goal by June 30 by a couple of lbs. Lucky I went over as TOM just popped by and bounced me up a bit. But I still made my goal. I can not wait for the next challenge.
  4. Iron pills are notorious for causing constipation. How long have you been on the iron? I wonder if increasing your water with all the fibre you are taking to help "soften" the stool. Have you tried MIralax? It is now being touted as the #1 physician recommended over the counter stool softener, and that they are saying it can be used on a long term basis. The main ingredient polyethelyne glycol helps attract water back into your intestines to "soften" the stool. Hope you find the relief you are looking for.
  5. Yes everyone has a different outcome to the pain. I had no gas pain, no incision pain other than a tug here and there and only took one of the painkillers I was given to take home on the plane as a precaution (really did not need it). For the food I would recommend you stick to your doctors prescribed food plan. I know the thin liquids are boring and you feel like you will never get away from them. I will tell you once you are on to mushies and then incorporating solids the clear liquid stage will be but a distant memory. You do want to protect your healing staple like and putting bits of food in there too early could lead to a complication. It may not but it is better to be safe than sorry. I plead with you please please please stick to your doctors recommended food plan.
  6. Just a FYI if it says unflavoured it means that it is not chocolate or strawberry(etc) but there is still a different taste that is noticable.
  7. I wonder the same thing now about my fat cocoon. I am still a ways away from having doors held open and men checking me out. But I have always wondered when I started to really put on the pounds is when I wanted to get away from people.
  8. Thank you for the apology. Mistakes can happen and will for everyone. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend.
  9. Congratulations!!!! I too am impressed with your accomplishment.
  10. It is a wonderful feeling. Congratulation on your success! Keep on rocking the sleeve.
  11. If you saw whom I replied that message to you would have seen it was not you and someone who was trying to negate my information I was providing. Yes you have every right to tell your information as do I and not to have someone give false information that would negate my information.
  12. Glad you were able to come to you decision that you are comfortable with. As the only opinion that matters to you is yours. Keep us posted on your journey.
  13. My pre-op weight loss was 16 lbs in a little over a week (started my pre-op a bit early). Some pre-ops require a liquid diet ranging from 1 to 3 weeks. I however was on a low carb, increased (healthy) protein for one week.
  14. Thank you for correcting the information.
  15. Its one of those reminders that your tummy and intestines have all the control now Hope you are feeling better.
  16. Could you please talk about your own experiences only. This is not a site for idle gossip or hearsay. I was informed from the doctors office themselves that they have not had any leaks. If you do not know the information first hand it would be appreciated if you did not gossip from the information you may have heard from others.
  17. Plus I hear they are disgusting in taste. Expired means they may not provide the same nutritional information that is on the package. As things degrade over time. So the protein (which is the wrong protein) may be breaking down.
  18. I choose Dr Aceves due to his zero leak complication rate. I did not want to fly back to Canada and then find out I had a leak and begin a long process here of trying to fix it. Another smaller factor was staying in a hospital the entire time (minus the first night at the hotel because surgery is the next day). I felt the paying the extra money was worth it to me. FYI you fly into San Diego also for Dr. Aceves so that should not affect your flights. Just your deposit if you so choose to change your mind.
  19. I eat the full fat as I feel we are eating much smaller portions now. They help with boosting the calories and it tastes better than non-fat. Also I have noticed that as the fat content goes down the carb content goes up so you are just trading one for the other. My vote is going for taste!
  20. I have a major nickle allergy. I can not wear ANY jewlery on my ears, neck, wrists or fingers or I swell up and itch. I have not had any problems with my staples. You should be fine with the medical grade staples.
  21. Have you tried Frank's Red Hot sauce? Mmmm I just love the mild heat and tangy flavour it adds to the chicken. I bake it in the sauce and then have more on the side to dip my chicken into. For a side dish have you cooked cauliflower and then pureed it into a pseudo mashed potatoe?
  22. All these are good but dairy is a full liquid and not a clear liquid. I had sugar free popsicles, jello, broth, decaf tea, water. When I moved to full liquids then I had cream Soups and milk, thin yoghurt.
  23. SN..................starting wt...............current.................goal.................lbs to goal Autumnlily........297.2.......................271.6.................270....................1.6 I am pretty sure I will make this goal by the 1st of July let alone the 4th of July.
  24. I went to Mexicali on my own and felt safe to walk the streets. There is another member who's mother said what do you want me to do with your body when you die in Mexico. Of course the member made it back safe and sound and is at goal and living life to the fullest. I am sure Dr. Kelly patients will fill you in on how safe they felt.
  25. The sleeve was the only choice for me. And as you see I am 4 months out and down 80 lbs. I am aiming to lose over 100 lbs for the 6 month surgiversary (and I know I will make it). It all boils down to what do YOU feel most comfortable with. Just know that you can revise from the sleeve to the DS, but you can not change from the DS to the the sleeve.
