  1. At 3 months I had lost 64 lbs (including my one week pre op weight loss 16 lbs). And 48 lbs since my surgery day. I am at 3.5 months right now and am down another 10 lbs hoping to lose another 10 lbs in the next 2 weeks.
  2. I really enjoyed mashed potatoes and I mixed in cottage cheese and sprinkle salt and pepper on top. Can you do omelettes with shredded cheese? refried Beans with shredded cheese (do you see a theme here I like cheese). Is ground beef/turkey considered a mushie or a soft food? I truly can not remember what stage I had it in but I did up with mexican flavour, guacamole and little refried been. Can you tolerate milk? You could do a glass of milk and throw in a scoop of milk powder to up the Protein. I know I enjoyed licking a spoon of Peanut Butter it was amazing. Tuna with mayo AND dill pickle relish. Eggfaces mini bites. I now make my own versions since I know the basic premise. Once you are out of this stage it gets better. I know I became very bored with this stage as well.
  3. Each doctor can perform the sleeve differently. With different sizes and capacities for the outcome. And with the varying out come of the "size" or capacity of sleeves out there you will also see varying post op diets. It is best to follow what your doctor has prescribed for the best outcome for your sleeve. It is ok to stay in a lower stage but to rush the other stages has the possibility of leading to a complication.
  4. Congratulations!!! You are almost to goal!
  5. This was 14 days Post operation???? Are you trying to burst your stomach? Your nerves have been cut and you will not feel restriction for awhile due to the nerves healing. Maybe you should google sepsis (huskytohealthy's therapist suggested he do that) from a perferated stomach to give you the true sense of what you could do to yourself. Be careful is all I can say.
  6. Congratulations!!! My sister keeps on telling me to buy new pants cause I am starting to look like a hobo. Its a wonderful feeling fitting into the smaller sizes.
  7. You should stick to your doctor's recommended food plan. Are you on a PPI? As the acid in your stomach makes you think you are hungry. If you are not on a PPI (proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole or nexium) you should take to your doctor or PCP and get a prescription. Note the PPI will take up to a week to show a complete effect. After two weeks on the PPI if you are still feeling hungry then it is most likely hunger. Check with your doctor before you decide to jump from liquids to mushies! Your doctor can only tell you what is best for you and the sleeve that he has created for you.
  8. Yummmmoooo I am going to definitly make these cookies!
  9. Trust me you WILL notice a difference right away! Congrats on starting a new healthy journey. You can find all kinds of great information on this site.
  10. I agree you need to focus on healing and then you can start with the exercising. I am over 3 months post op and have not started an exercise regime (I will be soon). Take it easy and walk for shorter periods of time to keep your blood moving but not to increase your weightloss. You body needs some healing time.
  11. What happened to your throat punching bag?
  12. I do not have hunger and I used to be one of those eat till I am stuffed and still be hungry type of person. I now eat healthy food choices to make sure I get in my required Proteins, carbs and fats. Before surgery I had problems with certain foods and so far I still have the same problems (tells me it is intestinal and not my stomach). Plus I have gained a few sensitivites as in when I try sugary things my stomach gets very uncomfortable queezy. So I just avoid them. Same goes for chips ( I tried some at a party awhile back) they went down but my tummy got very queezy so I will avoid those as well. The head hunger is sometimes present but mostly I forget I have to eat until I start feeling this "empty" feeling. Then I make sure I get something in me. Hope the sleeve resolves your hunger as I have heard a small percentage of the sleevers still have hunger.
  13. I make smoothies with mine. I am sure there are other uses for it too.
  14. What a beautiful post! Looks like a great time was had.
  15. It is where you go back to basics. I copied the information that Tiffykins posted awhile back here is what she said the 5 day pouch test was. Basics to follow: 1) Measure portions 2) Track food intake religiously 3) Don't eat until full, eat until satisfied 4) Drink 64oz of clear fluids 5) Set a meal plan, no Snacks, stick with it 6) Don't make excuses You can try the 5 day pouch test to get rid of the carbs if that is the issue. Days One & Two: liquid Protein low-carb Protein shakes, broth, clear or cream Soups, sugar-free Gelatin and pudding. Read more. Day 3: Soft Protein canned fish (tuna or salmon) eggs, fresh soft fish (tilapia, sole, orange roughy. Read more. Day 4: Firm Protein ground meat (turkey, beef, chicken, lamb), shellfish, scallops, lobster, fresh salmon or halibut. Read more. Day 5: Solid Protein white meat poultry, beef steak, pork, lamb, wild game You don't necessarily have to do the liquid part if you can be disciplined to just eat protein.
  16. Only way to find out for sure is to apply.
  17. So are these functions going to be every weekend? Or did it just happen that you had 3 of them in a row? I personally believe having a taste of a treat once in awhile will get the sweet monkey off my back. So that I do not obsess about it. Just know that you can not have these treats in your home or you will eat them all the time. I know it is in my mind and I have to work on it. I will eventually get there but for now I avoid when I can and allow a small treat once in awhile to satisfy that monkey.
  18. What are you craving the most? For me it was tuna and it satiated the craving when I ate it.
  19. checking in SN........................starting wt................current..........goal..........lbs to goal Autumnlily..................297.2.....................281.2.........270..............11.2 I wish all weeks were like this week.
  20. So for future patients of any doctor they should find out what the post op pain meds will be and then check with their own doctor who has prescribed their Fibro or other pain meds and see if there will be interactions with the drugs, or discontinue their prescription(s) or if they can take their prescribed medication with the pain meds that are provided. Plus maybe see if they can get a short term liquid version so as to avoid having to dissolve meds in juice/water. We always learn new information by someone else's experience. Glad you are on the mend and that now future fibro/pain med patients know what to ask pre-surgery and will be able to understand how the pain can be controlled.
  21. Carbonated bevies are off limits for awhile as they could have the potential to cause discomfort from the carbonation. Plus you do not want to be drinking your carbs when you are trying to lose weight. There might be other problems associated with drinking soda's but I am not sure what they are. I just avoid them and maybe will try when I am in maintenence. Drinking with meals. I used to guzzle fluids during meals and I practiced before surgery to not have as much so that afterwards it was not as hugh of a change. When you are eating yoru protiens first you really do not have room for fluids. Oh and the 30 min before a meal I usually chug Water 5 mins before a meal give it a couple of mins to clear to my intestines and then I have my meal. I am satiated and do not need another drink till 30 mins after a meal (sometimes longer). I keep myself hydrated with approximately 96 oz fluids a day so I really do not feel the need to drink during a meal. Maybe a sip here or there but that is it.
  22. It is normal as some people their swelling goes down really fast. I was one of the lucky ones that is in the same position as you. Just means you will be able to stay hydrated easier than those that have troubles getting in their fluids. When you get to mushies or even solids you WILL feel the restriction. Keep up the fluids and you will do fine.
  23. Little things that add up. What do you take in your Starbucks coffee? creamers, sugars? You can still have them just change it up to low fat and sugar free. Definitly up your water! Water will flush out the toxins from your body and if you are getting below the minimum amount you are retaining salts and toxins which hold onto water and so some excess weight can be due to water retention. Sounds weird to up your water when you are retaining water but it is the salts that keep the water and increased water will make them move out of your body allowing the excess water to leave as well. Protein first. Track your food and make sure you are getting 60 and up of Proteins. Vary the proteins (do not always have to be from meat can be legumes as well). Carbs are tricky there are good carbs and then there are bad carbs. I would keep the bad carbs to a minimum. Do you take Vitamins and minerals? If you are not eating enough of the foods that contain the vitamins and minerals you should supplement your diet. Have you tried the 5 day pouch test to see if you can kick start your losing again. And lastly what if this is the weight your body is comfortable with, are you comfortable with this weight?
  24. Mina if they are as opposed as my sister would have been then for your sake I would not say anything. I too did not tell my family before I went because they would have made it more stressful. I had enough stress just going by myself. I was fine with the decision and told within one week that I was back to my sister. She said she would have tried her best to talk me out of it if I had told her before hand. Now that I had the surgery all she could do is either support my decision or not talk to me. She decided to support me. I let the rest of my family know within the next couple of weeks and they were supportive. If I too had told them before hand they would have hounded me to not do the surgery. They see the results now and are fine with it all.
  25. Eggface does not put in the protien/carbs due to the varying types of protein/carb nutritional info that will be used for the recipies. Plus serving sizes can vary from person to person. But if you can find a standardization and put the info in that would be awesome.
