Less of Leslie reacted to Liberated Sleeve in Question Of The Day Tuesday
3 days out and have already conquered two of the goals I wanted as results from the surgery. I was on 3 medications for Diabetes...none taken since Saturday before surgery (so 5 days) and 2 medications for High Blood pressure... None taken since before surgery!
The sky is the limit from here...

    Hi everyone,
Last Saturday I was 306.0 this Saturday I'm so pleased to report that I am 292.8!!! Down 14 lbs. but, I must say I'm 12 days post op and having a TON of trouble getting in all my fluids or Protein. It has actually been really tough just to try to
eat. I am MAKING myself drink at least two Protein Drinks a day but it's a struggle. What I am am so excited about though is I FINALLY am out of the 300's....I will Celebrate that.

AFAIK, EVERY surgeon that does the VSG uses staples. I have never heard of a surgeon that does not. The tool clamps, cuts then staples the cut all in one with just a couple of squeezes.
SOME docs over sew the cut with sutures, most do not. There certainly is some veracity to it being slightly better - like a belt AND suspenders type of situation, but the staples work fine alone.
The staples are permanent and DO show up on x-rays and MRI's as dark lines but do NOT interfere. They are non ferrous titanium and they do NOT set of metal detectors. The are actually quite tiny micro staples.

I am SO comfortable with my sleeve. I have read that some people are scared or weary of restaurant dining. Not me!
I have been out to eat several times and have CONQUERED the menu everytime. Today, I went to lunch with a friend that I haven't seen since surgery. We went to eat at our fave Mex rest. I ordered a carnitas soft taco lunch combo. I ate the "guts" out of my soft taco, a couple small bites of rice and 2 chips dipped in salsa. I was Stuffed and satisfied. Saturday, I was in SF with some girlfriends and we ate at a rest. on the pier. I had the grilled mahi mahi tacos. Again, I ate only the inside of the tacos, tried one of my gf's garlic fries and another gf's crab dip. Full and satisfied!
The point I want to make is that it's OK to eat out. Don't feel like you need to seclude yourself at home, embarrased by how little you eat or not sure how to order your food. The conversation and time with loved ones will always trump your embarassment. I am comfortable and confident in my sleeve. I was sleeved so I can live again! I have been a professional dieter for so long (like many of you!) and I know how many calories are on a plate just by looking at it. I make sure to make healthy responsible decisions when I eat. I may have a nibble of the "bad stuff" but I don't dive in. That's the key.
Don't let your sleeve hinder your decisions on life, embrace it and let it guide you.
    HTH!

FAIR WARNING: TMI ALERT! TMI ALERT!
I had THREE consecutive nsv's today, and they all had to do with a flight to San Antonio. First of all, since the beginning of the pre op diet, then surgery, I've lost 34 pounds. Today, I saw the fruit of my labors.
    NSV #1:
I went into the public bathroom at the airport, and the handicap stall was full, so I went into the teeny cramped one, hoping I (TMI! TMI!) didn't need to do a "twosey" because I can't reach the necessary location on my anatomy for proper cleansing unless I'm in the big stall. (I hope some of you know what I mean so i'm not a total freak!) Well, it turns out I would have had COMPLETE access to the necessary area!! HOORAAAAYYYY!!!!
    #2:
I sat down in the airplane and BUCKLED MY SEATBELT!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! AAAANNNND.........
    #3:
Put the tray table DOWN!!! WOOOOO!!!!! UH HUH!! OH YA!!! UH HUH!!! OH YA!!!
(then my day went downhill at dinnertime, but that's a different post! Still happy though!)

I wish I would have known how tired I would be post-op. I'm 2 months out and much better than 1 month ago. My energy is coming back, but I did not expect to be sooooo tired after surgery. AND I AM FREEEEZZZZZING ALL THE TIME!! NO ONE told me that! I used to ALWAYS be so hot (all that fat storage! LOL), now, I am one of those girls that is always cold. I use to get irratated by those girls, always wanting the heater on....now that's ME! LOL!

You NEED to risk the loopy/sleepy thing. You must be a good girl and take your pain meds. When someone cuts you in many places and sews you back up, it's a given that it's going to hurt. That's why they prescribe the meds. I think if you just try it, you will find you are much happier about everything when the pain is decreased. Even if you're in a fog. Just do it. Like someone said on here before: you don't get extra points for leftover pain meds!

This is a surgery forum for those who are looking for SUPPORT in their journey. What did you expect "Loving" husband 1979? That we would all applaud you for your cruel and unsupportive forum topic?
    ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! :director:
All you had to do to lose the weight that you have been gaining and losing for YEARS is just PUT THE FORK DOWN AND EXERCISE! Thank you SO much for shedding the light on us.
We have been STRUGGLING with our weight, not just trying to lose those last 10-15 lbs, STRUGGLING with 100's of pounds. Your wife is obviously unhappy with her body image...wonder why. "Eat healthy dear and exercise". Yes, we DO have to eat healthy and exercise. VSG is not a magic cure. We need to eat healthy now more than ever before.
The risks of her being obese out why the risks of the surgery. PROVEN FACT. Do your research buddy, and don't expect to come into a VSG support group, bag on the surgery and expect us to be soooo happy you shared your opinion with us. We get enough grief from the ignorant A-holes outside of this forum, we don't need it here.
    God Bless your wife.

I tried a lot of different laxatives until I found one that worked for me and maybe it will help you, too. I only take 2 at night and it keeps me regular. Stimulant-free and doesn't cause cramps. It's very gentile. Here is a link for it.
